I was having to do some outside work for awhile. We have about 5 acres of dry grass that needs mowing to reduce fire exposure. I tend to agree with your hitter assessment
In Bloom's defense, he did not try to deal with the Nationals to get Strasburg on a cheap deal assuming he could recover from his infirmities. Way to check your swing, Chaim
I do think he gets the majority of the season( 120+- GAMES/450+-PA's) to see if he can hit acceptably. That could be .250 with .700 OPS and .350 OBP. If Casas does that from June 1-Sept 30, he will stay at 1B R-L platooning with Turner . If Tristan can do that and since Turner is on a 2 year deal, Bloom will pronounce 1B solved for 2024.
That was a great win and generally excellent pitching , ex Whit's 2nd, . The hitters are still somewhat inexplicable, dead for so many innings, then a total binge. Guess it keeps us watching
Left field in Fenway will make player out of a slow OF'er. Williams, Yaz, Rice, Manny, etc . couldn't run real well but made a living out there. Carl Crawford was probably the only LF'er that could run.....right out of town
I k now it has been discussed on this board a little , and the thinking is it might still be premature to extend Dugo. My question is who do they have coming behind him that would replace him ? I realize they still have another year of control, but I have come to think he is a keeper. Like Duran, seems to have improved his overall professionalism considerably.
Reyes takes 2 center cut 84+- pitches for strikes, then reaches out on a slower breaking ball for the pop-up. What are these guys thinking at the plate? Probably wasn't.
I believe that if Mayer shows success at Portland, he will get to WooSox in August and come to Fenway in September for a "cup of coffee". Then when he shows up at Ft. Myers next ST he will be considered the top option at SS. Tough road to make in one year but clearly the game plan , as opposed to retaining Bogaerts. Story??..... sounds like a 2Bman to me since the Sox are missing one of those also.
Zach Neto of LAA did go from AA straight to Anaheim early this year and is handling it , not great/not bad. So it can be done
I see NESN continues to prefer running PSA's ( for worthy causes) during the game to having O'B/Youk etc. have to talk about the Sox. But at the inning end they cut they volunteers off and go to some equally awful commercials.
