  1. Keith law actually has our system rated higher then the Cubs.
  2. Theo left them in terrible shape after 11. The sox young core consists of Betts, Boegarts, Bradley, Benindenti, Swihart, Vazquez, And Erod. With Devers and Groome still top 20 prospects. The Cubs young core is Rizzo, Bryant, Scwarber, Baez, Russell and Contreras. They have Jiminez left as a top 20 prospect and pretty much no young pitching. Find the 2 scenarios to be very similar except we have more young pitching.
  3. I'm a big Theo fan but have to disagree with you here.. With very little on the farm he trade Jusin Masterson, and Nick Hagadone(a 1st round pick) in a deal for Vitor Martinez in 2009. In December 2010 with a pretty depleted farm he traded Rizzo, Casey Kelly ( at the time our number 1 prospect ) and Fuentes ( our number 1 pick in 09 ) for Adrian Gonzalez, and then signed Carl Crawford, which left us with no money to spend and nothing on the farm. This past season with the Cubs for half a season of Chapman he gave a bigger package then we did for Kimbrel. This offseason he traded SOLER FOR WADE DAVIS. Giving up a very promising hitter for a reliever with forearm problems. What allowed Theo to do this was his young core, which is similar to ours.
  4. I would put Texas behind Houston and probably Seattle. Actually I would say Boston Cleveland, Toronto, Houston are definitely better and a good chance Detroit, Seattle, and Baltimore are better.
  5. Brantley had a major injury no guarantee he's ever going to be the same. Salazar I have serious doubts that he can make it a couple months , Carrasco is always hurt. We had Benindenti for about one month last year, Price had his worst year, EROD pretty much lost the whole first half of the season, and I will be shocked if Pablo does not out perform Shaw. To top it off our young guys are a year older and should keep improving.
  6. Boston had a + 176 run differential last year Cleveland a 113 . Boston lost a lot of tough games last year by a run, should not have that bad luck this year. Going into the playoffs nobody should have thought the Guardians were the better team, yes they swept us, but the playoffs are a crapshoot and the sox were more talented. We have added Sale to our rotation they have added Encarcions, I still believe we have more talent. To even compare Texas to us right now is crazy they had a minus 4 run differential last year, after there top 2 starters they are very weak and the lineup has a lot of holes.
  7. Yes a lot of people have forgotten about Swihart as an up coming big part of our future, but not considered a prospect in reality still a prospect. Last year I would have put him in the same class as a Betts and Boegarts.
  8. The sox had a need in left field at the time and with his athleticism it became an easy transition. All along they said they were moving him back to catcher.
  9. What says something is the Red Sox have held onto him, after trading so many prospects they kept him. It has also been reported that he has been in demand this offseason.
  10. Not the only factor they won, but a contributing factor. If it was a fractured clubhouse they would not have gone as far. My whole point in the beginning is the managers value lays as much in the clubhouse as it does with game management.
  11. I believe the Sox had a more talented team then the Guardians last year, especially with Carrasco and Salazar hurt. Clubhouse unity helped them get on a roll, which derailed the Sox and came within one game of beating the Cubs. The 13 sox were definitely not the most talented group in the league, but they had a very tight clubhouse which helped them get on a roll.
  12. Well of course a lack of talent sinks a team more, but I was talking about teams with talent. Another example would be the Matt Williams National teams.
  13. I don't believe Farrell is a great game manager, but I do believe he has the respect of the clubhouse, which to me is just as important. Nothing sinks a team more then a bad clubhouse, just look at 2011 for an example.
  14. I agree with both of you, had to reset the tax with most of our young players becoming Arbitration eligible this year and next. Penalties are just to great. I also look at EE's age and would not be surprised if Travis is the better player in a couple years.
  15. Dombrowski said they were struggling to sign players to minor league contracts, because of the lack of opportunity to make the team.
  16. Raudes does not have great stuff but has above average command, sometimes that mix is underrated.
  17. Would not count on Smith at least till July, take it slow make sure he's 100%. Workman really struggled last year in his attempt to comeback after one year.
  18. It depends on the player and how quickly they can adjust. Betts didn't have much of an adjustment period. Bogey and Bradley struggled. I'm going to guess Benindenti will have a smooth transition.
  19. Ready for some real sox news has been a boring hot stove season with all the major moves made in one day, and that was almost two months ago.
  20. Like your list but I believe Kopech is 20 or 21
  21. Imagine our system if we didn't trade Moncada, Kopech and Espinoza. Would be one of the best all time. Still happy to have Sale.
  22. Devers is starting the year at Portland, once you get to double A its not to long until your ready, think there is a good chance he's ready in 18 and is a September call up. We need Pablo to play well, if not we are looking at Rutledge and over exposing Holt.
  23. Agree with you, Sox history would be much different would not have three world championships.
  24. Arbitrator will decide now, he heard the case.
  25. I'd be thrilled if he was league average offensively, I have September and October stuck in my head, just looked so overmatched.
