  1. Two different issues. You will have to ask the Red Sox the answer to that question.
  2. And two world series wins. How many teams have 1, let alone 2 in that time frame. By that time frame, one can't argue against the merits paid off by the "strategy" whatever it may be.
  3. Unless the Sox fail to sign Anderson/Zantella (unlikley) they don't sign him. If one of those guys does not sign you have potentially 1 million + to play with to throw at him. unlikely to happen.
  4. So then it's even more likely that Call is not signing.
  5. That's a spot-on description. young pitchers go bust at the top of the draft more than anyone else. You can always trade for pitching, or play the numbers game at the IFA level where you don't have to wait your turn like a draft.
  6. Fair, but he was far from a blue chipper too. He was 19th overall. That's highly regarded but certainly not like having a top 5 pick. Guys like that aren't top 100 prospects until they earn it. It would have been equivalent to the Sox trading Mickey Romero, who could turn out to be Dustin Pedroia OR Deven Marrero. It's not like getting someone that is currently a legit top 100 prospect caliber. They got a guy, and they hit.
  7. We should have an idea soon enough, Anderson and Zanetello reportedly are both going above slot. Those top 3 picks probably take up around 8 million. Leaving 1.5 million for Duffy and Reimer, if those guys sign at slot that gives you enough to throw 600K at Call. Is that enough? doesn't sound like it but it could be because we don't know his asking price. If someone comes in lower, or on of their 2/3rd picks don't sign they can jus throw 1.5 2 million at him, or if both Zanetello and Anderson get over 2 million there just won't be any money left over for him.
  8. yes. I went from no way they sign Call to maybe they sign Call back to I don't think they sign Call. Call was for insurance if they couldn't sign Zanetello or Anderson, that's what I believed the day of the draft. Perhaps someone signs for way less than expected.
  9. But he wasn’t at the time, he wasn’t ranked and was a lottery ticket at the time. Cubs hit
  10. I wouldn’t expect an ACE but the Sox will look to add a starter. I think they have too
  11. This board would be shocked to learn how much little input guys like Bloom and DD have on bringing in amateur talent. Theo probably never heard of Bogaerts until he was already in the system. Same with DD and Bello. These guys don’t touch that stuff, aside from a first round draft pick it’s the guys in the amateur scouting department making those moves. Bloom can set the overall strategy, and pull the trigger on trades based on information provided for him but aside from MAYBE Teel, Bloom is just learning about a lot of these guys drafted too. So, it’s a little silly to compare DDs system to Blooms. Because it’s not really their systems
  12. I’ll take the under at 3. Then he will disappear for 1-21 days
  13. There is moving the goal posts. Then there’s moving the post to the exact location needed for your goal to roll in.
  14. Theoretically, maybe not. Playoffs, throw the regular season out. How many times did the Yankees sweep the Red Sox In 2004?
  15. I’d do it
  16. Ohtani has said “I’m tired of losing” recently, he’s obviously unhappy in LA and if there was a sliver of a chance he’d resign there trading Trout wouldn’t help. They are not retaining him. He wants out.
  17. Take out the losses to the Rays and it looks even better and they got a playoff spot locked.
  18. No Chang had the same affect in m the team before going on the dl before. So it’s not just recency.
  19. It depends on what you want. If you want someone good you’re probably going to have to part with at least one guy in then 5-10 range.
  20. Sox have room, if eating salary reduces the prospects needed they should do it.
  21. I’d be willing to wager a very small amount of money that he does not add any starting pitchers currently in their system.
  22. They needed a body, probably never see him again.
  23. What I meant was, I don’t think Bloom will do that. Apparently Sox are looking at hitters. I’d be ok with a rental, but if I’m buying multiple years of control I’d prefer a pitcher too. Also, apparently the system is ranked #5 now. I can’t believe I missed that. http://redirect.viglink.com/?key=71fe2139a887ad501313cd8cce3053c5&subId=3458890&u=https%3A//www.si.com/mlb/cardinals/.amp/news/cardinals-slugger-loosely-linked-to-red-sox-as-trade-rumors-heat-up-nate3
  24. If Anthony keeps this up he could move himself into blue chip territory.
