  1. When Arroyo and Hamilton generate a run , even with Rangers bobbles, it must be a winning night
  2. Both could be true. I heard it from one of the NESN broadcasters ( Wake, O'B, Lou)
  3. Interesting to watch teams playing as close to a shift as they can taking away ground balls up the middle that the pitcher can't stop. The tendency/spray charts don't lie over good size samples.
  4. Max appreciate your thoughts and still trying to get my head right so I can accept the judgements of our fearless manager and FO to keep us at .500 . Somehow, I think a700 has gotten to the core of your message. But enjoy the game because Cora did run Bello out there as a starter and that is working well.
  5. Bello giving up hits to a good hitting team but working around it. Keep the ball on the ground, Brayan
  6. You keep seeing references to him coming back a bit sooner as a DH . So you would bench Turner or Casas , so Story could bat ? Bring him in when he is fully ready and can play SS . 2B is an option but not where the need is.
  7. When Yu Chang is your answer at SS, YU still have issues. Hamilton has 4th worst OPS in baseball among SS's? Who the heck could be worse ? I know i could look it up.
  8. Hamilton just continues the misery at SS . Makes Bello add pitches and risk the lead. Bello had to throw a 5 out inning.
  9. Turner still the professional hitter doing what is needed. Yoshi didn't help with Duran on second, no outs
  10. Agreed. It is an acid test of Bello's development and maturing as a frontline pitcher early in his career. The Sox need today's win plus a sweep of the A's ( not so easy given the pitching deficits ) to make any progress in the standings.
  11. What do you know---Yu Chang and Mike Trout have something in common , both out with hamate bone fractures, but we will get Yu before snakebit Angels see Trout back.
  12. If the Sox could only move one position player and one pitcher in return for a AAA level , August/September ready prospect, who would those 2 be? My position player is Kike who will not be re-upped for 2024. Not all his own fault , shouldn't have had to be at SS , but he has no future in Boston's plans. Lots of options for a pitcher selection but to me I would shop Chris Sale and pay 50% of his remaining money to an edge team who might take a real chance , preferably in the NL. ( Phillies, Brewers, Giants ?)
  13. This six game homestand will end up 3-3 . Texas will take 2 and Oakland 1 . The win 1, lose 2, win 2, lose 1 .500 season will roll right into the A-S break and back out with no clear direction.
  14. Ironic that the call-up Walter is the only reliever not to give up a run today, so far. Bernardino's run was the victim of the oft mentioned ORT
  15. If you take the entire history of MLB baseball, all teams, all games the combined record is .500 with allowance for a few incomplete game ties not played out. So baseball is the definition of average
  16. This game was lost the moment Ort faced his second batter. But more importantly, did Mrs. Paxton pop out the baby yet ?? How much time does an MLB player get off to attend the baby momma ?
  17. Not sure if 2024 will open with our Yoshida, Duran, Verdugo OF but right now their OPS are .852, .855, and .820 respectively. Add in Devers' .829 and Turner's .809 . It tells you that pitching is the need at the deadline and this coming winter.
  18. relievers truly are a crapshoot. Bernardino was very good, Ort wasn't, Murphy pretty good, Garza sucks.
  19. Garza about to get taught a lesson regarding strike throwing
  20. I detect the whiff of sarcasm in this post
  21. Apparently , the 5th hitter ( E. Duran) tendency was to hit LH'ers well, so the RH'ed ORT was the brilliant solution. Duran hit him as did Garver with the HR.
  22. No props for ORT who returns to suckitude . Ort throws 6 pitches, allows 3 hits including a 3 run HR.
  23. Bernardino gets 4 outs, and a weak infield single on 18 pitches and Cora decides that Ort is the answer. Bernardino did pitch in relief of IL Whitlock Saturday so likely protecting one of his few arms. If Ort gets out of the inning with no runs allowed, I'll give him props.
  24. No idea if Bernardino will do well today but if you check his checkered history in professional baseball in the U.S. and Mexico, you have to give Bloom or his team a kudo for finding this over 31 lefty who has done well so far. But Brennan did not read the memo telling him to give up 1 or 2 runs in the first. He'll catch on.
