  1. One time through this ragged-ass lineup and Flexen has the perfect game going. Red Sox batting discipline is almost non-existent. Always down 2 strikes, always swinging at ball 4
  2. How do you make Flexen look like a Cy Young candidate ? Run this lineup past him 3 times
  3. Message to Breslow: Your starting infield in game #66 is Dalbec ( not at 1B, 3B), Hamilton, Valdez and Dom Smith. Cooper and Jamie Westbrook ( know him ?) are your bench today Good luck Craig, the clock is ticking. Maybe you need to consider some moves now or you could say Wake the F UP !
  4. Zack Kelly as a starter and a parade of relievers makes me wonder where this crew is actually going. Still in the first half of the season and the lineup and pitching is a patchwork quilt of lame and wounded. Lots of confidence the team will score today unlike yesterday. Reversion to the mean and all that.
  5. Yeah, 14 runs over the next 2 weeks. Devers and O'Neill with the tender knees. Their upper body types put added strain on their lower body structures like knees , feet and ankles . This could be a rehab lineup at WooSox without a big stretch of imagination. Where would we be without Dalbec to play 3 positions ?
  6. Literally 50% K's over past two games (27 K's), 0-10 RISP today . You can only hide this lineup for so long. Actually to only be 1 game under with this dog pile is doing well.
  7. His recent stats over the past 5 starts are not encouraging , shows little advancement towards being a pitcher.
  8. You may have missed the blow-up by the immature thrower on the mound in the 5th when he gave up 5 runs, 4 after 2 outs. Cora did not have much to do with this one , having been tossed when his guy took strike 3 , in lieu of the walk he was wishing for
  9. Interesting to watch Kopech K the Red Sox 2 young estrellas , Rafaela and Duran with the bases loaded in the 9th. Would not have mattered had either hit a GS because they were down by 5. Can you call tomorrow a must win ? Mostly because next will will include multiple "must loses"
  10. Westbrook showing why Worcester needs him back. How, if , you are Westbrook do you take 2 called 3rd strikes on 3-2 counts. You are either incapable or stupid in a baseball way.
  11. You can almost sense times when the Red Sox players sort of give up on a game, Usually when down by 3 or more after 5 innings. Low energy effort from there on out
  12. The simple fact that Rafaela leads this team in RBI's discounts the low value of that statistic. He seriously must improve his choice of what to swing at. He gets himself out the majority of the time. Always with 2 strikes, always chasing
  13. Westbrook is living proof that even career long MiLB'ers make enough money to eat well all year long
  14. I thought the Chicago bullpen was one of the absolute worst . Looking pretty competent last night and today. Maybe the RS bats were too bruised after Thursday slugfest to keep hitting.
  15. One of my questions is going to be , is there any response by Boston hitters here to get back intot his game. With 12 outs, 4 runs is not too many
  16. Bad News Bello cannot get a 3rd out for his life . All he needed was a simple inning but didn't get a couple marginal calls, then fully imploded.
  17. Sure enough an infield bouncer ties it up. TheN Bello shows his suckitude which is worse than his attitude. Turns a potential win into a 4 run deficit. Really don't have a lot of respect for Bello's abilities and certainly no maturity on the mound
  18. And Chump will make you look worse as he does to Bello, now walking two with 2 outs in a game where the rain can come. Should have been a K but not in crime infested Chicago. Runs up his pitch count too
  19. Bitch about the umpire if you want but another early season Red Sox inning. Hamilton gets to second, no outs, Rafaela swings at pitch in the dirt for strike 3 but catcher has to throw to first while Hamilton goes to 3rd. Then Duran walks, promptly gets picked off and Westbrook takes strike 3 at bottom of the zone after Porter has been calling low pitches strikes all day. That MLB money won't last too long if you don't hit the ball.
  20. Bobby D clears the bases, well would have if he wasn't leading off but he does give the Red Sox the lead at 1-0
  21. 3 of 4 innings with a leadoff walk, but nothing happening after in terms of run production. Now it is raining so maybe getting a 1-0 lead could have led to a short win. Still could but thanks to Dom Smith's DP Boston is no longer batting.
  22. Bello vs Nasty Nastrini This team needs all its threads. This one is in honor of the Walking Wounded... O'Neill, Whitlock, Giolito, Gruesome Grissom, Casas , Yoshida and all the little people rubbing their sore feet. Blown chances in first two innings, time to rattle the bats and score
  23. What is this a reusable game thread ? No wonder the Red Sox could not score with MoB. This crew deserves a new thread every day So I will now do so, and expect a rapid turnaround on the scoring side.
  24. That is an interesting set of short stats . To think that Mookie and Xander both missed a month's worth of games is surprising. If Leon only was in 89 games, who caught the other 73 ? Vazquez appeared in 80 , and Blake Swihart actually appeared in 82 games, mostly as a utility player. Think of this, if you didn't know the 2018 outcome , and if you had the option to take this roster and games played , would you have guessed that this was the winningest Red Sox team of all-time ?
  25. A point I was thinking about. Even more obvious when you realize that MLB teams play with 13 position players/hitters. Dalbec and Cooper must be #13/#12 in any order. Westbrook seems willing to swing the bat so I give him #11. Hamilton has shown some small talent ( not throwing to home) and he gets #10 . Now 9 guys need to be in the lineup for 9 innings. The Red Sox only have 9 guys left, and one is a reserve catcher/PH'er. No wonder Cora keeps showing Breslow, and Bloom before him what these guys can/cannot do.
