  1. I can tell German is our guy already. First , he comes from the Yankee system, then his opening act is a walk- a hit-a walk. Then a run scored and bases loaded, effectively endiing the game. Unlike the platinum sombrero, Franklin has the infinite ERA Which call ups from WooSox have actually been able to perform this year ? Maybe Kelly, a little bit of ORT, Bad Luck Bello, Bazardo??
  2. I like it when Cora yells at the CHumps. It shows the guys he cares, and also how incompetent the arbiters are
  3. Condolences to Kevin Plawecki for getting dumped by Chaim . But it makes room for the future stars and fan favorites, in this case a German . Actually that is just the roster spot, since Franklin G. is a pitcher, not a catcher. Those guys are Wong and McGuire. I wonder what day Cora and Bloom loooked at each other and said , "Let's get a jump on ST. We are going nowhere but home." Probably about September 1.
  4. The walk up music for Sox batters should all be picked from Grateful Dead songbook.
  5. 15 outs on 53 pitches by Singer. I thought the hitters would be showing up today. They have equaled last night's hit total though, and they did win that game, their 70th of the year. With 18 to go, including this game, they will need 11-7 to get to .500.
  6. Moon, feel free to PH anytime for me. Just trying to get an 18 game win streak going
  7. Based on the rules of game threads , I am forced to announce that the Red Sox are playing again today . Rich Hill will be trying to get his +.500 7-6 record heading northward. Royals are offering a legit pitcher today , Brady Singer, showing an 8-4 record , and 3.21 ERA on a team that is 31 games below .500. Given the Sox difficulties with hitting last night, still a W though, they will probably bust out vs Singer with a 10 run onslaught. It is an ironic team at best in '22. I appreciate all the corrective notes to yesterday's game threads , which i was hoping i would have all to myself . I'm amazed that some folks here don't recognize the intent of inflaming the fandom passions with specific comments that go back to strong positions held in the more serious threads. They are just trying to get your blood flowing and test your resolve. Glad we all remain 99% apolitical otherwise some of you would be like a teenager on Facebook with apoplexy. Lighten up, it is still early and we only trail the Orioles by 5 1/2 games.
  8. Any win is a far better outcome than a loss, but if there are quality starts, maybe there are quality wins too. This wasn't one. The 2 runs that won the game were bases loaded walks. At least that showed some pitch recognition skills. But the win does help with the impossible dream of a .500 season
  9. I didn't say he wouldn't be out there at 1B next year. I said he wasn't ready yet. He has all the flaws of the Red Sox hitters who have come through the system recently. Can hit HR's but no plate discipline or pitch recognition. Neither do some long term regulars so it must be a pandemic of free swinging.
  10. JDM amazingly sets up the win with his rbi. Casas helps with his K though, by swinging at ball 4 , naturally a low breaking ball that would have walked in another run. Anyone who thinks Casas is MLB ready hasn't watched him much
  11. Dugo showed much better patience and tied the game with a walk.
  12. Bases loaded, 1 out for X. Please pull this one out Xander K's on 4 pitches , all slurves, none of which came near the plate A walk would have tied the game, and he choked on it
  13. Pham with two on and no outs pops out, dropping below .700 OPS.
  14. Almonte has a physique similar to Devers and Vogelsang. Hasn't missed a postgame meal in quite a while
  15. Other than missing Story, a questionable miss, this is pretty much a standard lineup for 2022. Can these guys eke out 2 runs in the 8th and 9th to make it worth their while to show up ? Pitiful to get shutout by a losing KC pitcher
  16. The improvement would be to trade Kike over the winter.
  17. 2 hits through 5 innings off a pitcher with a 5++ ERA
  18. You can have Kike Hernandez and do what you will with him. Another bases full GIDP , after taking an actual strike 3 , well within the box, and getting the gift from the ChUmp. Also cannot time jumps in CF at the wall. Creates a triple. Only the Sox in 2022 can get 2 walks, followed by a groundball single and not score from second base in a force out situation. You have to be running hard in that situation.
  19. Sad to watch but Martinez is literally just waving his bat at FBs. He should be the one taking the next few weeks off before he winds up hitting below .270./.750
  20. What happened, did you guys totally give up on 2022 ? I missed this week working in Las Vegas so only saw lowlights and bad play. Anyway, thought it was important to get all 162 games on the Mike Grace thread, even if Trevor Story can't show up each night. Sore heel ? Anyway , thread started in 5th inning with 0-0 score at Fenway. So there is still a chance . Yes, I know... what difference does it make now.
  21. So with 20 games after this imminent loss, Sox will be 69-73, 4 under. So they would need 12-8 to get to .500. Be looking for a 79 win season boys and girls . But we'll have Chris Sale back next year and Raffy Devers too, so look out AL East
  22. Got your K so that helps
  23. More brainless letting him continue through Torres
  24. Familia at the 20 pitch count about to explode
  25. Familia isn't too familiar with the strike zone. McGuire needs to call the FB only
