  1. Here's the harsh reality. Before his contract extension and medium sized payday, Matt Barnes showed flashes of brilliance but also complete lack of confidence in himself and his abilities. When he got paid , it broke his weal mind because he thought he needed to live up to his contract hype. He fell completely apart mentally and now, like Bard, cannot throw a pitch to save his life. He was always mentally a mess and now with the pressure of of an 11-2 lead , he shows what is really going on inside his otherwise empty head. The Sox will need to trade him so he can reset on another team's back. Sox should offer to pay out his entire contract, just to move him out of the clubhouse and bullpen.
  2. Barnes would be a waste of a roster spot on a playoff team. Totally useless even in a blowout
  3. My good buddy Matt Barnes is probably the only pitcher I know who cannot throw strikes against a 11-2 lead . f*** this idiot who i have denounced since he ever picked up a baseball. He was born a loser and will die one day wondering what he did for a living. This is Daniel Bard #2, before Bard's recovery. There are not words strong enough to express my personal trashing of Matt Barnes an ass clown if there ever was one.
  4. Iglesias gets a little luck on the missed catch but runs hard and scores as a result That's a minimum 120 yard sprint which many NFL'ers would have trouble with
  5. I fully realize why we will be going with Arroyo in the WC game and after if we win that one, but Jose Iglesias has energized the bottom of this order and also brought sharper defense into play. Will Iggy get an FA offer from multiple teams, including the Sox over the winter. Maybe just a non-roster invite from Boston. Anyway, it's been a great run since 9/3 for him and the team. They were sucking wind significantly before Iggy cranked up the volume.
  6. Great summary of the reasons for Sale tonight. i still contend that a win on April 25th has exactly the same weight as September 25th when the final totalling of W-L's is done. WIN the game you are now playing. You cannot win tomorrow's game tonight. Now setting up a rotation where Sale and EO are both available for a WC game makes some sense.
  7. That could be a great outcome if the Rays can make it stand
  8. Given recent activity, I would like to see Dalbec DH'ing over JDM, who may need to rethink his AB's. Would not surprise me after watching a few recent JD AB's that his back is hurting once again
  9. Tonight should be a much better test of Sale's continuing return to action. There is every possibility he will get the start in a WC game , or certainly be available if EO gets the ball. Let's hope we don't need to win games 161 & 162 just to get one of the 2 slots. I am not overly concerned , although would prefer, for the WC game to be at Fenway . Travel to NYC or Toronto isn't difficult . It is the 6 outs remaining for the home team , after the visitors bat in the top 8th, that is concerning.
  10. Eovaldi has given us 95% of a very good season and does appear to be a true competitor , like Sale . Juxtapose those two with soon to be FA Erod and your gut feel when he goes out to the mound. In a year where the pitching did, in fact, include Ryan Weber, we are lucky to have a Nate Eovaldi working for us.
  11. Ponder this one. With 10 games to go (11 for Jays, but give them that difference as a W), the Sox with a one game lead over them and 2 over the Yankees, even a 5-5 run to the finish, makes BJ's need a 7-3 record to pass us and Yankees need 8-2 . I'll take those odds on making the WC play-in game. Actually a significant achievement for this team in 2021 , competing in the AL East. Subscribing to a chip and a chair philosophy that you are not out of it until you lose the last game of your season , can you picture the Sox actually making the WS ? It would mean beating Jays, Rays, Astros or White Sox in 3 big series. Oh well, dream on about another ring ?
  12. How does Nimrod Nimmo just stand there and watch that 3-2 pitch??
  13. It is if Hernandez walks the first guy he sees
  14. If you want a defensive SS, go get one, then find a place to keep Bogaert's bat in the 2022 Sox lineup.
  15. That was an odd decision but stemmed from them bringing up a Sept 1 roster expander and then Maddon telling Iglesias that the new guy would be playing. Iggy said FU, Joe and the GM then DFA'ed him.
  16. Wondered why Brasier was allowed to come back out. Davis is more scary though. Lots of outs yet to get
  17. I think we will need Martinez to confirm or exercise his option before they can plan effectively around Schwarber.
  18. JDM with 2K's and a nubber to pitcher on a slider away is unteachable
  19. I should be the hitting coach, just need to give them a game plan
  20. Have to score Schwarber with him on second and no outs. Time for a clean wallball by X
  21. Sox have 5 hitters with OPS's over .800 and 2 more at .790 in the lineup. Sooner or later they will come alive.
  22. Now follow up Kike's blast with 3 or 4 more while Stroman is distracted
  23. Maybe we should trade for Alonso so we can have bookends in the dugout
  24. Brasier isn't good by almost any stretch but he gassed Baez pretty sharply, maybe can save Erod's F'up inning
  25. Lift Erod now before the HR. Can't believe we will have to carry this nutless wonder into any post season games. You will not see him in the WC game, IF we hold on to that chance
