  1. How much would you pay Mookie? If he doesn't want to sign with the Red Sox, I can see him being traded by Aug.1st if the Sox are out of it. I'd make sure to keep J.D. if that happened, and then get some bullpen help. With Porcello and Fat Panda's money free next year they should be able to spend a little.
  2. DD has got to get rid of some of this dead weight in the BP. Brewer, Hembree, Poyner, Johnson. They all suck. Workman isn't much better. He could go too. DFA the lot of them!
  3. Thats the only way Hembree can get an out.
  4. Game may be a blow out before Hembree gets out of there.
  5. Sandy Leon may be a good catcher but a blind man could hit better than him.
  6. Hembree didn't waste any time serving up a meatball. He stinks.
  7. At least the Celtics are playing well tonight at Indiana. Hayward looks like he is finally back to being the player he was before the injury. Next year he will be a superstar again.
  8. I think after the fantastic season the Sox had last year everyone needs to relax and cut them some slack. They will be fine. To quote Kevin Bacon in Animal House, "All is well".
  9. : For sure. They must not have had that view. The ump is looking at the tag, not the foot.
  10. A's are tough at home. Wouldn't be surprised if they have a way of stealing signs.
  11. Price hung a changeup to Davis but other than that, he is dealing. And he is the 5th starter!
  12. Eck and Obrien didn't think the replay was conclusive as to whether his foot was down on the plate. That can be the only explanation.
  13. At least the Trop doesn't have 40 acres of foul territory and its not 4 miles to the fences. Neither place draws fans.
  14. The ump missed it and there wasn't enough to overturn it. No luck for the Sox.
  15. What a throw. Probably safe but they might lose the challenge.
  16. The Oakland Coliseum is the worst baseball stadium in history.
  17. Trade Leon or Vazquez and keep Swihart. Offensive potential far and above the other two.
  18. It doesn't matter if its spring training or not: Workman sucks. Velasquez is average at best. Barnes is not a 9th inning guy. Poyner is AAA 1/2. Thornburg is nowhere near back to what he was for Milwaukee. Carson Smith is hurt and won't contribute for some time, if then. Wright is out 80 games. Braizer is hurt. Brewer is not the answer. Dave has got to pull a rabbit out of his hat to salvage this bullpen and make it respectable.
  19. I know its Spring Training, but right now my confidence level in the bullpen is a 3 out of 10. No way Barnes has the makeup to be a closer. Thornburg throws a straight, hittable ball. Braizer is hurt. I hope Dave figures it out.
  20. I like the low cost move of signing Carson Smith to a minor league deal. If he can get himself right, his stuff is nasty. Worth a flier. Especially since they gave up the great Wade Miley to get him.
  21. I think I would keep Hembree over Johnson because Hembree can get out lefties (when he is good) and he has a power arm. Johnson's stuff is average.
  22. Yep. Now they won't be able to sign Pomeranz.
  23. My opinion is that Johnson is a mediocre MLB pitcher with below average stuff, below average control and a horrendous pickoff move. He should only be used in an emergency. Not too valuable.
