  1. Nick Pivetta will turn 30 before next season. He has a career ERA of 5. Yeah , he should bring back a nice return in any trade.
  2. My opinion is that Bloom will return for another year. I don't like it. I don't think he deserves it. But I don't think John Henry is ready to fire him. And should the Sox flounder again next season , we will surely see some folks say that he still should not be axed. We will hear about " five year plans " and how 2024 has really been the year we will see " Bloom's team ". And so it goes. Like sands through the hourglass.
  3. Bello easily looks like the best young arm the Sox have displayed this season. Maybe that's not saying much , but he should be a good one.
  4. The Mods here are kind of like a pro wrestling referee. They want to do right, but sometimes they get distracted. Then the heels get to do their dirty deeds. I do kind of miss Swihart's Ghost though. I thought he was just having a little fun. Not a good idea to drink and post though.
  5. It will be interesting to see Bello again. That's about the only positive thing I can think of.
  6. I would be all for Theo if he was interested.
  7. Alex Cora knows a lot of baseball. I don't know how good he is about the business side of it , but he does understand the game . Anyone think he could be G.M.? At least it would be a change from the trend to hires nerds instead of baseball people . Any other suggestions? Maybe Varitek as manager ?
  8. There is a growing number of Sox fans who are ready for a change in management. And there is a reason for that .
  9. Yeah. Now wait for the anti Shaughnessy posts . They will be coming right up.
  10. I can calculate batting average, slugging percentage , ERA , etc. with a pencil and paper . But I don't know how to calculate WAR. I suppose it is somewhat complicated. But as far as I know , it is supposed to somehow correlate to wins. Now , when I check the standings today I see that the Sox have 60 wins. The Dodgers have 85 wins. So maybe we should hold off on that parade for Chaim Bloom. By the way , did you see that catch Mookie made last night ? I guess not. But he does it a lot.
  11. He looks like just another jabroni.
  12. Watching the game , I felt sorry for Schmidt . He has good stuff , but he was a nervous wreck trying to get that last out. It looked like his heart was racing. I don't know what Boone was trying to prove , but he almost blew the game.
  13. Benintendi is a good ballplayer. The Sox made a bad trade. That should be obvious even though some will not admit it.
  14. Despite everything, it is still not time to give up. The Sox will have to play better and get some help along the way. The Mariners have been known to collapse.
  15. He won more than Bloom did in Tampa.
  16. We certainly don't know everything that goes on in the organization. If it is true, that Henry ordered Bloom to trade Mookie and slash the payroll, and would not let him spend to improve the team , then Henry should stand up and say , " Don't blame Bloom , this is all on me. Bloom is doing exactly what I hired him to do." As for Cashman , He has been around so long , I think the Steinbrenners almost regard him as part of the family.
  17. No doubt everyone has their own particular reasons for liking Bloom. And that is not about to change. But here is how others see it ; A successful G.M. is fired after three good years and one sub-par season. New guy comes in and the team gets considerably worse. All we hear are reasons/excuses why it is not the new guy's fault. Even after three years. The buck stops where?
  18. For the umpteenth time; the Sox are paying half of Price's salary because that is what Bloom agreed to do. I am not interested in all of the WAR numbers. But I will keep your post in mind tonight. I might be able to skip the Sominex tablet.
  19. Maybe we just like to see good baseball.
  20. What is more mind boggling is how anyone can think Bloom is doing a good job .
  21. Yes, but thirty-five pretty decent innings. I guess he could have pitched more if needed. But the Dodgers have an actual pitching staff. Oh, and they also have Mookie Betts. And the best record in MLB. How are the Sox doing?
  22. I'll play along. Seemed to be going in the right direction last year. Finished tied for second place, eight games out of first. But what happened this year? Looks more like 2020. Only longer.
  23. This is Bloom's third year. And things are going in the wrong direction. How much time does he need? Another thing that bothers me: Why is Price always used as the poster boy for bad contracts? In his four years with the Sox, he went 46-24. We won three division titles and one ring. We are still paying half his salary because that is what Bloom agreed to. Now, he is getting near the end of the line and will probably retire after this season. But even to this day, he is still better than some of the bums the Sox have been trotting out to the mound.
  24. Bloom did not inherit a mess. He inherited Devers, Bogaerts , Martinez ,Vazquez , Sale , Eovaldi, Price, ERod and an outfield , known as the Killer B's , that was a pleasure to watch and featured one of the very best players in the game. What he has done with it has not been working . That is why many fans feel that it is time for a change.
  25. Maybe he hurt his back wrestling with Kacie.
