  1. Wouldn't be surprised if he struggles for a few weeks after a big jump, and if he doesn't? even better. Would love to see him hit the accelerator and hit his way into Boston 2024.
  2. I agree, I was a huge advocate of signing Andrus, who was the top SS left on the market at the time. Which to be fair, would have looked awful right now, not sure how much better he is than Kike right now if at all. Without a doubt, the F.O. deserves a f***ton of strife for how they handled SS, but in addition, they've also been bitten by bad luck as well.
  3. Of course it's important to have a good lefty in the pen.
  4. Story also wasn't out until late in the offseason, so technically Story was plan A. I don't think they thought Mondesi would be out this long, I think they figured he may have been out for a month. Also, they had no problem moving Kike off of SS when Chang was up here. I don't think Kike was ever really plan A, but they don't need to start him every game at SS with Reyes on the roster.
  5. Aside from 2-3 guys at the top, how many guys in MLB bullpens have a nice sizable career WAR. We are talking about a guy who was signed to be about the 6th man out of the pen.
  6. I normally don't have much criticism of Cora but he really needs to stop putting Kike at SS when they have Reyes in the lineup. Reyes is clearly a better defender and Kike does not look very good there at all.
  7. All I know is that I know nothing at all.
  8. They had him throwing in camp, the Sox would have had him on a conditioning program.
  9. This, teams knew, just no one has taken a risk like that before.
  10. And, he missed an entire season, as did all the MILBers. So, you have to take that into consideration as well. I wonder what goes through STORKs head when he posts, he has to be trolling.
  11. Drohan made it to AA before he even turned 24, and even if he didn't so what?
  12. We can always count on your posts to bring the collective IQ on this board down a few notches.
  13. It's a pretty s***** thing to do to "spite" the Sox, because he's probably hurting Song a lot more than he is the organization. But, who knows, maybe he will be their closer in October lol. But seriously, it will be interesting to see how it plays out, then again....it's been mostly hurry up and wait until now.
  14. I don't know, what type of penalties have executives paid in the past when they were found guilty during a grievance filed. maybe a fine, or draft pick? IDK, I really have no idea. But you can't just pick a guy and stash him on the IL all year if he's healthy.....
  15. Unsurprising. I want to say something like "I hope DD pays the price and sets the precedent to not do stuff like this" however, this is a rather unique situation and who knows next time we ever see anything like it again....if ever. It would have been really nice to see how Song could have progressed this year with a normal development.
  16. I don't think anyone would snag him. I think what Bloom did was unprecedented and it will be a reminder to the rest of MLB GM's why you don't pull crap like this. I'm still not 100% convinced some kind of grievance isn't filed by the Sox, and the odds of Song having a productive MLB career one day are probably a LOT lower now given how tumultuous his near future looks after over 3 years of missed developmental time to begin with.
  17. It's those freaking sweeps that are really hurting this team. Sometimes it's how good you can perform when things are going BAD that can define your season. So you didn't have it vs. St. Louis or TB, but being able to steal at least 1 game in each of those series are the types of wins that can go a long way come September.
  18. Everyone and their mother thought JDM was toast after last season. I don't think anyone can really fault the Sox from moving on from him, and while Turner doesn't have quite the same stat line.....he's been fine. I'd be willing to be their OPS are closer to each other by the end of the year as well. His K rate is the highest it's ever been, and his BB rate is the lowest, and I highly doubt he's going to continue SLG .596 the rest of the season. If he does......good for him.
  19. This. Saying we should not have signed Kluber is 100% a hindsight statement, but without a doubt he’s been a disappointment. I wasn’t against the Kluber signing, I liked it, but I was disappointed it was the only move they made. I thought the rotation needed a lot of work and the Sox needed an ACE at the top. They’ve been lucky that all of Sale/Bello/Paxton look good right now, and Whitlock/Houck might be added to that group too, especially with more consistency.
  20. Dear god Duran is so freaking fast
  21. Both Wilkeman and Perales with great starts today. Gonzalez 5.1IP 4H 0ER 0BB 12K Perales 5IP 5H 1ER 0BB 10K
  22. This is what happens when you get a new phone, lose all your passwords and want to comment.
  23. Would just like to toot my own horn in that I was behind Casas the whole time. Even in the beginning of the year he was among the league leaders in P/PA, that type of approach for such a young hitter with power was bound to pay off eventually. Don't change a thing with this kid....he's only starting to come into his own.
  24. Exactly, the vast majority of position players drafted are up the middle guys. Guys move off of position all the time, a guy you drafted at SS could be your right fielder one day (Mookie Betts), in another lifetime he may have been your 2nd baseman. Also, this is baseball and not the other sports, these guys are 4-6 years away from being broken-in contributing MLB players so drafting for need is senseless. And after all that, you can always trade strengths for weaknesses. Sox seem to do better than just about anyone out there at drafting position players.
  25. They should absolutely 100% take a short stop if that's the best player available. Best. Player. Available. Every time.
