  1. As a baserunner, Wong is a good catcher. Been watching Vazquez video I guess
  2. Tellez is a loser except when hitting vs Boston
  3. Bello, in the first, looks more like a thrower than a pitcher. Still very young and a virtual rookie. I do think he is quick to get unsettled and takes a while to recover his poise
  4. One thing about pitching, as we wait for Bello, is that sometimes pitchers get wins they don't really deserve, sometimes circumstances overcome a good pitching effort and sometimes the pitcher just flat loses the game for the team. That's what Whitlock unfortunately did yesterday, especially in light of 4 one hit innings from the bullpen. Garrett blew that one, and the lead/winning run came from a bases loaded DP induced by Bleier, after Garrett loaded them without recording an out
  5. Dugo made a very smart move to beat a very good throw.
  6. Making Burnes work hard in the first. Now convert into run(s)
  7. Absolute, irrefutable numerical evidence that our guys only hit when it counts, lol. Better to be lucky than good. Great is a whole other level
  8. Well, at least McGuire didn't mess up the 7th . Neither did Crawford
  9. I think he can be very good offensive player but as an OBP guy , not a HR threat. He needs to slash at the ball and make hard contact , and then don't get picked off. We need 6to view him as a mature "rookie" who needs to go around the league (s) this year to adapt his game.
  10. Keep digging the hole Garrett. Get a doubleplay right here
  11. Dugo robbed of a CF big hit, Kike cannot return the favor. That was a Yelich rare rocket
  12. Whitlock has allowed hits/walks in every inning, some with runs allowed. Also not helping Wong with holding runners
  13. Yu Chang is the least likely HR hitting dude in this lineup, but when you look at him next to other players, Yu is one big boy.
  14. I watched a little of Tellez hitting for Mexico, I believe, in the WBC. He couldn't hit anything, but he does love Red Sox pitching. Whitlock not showing anything today.
  15. Wink has the most relief innings in AL ( or MLB) . Not necessarily where you want to find your stats in April.
  16. Yes, once again Miley keeps the bats and baserunners mostly quiet after 3.
  17. Jad, you are on a roll. Sox may not lose again this year , at least until Kluber pitches.
  18. Kind of close, but neither is habitable in the winter. Oh, I forgot, many of you live in new England/New York
  19. Is the game actually 8:10 EDT/5:10PDT ? Late start on a Friday night . Not going to be available until later in the game but good luck and pitching to Nick Pivetta. Brewers record to date is formidable at 14-5, tied with Braves for 2nd best record following the RAYS @ 16-3.
  20. Bulletin: Brasier struggling with 7 run lead. He may be the first one to get overused in this early season
  21. Yoshida is such a different hitter when he slashes through the ball. If he can keep up that approach he can be the on base guy in the lower half. Also 2 out hitting with RISP makes you a fan favorite
  22. looks like a great Red Sox day with everyone in the lineup and on the mound participating. It sounds too simple but the key to a consistent winning record is the accumulation of series won or worst split. If the bottom half of the lineup can just hit in the .230-.240 range, this team will do a lot better . Overall the pitching is actually pretty decent.
  23. Having been concious of Red Sox baseball, via my Dad who went to college in Boston, since about 1950 the years of watching the Yankee dominance was extremely disheartening. But I think the real pain was in the '67, '75 , '86 WS losses in 7 games often turning on a quirky play . The loss to the Cardinals in '46 , the year I was born was always just a legend of Pesky and Slaughter . The '78 B.F. Dent HR was about as difficult to absorb as any of the WS losses. In the end the JH era of ownership has be4en the reward for staying a fan for so long. Those successes makes the recent mediocrity harder to accept without comment.
  24. Playing about at the RS .500 level after going 65-12 in season. My quick assessment, likely wrong, is that the Red Sox are a .500 +- team and we need to get used to it . I remember that in most of the 50's, 60s, 70s, 80s,90s and up to 2004. It's not fun, younger fans. Where is Kimmy this year?
