  1. Wong with great recognition and throw to 2nd. Plus the turn to get Crawford out of a threat
  2. My thought too. The Rays are way out front, and we need to pass a couple others first
  3. You might say that Pablo's pulled abdominal has pulled Hamilton's time to meet his future rapidly forward. You know the Sox don't want to start his clock if they can help it.
  4. Reyes's strain puts a strain on everyone , forcing Kike back to SS and getting Arroyo out of the dugout. That is a minus WAR any way you look at it. Crawford says no problem---I'll just K them all and it won't matter
  5. Turner also has some $200K performance bonuses based on PA's starting at 480 , then 500, 520,540,and 560. Barring injury and his regularity in the lineup so far, he should collect on most of those.
  6. BTW, Kluber also got a 1 year, $10MM deal with a CLUB option at $11MM for 2024. No chance on that one.
  7. JD took a 1 year, $10MM deal from the Dodgers, but not useful in the field . JD bet on himself to perform. Kike Hernandez took a 1 year, $10MM deal, but plays multiple positions, sort of, for comparison. Which guy would you rather have (rhetorical question) Turner took a 2year deal at a combined $21.7MM , with 2023 at $8.3MM, but the 2024 year is at his option , not the clubs, and will cost Boston $13.4 MM . This arrangement was risky for the Red Sox unless Turner performed , and if he did, he could potentially move on . Most likely, Justin takes the nice option and smiles on the way to the bank. Alternatively, the Sox can buy him out of the option for $6.7MM. Justin also provides some time at 3B and 1B , so gives some value as a backup in the field. The only thing about JDM that was truly maddening was the chasing of the low, away slider on which he could never see and react ( by holding back) to the spin.
  8. Moon advised us several times that Justin Time Turner was a strong second half hitter . The guy is amazing with his insight.
  9. Gee whiz, that guy in Arizona, why can't we get a VP Ops/GM like that ? Mike Hazen, where did he come from ? Oh yeah, studied under Ben Cherington with the Red Sox . Went to AZ in 2016 and the D'backs have had some mixed results including .500+- seasons, 90+ wins, and a couple real stinkers . Now back on the ascendant path against some tough rosters like LAD, SDP and SF Giants. Not quite the AL East but tough anyway.
  10. Only 7 Sox managers have won a WS title. Tito has 2 of them and my old friend Bill Carrigan has 2 . Pinky F. Higgins had 2 stints and couldn't win anything meaningful. Yawkey protected him from the scourge of multi-racial baseball
  11. Depends on the definition of "Is"
  12. If Cora is just short of being an idiot, how did he just reach 400 wins as a manager ? He's special
  13. When you realize that the about to be 36-37 Twins, lead the AL Central and the about to be 38-35 Red Sox are 5th in the AL East baseball is not quite as balanced as some think
  14. Speaking of 6's, I apologize in my excitement last night for loving the Fenway sweep of NYY to misstate that the Sox swept NY in NY the prior week. In my heart, I still think they did and am awaiting the outcome of the appeal on the alleged 3-1 loss to the Yankees
  15. Looks like it won't matter, but that is a ridiculous number of K's and a DP with RISP from the middle of the batting order. But as always , when the bottom 3 of the order ( Casas, Wong, Reyes) participate ( currently 5-10) good things happen. Duran and Dugo doing their best helped too. They went 5 for 7 BUT neither scored a run, telling you sharpies something just as obvious to the eye testers. Technically, Ref batting for Duran in an oft questioned move by AC or the analytics guy did score a run on Dugo's triple.
  16. Only a guess, but the analytics vs a LH reliever brought in to face Duran suggested moving to Refsnyder. Remember it was 2 outs, 2 on and Duran may have been too excited to take the walk
  17. Not to mention the alleged Cora-Bloom friction where Cora gets satisfaction from seeing obvious weak players procured by Bloom fail in the field. If that is actually true , Cora selling out the fanbase and his players. It may not be true but like many theories it may eminate from leaks and side comments from those who do know.
  18. True, I was concerned on Dugo's triple that Refsnyder from first would be running up Triton's back as he neared the plate. Wong ( I think) was already sitting in the dugout.
  19. Your fan club object of adulation will reach a fork in the road by end of this season. Does he continue to mature and become a slugging (.250/.800/25/90rbi) mainstay at 1B or does he take the road more travelled and follow Middlebrooks, Lavarnway, Chavis, Dalbec into the oblivion of AAAA ? For the team's sake, I hope the former not latter, or did I get that backwards ?
  20. Devers may have abandoned his hot bat again, but he is making some real good fielding plays tonight.
  21. The analytic guys phoned that one into AC . You saw him on the phone, right. LOL
  22. There may actually be more baseball experience and knowledge on Talksox than in some FO's and dugouts, especially at the LL level.
  23. I think Moon was talking about Duran , for whom Refsnyder PH a walk, then scored on Dugo's triple. Devers then bounced out
  24. Can the swing meister pick up Dugo ?/ Who knows
  25. Dugo rips the Twins a new one. Way to go
