  1. He’s going to get closer to Dorian Soto money than he is Juan Soto.
  2. Arenado over Bregman makes zero sense unless the Cardinals take back Yoshida. it makes zero sense for St. Louis to trade Arenado and take on Yoshida salary if they’re trying to shed payroll. just sign Bregman, or stick with what you got and pivot to the bullpen.
  3. Those are ALL FREE AGENT contracts. None of those guys have to risk staying healthy for two years and they all had longer track records than Crochett. A lot can happen in that time frame. Those are total apple to oranges comparisons.
  4. I love these arguments because the numbers thrown out here are going to vary wildly. I'll be interested to see how close my 6/150 is. I was the only person on earth who predicted Xander Bogaerts would get well over 200 million, then again, I also predicted $75 million for Verdugo (hangs head in shame). Remember when Juan Soto turned down a record $440 million and everyone called him crazy? not such a crazy decision now.
  5. He might take less than that, he might laugh at that offer. He'd certainly get much more if he has a good 25'. The thing about Crochet, is he's young and you're paying for his 20's. Sometimes you have to swing, and if the Sox believe in him I say make the investment.
  6. If Crochet repeats last year, his price tag doubles. I'd offer 6/150, not opt outs and see if he bites.
  7. A 5-6 year extension is most likely. 99% of people here are going to either call it an over pay, or an underpay.
  8. This is also true, it's kind of a conundrum. Steroids' are both an injury risk and have preventative properties as well. Steroids' are a blanket term, there's a lot of different types that have different benefits and adverse affects. More so if you want to throw a blanket term around like PED's. The human body is at an increased risk of injury when one is tired. When a muscle is fatigued, other parts of the body overcompensate which can lead to imbalances and overloads that result in an acute injury. Steroids' allow for rapid healing that can prevent this. But on the other hand....as you said, they can also lead to weakening of the bones because they can decrease the amount of Vitamin D and Calcium that is absorbed into the bones.
  9. It's very rare for an opt out to not be included now a days.
  10. Exactly, it was effectively two different deals.
  11. It can really be both. The extension can kick in next year or the current year. Even if it was signed after March 2025 it would have no effect on 2025 for tax purposes UNLESS the deal bought out his 2025 salary. I'm not sure if a team has ever signed a guy mid season to deal where the money went back retroactively, but for accounting purposes for LT that's the year it would effect.
  12. I 100% agree, I just don’t buy this false narrative that he’s turned off of Boston because of ownerships wallet. That’s a silly conjecture. that aside, ownership is cheap and pinches Pennie’s and we should all want that to stop.
  13. It’s also been reported he’s met with more teams than the ones reported
  14. A.) for what period of time? B.) do people seriously think this is going to influence Sasaki decision? And that’s why he isn’t signing here?
  15. I don't think it would happen but I would find it hilarious if Sasaki signed here. I think he ends up with a surprise team. Everyone is saying LAD, I think it's going to be someone like the Padres, Angels, or Mariners. Probably a west coast team.
  16. And yet a few of those teams were worse than us last year, and it's not like we've become a bottom 5 in spending. A LOW in spending in Boston was middle of the pack. I get that Sasaki probably isn't coming here but this self-deprecating speak towards our team is just starting to sound more cynical than logical.
