  1. Brevity is the soul of wit.
  2. Agreed, I would never say “empty” and if I did, or do I expect to be called out on it. I thought maybe you were implying the system wasn’t that weak in 2019 because we had some good guys there. There’s always a few guys in a weak system. And we’ve been beating the drum that the system was weak back in 2019 and Bloom came in to rebuild it then. Heck, Keith Law thinks we have a weak system but an above average number of top 100 prospects.
  3. Not all stats are created equal. Does he have a great approach? Or is he feasting off of bad pitchers that he won’t see at the MLB level. Because there is truth to that and we see it play out often. On the Soxprospects last podcast they talked about his, and despite his hot start they were very concerned with his swing and approach and how it would translate to the MLB level. The biggest knock was his arm, which they’re grading as a 30, which is well below average. Still, given his performance, I would have been ok giving him a shot and moving him to 2nd where his arm won’t be as big of a concern.
  4. But I didn't say it was empty. I called the system weak.
  5. Yes I did, It's a 100% accurate statement.
  6. Are catchers moved up an inch behind the plate? Maybe they're trying to make up for the larger bases
  7. We are 4th in MLB in runs scored. We can afford to let Casas adjust to MLB pitching, and reap the rewards at some point this season.
  8. I'm not messing with a guy's development who has the ceiling Casas does. He's mastered every level, he has nothing to prove in AAA. He needs to learn to adjust to MLB pitching. He is only going to do that by facing MLB pitching. It's like Pedey all over again. He has a good plate approach, he's grinding it out right now and he will figure it out. Freaking out and making moves prematurely because guys are struggling is not a winning strategy. So much pressure shouldn't even be on Casas to hit, it's not his fault that other guys aren't performing either. Should we demote Kike Hernandez? or get rid of Yoshida prematurely? maybe it's time to DFA Arroyo. Connor Wong isn't exactly lighting the world on fire. Imagine if we gave up on Whitlock after his first start, and yet people reverted right back to bashing Bello after one. You always struck me as a bit more even-tempered than someone willing to give up on a prospect not even 3 weeks into the season. Just because a guy is struggling to adjust against MLB pitching, doesn't mean sending him down will do any good. If anything it is going to DELAY his mlb development.
  9. Just because a guy isn’t hitting MLB pitching doesn’t mean AAA is going to do him any good. At a certain point you master a level and you need to learn to hit MLB pitching by hitting MLB pitching. There’s no way Casas gets less rope to figure it out than Dalbec did. Sending him down now is giving up on him. I’m out on that, not this soon. Good things come to those who wait, as Sox fans we should know that.
  10. And let Casas ride the bench and not develop?
  11. Sox would be dumb to not throw their hats in the ring.
  12. So the Sox could pick it up. Hypothetically, right now there's no way they pick it up, not after one great start in 3 years. He'd have to pitch like he did last night for the next two years.......at which point it would be a no-brainer.
  13. If you didn't completely bash Bloom and the trade you hated him. People aren't allowed to do analysis around here....they are only allowed to hate.
  14. Is it? I haven't looked at his contract in a while, I thought it was a team option. Don't ruin my Twilight zone!!!!
  15. So far every single team the Sox have faced has a winning record. Except for Detriot, which if you take out their games against the Sox have a winning record so far this year. We beat winners, everyone.
  16. I mean if this is the new twilight zone then maybe Chris Sale is Chris Sale again, for the next two years and the Sox actually pick up his option and you got Ohtani/Sale headlining your rotation for 3 years.
  17. I thought the twilight zone was supposed to be things that scared you? is it the other teams being scared?
  18. I know this is going to make me sound like an arrogant D-bag but I really wish I could remember all the people (or maybe it was a person) I had an argument about Sales stuff. Last year, my argument was if Sale comes back healthy he can still be dominant because he still has elite stuff. A concept that Poster xyz just couldn't handle. Now, to be fair, his stuff looked like it took a little step back in ST and even his first start. But his stuff has looked a LOT better his past two starts, with the results showing in this one. Which is very encouraging to me. Sale still has it, and maybe the rust isn't completely shaken off right now, maybe he's still got an egg or two in him before he constantly finds that consistency but what he showed last night was real elite stuff. It will be really exciting if he can stay healthy. That is the key with him.
  19. He is, but the system was still very weak back then. October 12, 2018 1 Michael Chavis 2 Triston Casas 3 Jay Groome 4 Bobby Dalbec 5 Darwinzon Hernandez 6 Tanner Houck 7 Bryan Mata 8 Antoni Flores 9 CJ Chatham 10 Durbin Feltman 11 Nick Decker 12 Mike Shawaryn 13 Brandon Howlett 14 Danny Diaz 15 Jarren Duran 16 Travis Lakins 17 Josh Ockimey 18 Nick Northcut 19 Alex Scherff 20 Gilberto Jimenez
  20. It’s just feels like Braisers 99 lives are up.
  21. Some guys just don’t hit, prospects will let you down more often than not. Also, the system was pretty weak back then too. Michael Chavis was the #1 prospect then haha
  22. Read it. Agreed. And you’ll get to say goodbye to 1-2 of them shortly. Unless of course someone else on this team goes on the IL. Which would not surprise me at this point.
  23. “Let’s go Red Sox let’s go Red Sox” - Tom W.
  24. Or we can just not use CERA which is a widely horrible stat. Both Reese and Wong are above average defenders in my opinion. Defense metrics seem to agree. Reese has a better bat but Won’t had an elite arm, which makes it very interesting given the new base rules
  25. It’s kind of strange, in the past you’ve been the biggest proponent of CERA and I’ve never seen someone put so much stock into it now. I’ve never been into CERA, but If there’s anything there I think you’d need a very very large sample size for the state to stabilize. Like, 1,500 innings or something. Game to game means nothing. Sale is a good pitcher, he should pitcher better, no excuses.
