    Teams with “stars” are garbage last place teams right now too. In the end, fans care about wins and losses and when you win….new stars are born. We could be witnessing the birth of 1 or two right now but what might really appease some is “NAME” star power. I’m not concerned with the offense. There’s a nice little star nursery on the team right now. It’s still the pitching tat bothers me though. But you can buy a star or two. Lots of good pitching will be available at the deadline this year

    I do not consider hater a strong word, although their hate can be strong. I do think there's a difference between saying "you're a hater" towards the haters in here and saying "you hate XYZ" It's a commonly used term amongst the kids these days. The times, they do a change. It's also a lot quicker to say than "people who have a less than favorable view towards the front office in such a way they become cynical over everything" Don't worry, even if the Sox were this good they are bound to have bad stretches. It's still early works both ways. The boo birds will have their day in the sun again. Everyone is a hater towards something in life.

    Even good teams go through bad stretches, so....there's plenty of season left for the BOO BIRDS.

    Oh man, it’s hater haven. I wonder what would bring more joy to their lives? A Sox playoff run? Or a Sox collapse that tilts bragging rights back in their direction??

    I think Paxton pushes Houck back to the pen too. Houck can find his way back in if Kluber never figures it out and/or a few injuries are sustained. Also, I wouldn’t count out the #1 pitching prospect in the system being called up….one SHANE DROHAN who I told you was our best pitching prospect 🥸

    Yoshida is looking like the second coming of Ichiro with more pop. Even if he’s not quite that good he’s looking like a great value at his price. But I know the games the haters will play, they will believe the articles written before hand and will be 100% convinced that he could have been signed for much less and therefore Bloom and company should receive little credit for signing him.

    The Red Sox would also be in 3rd place in the N.L. West .5 games out of 2nd behind Pitt/Mil who they both beat. They would be 1st or 2nd in every other division in baseball. They are now a top 10 team in baseball.

    The way the game is played today, pitching out of the bullpen is not the step down it once was. Starting pitchers used to throw 200 innings, now only a handful do each year; only 8 pitchers had 200 innings last year and that was a step up from 4 the year prior. I'm fine with Houck in the rotation now, but if someone needs to be bumped at some point then I'd be happy with him in the pen as well. I think he can be elite there, and what are the odds that at least one of Martin/Jansen need to either be upgraded or replaced later in the season?

    So what you're saying is some people think that the hitting can not be this could and will eventually come back down to earth and simultaneously believe the pitching is this bad and has no room for improvement? That just sounds like pessimism to me.

    Well, if we believe the offense would regress back to the mean. Why? Would we not believe the pitching would do the same?

    I know if we lose tonight it is still a successful series vs. a division rival ahead of you in the standings but man….I want a sweep. A sweep would really feel like a statement. That’s what I’m hoping for tonight a statement game. Would be an even bigger statement if Bello and the bullpen shuts this team down

    Oh they didn't get hurt. I didn't think it was that deep of a cut after you followed it by a nice robust post. Yes, Duvall and Story are HUGE question marks. HUGE because they both have the talent to be really good players but would you be surprised if they were plagued by some mixture of underperformance and injury the rest of the year??? I wouldn't be, but conversely, I think there's a really decent chance for at least one of those guys to really contribute to this team come playoff time. It really takes the pressure off when other guys perform. I expect a regression to the mean by some, but if other guys can pick that up as the season goes on then I think this team (or at the offense) can be as good as it is now. Maybe not defensively, but from an offensive perspective the team looks to have great depth.
