    One thing I've noticed over the years, and this applies to more than just sports. Is it takes people a LOT longer to like someone they've decided in their mind is bad, or not good enough etc etc. than it does to take someone to dislike someone they've decided was good. The people who have made up their minds about Yoshida will probably need two back-to-back MVP seasons for them to say "You know what.....it was a good signing" but even then they won't ever go full in wrong they will say something like "yeah well, a more competent GM would have signed him for less money" conversely if someone's favorite player turns out to be serial child murderer rapist then some will exit ship but others would cling to any piece of information out there if it said other wise...even if it was from Myunclesfriendatthegymtoldmesoitcan'tbefake.com It's amazing how the human mind works.

    I’m fine with Chang starting at 1st and Kike starting at 2nD. Sure Duran isn’t great in CF but it makes the infield defense good and his bat has been a huge plus so far. At this point, I think I’d take Chang over Arroyo

    RBIs were the most important thing in the world when a Hunter was out there.

    Duran becomes a completely different player now if he can hit enough to get on base.

    Guys like Chang and Duran are only up because they needed that depth. Same thing with Winck and Crawford. But, the way they are all playing, they need to stay on this team.

    That's why I've been hopeful on him. That and because he was walking a ton. Weird thing is in the past 7 days he's been slugging .500 but with only one walk. It's got to be tough, he's new to the MLB, he's never faced any of these pitchers before so they are all new to him, and he's been getting a lot of LHP to start that journey. With more RHP coming up he could be poised for a breakout. I also want to see how he looks when he starts seeing guys again.

    Lets Say Yoshida is hot and goes 4 for 4 today. His average would be up to .270 I think a lot less people would be complaining about him if it was a steady 270 all year. But that's literally taking away 4 hits today and sprinkling them out over the last 25 days. Maybe we'd still be concerned by his lack of power, but lately, he's showing a little.

    The problem with batting average is it doens't measure walks, and it also doesn't differentiate between a single, a double, a triple, and a HR. Any stat in baseball on it's on doesn't tell a whole story. And.....it's all a SSS at this point. This time of year you can have a good series and raise your stats a lot still.

    I think the Rays are a good team. I didn't think they would go 162-0 and I also don't think they will go 140-22 At a certain point, they will stop playing all last-place teams. Starting today actually. Lets see how the next 3-4 weeks go. This is baseball, and it's a long season.

    No, Paxton will be coming off the shelf soon. Maybe Kluber has a shorter leash than I think and he replaces him after his next start.

    I’d say all our sub .200 guys are better than sub .200 guys. They were bound to start hitting at some point. Which is what they need to do if they’re going to stay in it because other guys are going to come down to earth at some point. It’s a long season.

    You can’t pitch Winck everyday. It’s easy to judge Cora for the decisions he makes when we don’t have to worry about rotating guys, giving them rest, and keeping them healthy for 162 games. Martin is coming back, that should push out the worse performer in the bullpen. Which has generally been pretty good. It might even get better.

    remember the pen has been pretty good overall. And it will be better when Joely and Martin come back. Because them you can subtract the two worse arms. Ort won’t be around forever

    Casas has walked 9 of the last 10 games. He is top 10 in baseball in P/PA. That’s elite. He knows the strike zone. It’s only a matter of time before this kid starts mashing.

    Bellow command has actually improved from where it has been, obviously this year we’ve seen it come and go. But he’s also on his second start after one rehab start and only 2 IP in spring training. From a certain perspective, compared to his peers, he’s on his last spring training start. I think the kid will be fine once he gets into a grove. It’s not like a Kluber situation where the guy just has nothing left

    Right now it looks like everyone is good. But a lot can change in a week or month. Guys can regress, key players can get injured. It’s a long season and a lot can happen.

    Well that’s why I think they a lot has to go wrong for them to move Winck out of that role. Right now Crawford/Paxton are ahead of him. Maybe not in skill, but in fit. Also depending on timing and performance, if they need another starter for a week or two and want to keep Winck in that role they could call someone up from AAA to do so. So yeah, I think a lot has to go wrong. I know you knew those guys aren’t starters. I pretty much agree with your whole take.
