  1. Franchy's positions for the next couple months will be prone and reclining
  2. Wacha needs to close this inning out, and OB needs to quit jinxing him with the 1000 carreer K announcements
  3. I was wondering why it was a better idea to put Cordero in left rather than leaving Pham. Now Franchy is probably out for the season with a major ankle injury. Dalbec gets new life, except he needs to be playing for Woosox, not sitting watching Casas
  4. Story does figure it out but like having JDM on the bases, Raffy's sore hammie prevents scoring from first with 2 outs .
  5. Thanks to Dugo for the early lead 1-0, a rare treat for the Sox
  6. But we did eat up the BP again, including Schreiber. We will be going to the Rays short as we have been all season
  7. Absolutely. It felt more like a 8-2 game, especially with 12 hits and 4 walks. 4 for 13 RISP isn't awful, but 9 were LOB'ed.
  8. The much maligned bullpen has now thrown 5 innings of 1 hit/ 1 walk baseball against a team that sometimes can hit, like last night's 8th/9th innings. A 4 game sweep at home will be a great move prior to going to the Trop where not much good can be counted on.
  9. After chewing on the Rangers this weekend , the Red Sox have the enviable task of returning to the AL East tomorrow in the form of the Tampa Bay Rays for 3. The Rays will be trying to continue their run at the Yankees heels, so expect thier A game. And we are so close to .500 going in. Will need to win the series to do that.
  10. Casas already has achieved 1/185th of Dalbec's total hits.
  11. So, I see that Traistan Casas will make it to the show Sunday, Sept 4. Assuming that's accurate let's applaud and see how our potential 1B solution can handle it. Dalbec's jock will be itching in any case.
  12. Now Houck has progressed to needing back surgery , which is never a good thing. That could heal before ST or start of season, but I wouldn't be surprised if Tanner Houck is MIA for a good part of '23 either before after he tries to return. When guys in their 20's need back surgery and have big swinging motions ( at bat or on mound) it does not look good for their future. Disc surgery is never a guarantee. What did a full seaon off do for Taylor so far ? It would be a disaster if the Sox lost 2 young effective relief pitchers due to back injury/conditions.
  13. It may have been mentioned a few times but someone in the know should do a deep dive on the Red Sox MiLB system, who is working in it and what those individuals have produced , either in Boston or elsewhere before. It isw only an eye test, but more than a few guys showed up over the past decade ( multiple Baseball OPs heads) who were not prepare d for the Show, or lacked the talent to succeed. or was it training and work ethic?
  14. Rays leading Yankees mid-game 2-0. Why do the Rays continue to compete with/without Friedman and Bloom ? Something works in that dump of a home field with few fans
  15. Cora is trying to rehabilitate Matt's confidence , and AC knows Matt will be back with his fat price extension next year , so he's on his knees begging Barnes to do something worthwhile. Bullpen roulette backfires again
  16. Another f'ing dribbler on a guy who should have K'ed. This is a miserable 9th
  17. Barnes's 0-2 has never been close enough to entice or intimidate hitters. Always a waste of the situation
  18. When is Story's bobblehead night ? I want to order tix Unfair criticism but couldn't resist
  19. That's ok, Fred, to feel no confidence. It makes you in synch with Barnes himself.
  20. 2 home runs out of the park and a virtual 3rd into Dugo's glove at the RF BP ? Whitlock's arm may be getting weary at this point but you also need to look hard at any more 2 inning outings this season. Let him get through the winter and see what he's spinning then. He magically made this a game at 5-3
  21. JDM got his hit/rbi but still runs like a cement mixer on low fuel.
  22. The Strangers must have watched a lot of Sox video from August, thinking it was a training tape.
  23. A number of his FB's are fairly straight. Good velo at 96-97 but not the kind of natural movement that Houck gets .
  24. McGuire is a chaser , not a good habit
  25. Bello setting himself for a strong finish, maybe 5 more starts . He will then be ready to compete well next ST for one of the wide open starting slots.
