  1. I hate myself for this but it actually almost ALMOST brought a tear to my eye when he came out. Damn you MLB for giving me the feels!
  2. There’s no theory that teams don’t value pitchers. It’s just a fact that pitchers bust more often than hitters in the first round, ESPECIALLY high school pitchers. A pitcher in a later round is more likely to pop than a hitter. None of these laws are absolute obviously.
  3. I can get behind this pick
  4. It’s going to be a stretch haha
  5. Houck and Eldridge are probables too. The best highway ranked guys, there’s a lot of short stops haha
  6. Might be Peele below slot
  7. If the Sox take a pitcher, it would be taking a guy ranked lower so…
  8. And if there was a redraft he’s probably be taken higher so that makes the puck look good
  9. Based on whose rankings? Like I said before a ranking is just ones guys board, boards differ vastly. Mookie Betts wasn’t ranked a first round pick by the “epxerst”
  10. Those guys were ranked high, there’s way way way too many bats left ranked high. You’re almost guaranteed to see a bat
  11. Getting closer to the Sox pick. Unless someone falls, I think we see a deal. Isn’t there a high school mass pitcher ranked in the back of the first? Would be a nice change of pace and save some money
  12. I wouldn’t judge a guy on his age, look at how long it took Duran to pop, with that said I think Jordan has a low probability of being a regular big leaguer. With his defense, and speed he will HAVE to hit, and there’s questions about his ability to hit velocity. But, he’s got a chance. Guys like him pop
  13. Rated by who? MLB? ESPN? Ba? You have 3 boards, you don’t see the other 30 team boards. He could have gone off the board with the next pick. You also save money, and spread it around, a very popular strategy employed by MANY well drafting teams
  14. I wonder how many people here who fight with each other constantly would end up hitting it off if they actually met in real life. Beer is the great equalizer.
  15. One thing I always thought would make this place better is if threads stayed on topic. Like, we can talk about all the stuff we talk about now, nothing changes but like….organization. Lead by example…which I’m NOT doing right now. Damnit!!!!! We haven’t gone completely off the rails, I think we are ok.
  16. There are no Bloom supporters. Just sane people who don’t conclude that everything and anything is Blooms fault just because the Sox aren’t great. When you really think about it, your mentality is the definition of a “cry-baby” which is fine, to each their own. All opinions matter, even if expressed like a baby crying.
  17. Hold on a second, this needs critique. Grooms was no longer a prospect, he was a bust. He’s 24, in AAA rocking a 8.29 ERA. Song. Unprecedented situation, and a total dick move by DD possibly messing up the kids career. Also, he ain’t the same guy. He touched 99 with the Sox, he’s sitting at 90 now. He’s not the same guy. Ward - I’ll give you this one. He should have been protected. But he’s not exactly lighting the world on fire either with his 7.12 ERA, walking over 7 batters per 9. None of those guys are burning us.
  18. Most people drafted in the first round do not end up being top 100 prospects. Especially outside of the top 5 picks. Those guys get ranked, everyone else has to earn it. Between the draft and IFA you have close to 1300 guys entering a mature ball every year. Between every teams system and complex leagues there’s well over 7,000 players out there who qualify. Being in the top 100 is impressive. Especially in a 5 round draft. Speaking of which, all those kids who didn’t get drafted and just went to college because of COVID? Yeah, guess what, this is their first draft eligible year. I predict an infielder first round, but once you get to rounds 2-5 I think you will see a lot of pitchers there.
  19. BA has him at 96.
  20. Imagine trading in your 1999 Honda accord valued at $1,000 dollars and demanding the dealership pay $10,000 for it. “Sir, your car is only worth $1,500, yes it’s in good condition and a Honda, but you have 325,000 miles on it.” “Yes, but you could put a new engine in it, a new transmission, a new paint job and run this car for another 325,000 miles, I think this car is worth $10,000”. That’s what it sounds like to think .3 years of Mookie demanded the value he’s equal to through out the life of his contract signed post script.
  21. How many? That’s a great question, allow me to answer it for you. If you continue to follow amateur baseball and the draft you will see this is the norm. Most position players are up the middle. The best player on your high school team is almost ALWAYS a short stop. The vast majority of MLB infielders were drafted as SS, the vast majority of LF/RFers were CFers in high school and college. Sometimes infielders move to the outfield as well. If you can play a good SS, you can transition anywhere aside from Catcher and Pitcher. Take notice on who most of the position players are on other teams as well.
  22. What was inaccurate about that statement?
  23. I don’t, because it’s reality. Be angry they traded him, I am.
  24. Great ideal, can’t play Kike if he’s not on the team. Duran should be playing everyday
