  1. Thanks for the info. Regrettably it is an AB so his legit OBP declines to 1 base for 15 ABs, which our advanced analytics guys will tell us is .066 , mimicing his OPS
  2. Does Chang get OBP credit for reaching on an error ? Very hard to keep up with Yu's stats on the wily ways he reaches base.
  3. Angels are the West Coast version of the Red Sox, and they also wear red socks
  4. I'll give Kike credit for making Angels pay for error on Devers grounder
  5. With a LH pitcher at Fenway, I would have expected that in the choice between Casas and Dalbec, Bobby would be playing first tonight. But Cora knows stuff we don't
  6. The only difference between Casas's first and second At Bats is that he swung ( missed) at strike 3. Otherwise the pattern was exactly as written previously. The book is out on our big boy, he will take strike 1 and scuffle from there. The real mistake was fouling off a 92mph 4 seam in the center block of the zone.
  7. Ironic that with a lineup featuring 6 guys hitting in the mid-low 100's or .000 , we have 2 guys on the bench, Tapia and McGuire, hitting well over .300. Probably why I'm not managing this bunch.
  8. 90 pitches for 4 innings ?? It is one reason they want him starting vs relieving.
  9. As you have mentioned elsewhere, they now need to take it the whole way to the Cup or who is going to care. Lots of pressure there, and they need to be confident that Ullmark's leg is ok.
  10. Does anyone recall what Kenley Jansen actually looks like on a mound. I know he has been in 3 of 13 games so far, and tonight doesn't look good yet either for a save. Maybe we are saving him for that desperate 10 games out of WC 3 run in August/Sept.
  11. You may not be able to win the pennant in April, but you can sure set the stage for losing it . Realistically this team could look far different in June/July with Story and Duvall back, maybe Paxton, Bello etc on the mound. Wishful thinking
  12. Rally Snuffer Refsnyder. Maybe if the first 2 stiffs had stolen a hit on a bunt, something good could have happened
  13. Dugo meanwhile is contributing nicely with his bat and helping the leadoff position OBP. I truly hope Alex makes a big year of it for himself and the Sox.
  14. Chang is still only 0-14, a mere fraction of Kike's 0-20++ , but does sport an 0.71 OBP , giving him and OPS of 0.71. Nice work, Chaim
  15. It used to be that no opponent wanted to pitch a LHer against any Sox lineup in Fenway. See Whitey Ford of NYY.
  16. Houck's 62 pitch count after 3 would indicate another bullpen session no later than the start of the 6th. Maybe the batters can get a couple runs to make it interesting.
  17. Ironic tha Houck's 2 walks are Ohtani and Trout. Just trying to keep the ball in the yard. Not a bad idea, but watch out for Renfroe Got one back with a K on Ohtani in the 3rd on a sinker.
  18. If I were an opposing scout, just saying, taking notes on Tristan Casas I would go as follows: 1. Always takes first pitch, so pump a center cut at medium speed. 2. Get him to swing and miss chasing a low outside medium FB 3. Put a decent heater on the outer edge of the zone so he will foul it back 4. Work the count to 3-2 , then f*** him with a pitch on the inner edge for called strike 3. He is looking for a walk. No aggression, nor ability to smack heat
  19. Dear Mr. Bloom, you have been a major participant in giving Mr. Cora a roster that currently features a lineup with 5 men sporting a BA in the >100s and also Mr Chang who still is a perfect ZERO. How do you plead ??
  20. No, what's pitiful is the 2 out walk followed by 2 hits, with the rbi's coming off Renfroe's bat
  21. I see Moon is in the pen warming up for a " Realistic View of 2024, Part 1" in the near future. Let's play LAA and Twins at Fenway over the next week to see if what we have been seeing is what we are going to see for the next 150 games . Peter Abraham likely summed it up well about this roster being a bunch of spare parts and retreads . Bloom needs to do something decisive to keep himself in his seat and the fans in their seats
  22. Kutter throws an 80mph curve to Brandon Lowe who promptly deposits it in the Bank of Deep RF. Another pitching key find by the Sox
  23. Chang on 2nd must be regarded as foreign territory
  24. I can't be sure but the analytic guys may want to look at the 2Bman positioning on those 2 ground balls, especially the second
