  1. The mood swings and the daily change in player evaluations are very interesting.
  2. Folks form their opinions and nothing that happens will make them change those opinions. Meanwhile, it is frustrating watching our favorite team in the basement. Nothing more to say. We can only hope things get better soon. The ball is in John Henry's court.
  3. Finished second in 2019. First in 2020 (World Series appearance). First in 2021. Currently 2nd. Sox - Third in 2019. Last in 2020. Tied for second in 2021. Currently last.
  4. Since Bloom shipped up to Boston, the Rays have gotten better. The Red Sox have gotten worse.
  5. Sammy Farge was doing a good job delivering the newspaper. So we put him in charge of the newsroom. It didn't work out.
  6. We all know it. Some of us want to see a change .
  7. Generally, you have a rotation of five starters. Depending on health , they will all start roughly the same number of games. Assigning a number to each of them is meaningless. And calling one the " ace " means little either.
  8. When you are the person in charge , whether it is a baseball team , football team, airline, city, country, corporation, hospital or the corner bodega, you are responsible for the results. Or at least you should be. Results matter. The Red Sox' results this year have not been too good. No amount of excuses, spin or buckpassing will change that.
  9. Part of the late game problems are the bullpens. The opponent invariably has the better bullpen. The Sox had chances to win but could not get the big hit or even sac fly. Part of the reason for that was Romano. He was really bringing it when needed. That has often been the case this year. The opponent has the better, deeper bullpen.
  10. One thing I don't really agree with is blaming Cora. I think he is getting frustrated with the whole thing. He is trying to mix and match and get the most out of what he has to work with. It is tough. The Sox just don't match up well with the good teams. And that has to fall on Bloom.
  11. What I am saying requires no explanation. All you have to do is watch the games or check the scoreboard. This is Bloom's third year in charge. The team is in last place. He is responsible. It is on him. No one else.
  12. The problem is simply that this Sox team has too much mediocrity and not enough quality players. And that is in all areas. Hitting, defense, starting pitching and bullpen. Bloom put this team together. It is on him. You can spin it any way you want, but that is the reality.
  13. Downs is still young, but so far, he looks like a miss. Would have been better to take Graterol. Or take nobody and have the Dodgers pick up more/all of Price's contract. When you are giving up Secretariat, you have to do a better job of horse trading. You do have some leverage.
  14. Paxton has such a history of being out sick, it is always risky to sign him .
  15. I think the current percentage is 62% of the " ghost runners" score.
  16. With the still bitter aftertaste of the Betts situation , I think they have no choice but to sign Devers to a large and long extension. There is no way out.
  17. I think a lot of the criticism at the deadline was that he did not sell off , but didn't really go for it either. Seemed indecisive. Trading Vazquez and acquiring Pham and Hosmer were not what you might do if you really wanted to make the playoffs. And getting Hosmer really was an accident.
  18. Okay . But Who's on first?
  19. Okay. The Caribbean countries are hotbeds of baseball. Except for the ones where Cricket is number one.
  20. Okay. The Caribbean countries are a hotbed of baseball. The point is still the same.
  21. Latin America is a hotbed of baseball. There are 14 and 15 year olds down there now who will the hot prospects very soon. There is no end in sight for that pipeline.
  22. I am fully aware that prospects have two purposes. They can fill a need on the parent club or they can be traded to obtain someone who can. That has always been my feeling. We have fans on here who are opposed to trading prospects. I thought you were in that group. I guess I was mistaken.
  23. Maybe what we need to do is follow the trend of using nicer words to describe the situation . The Sox are not a " cellar team ." They are a franchise " in transition. " That sounds much better.
  24. Right. Our opinions carry no weight . Not even mine.
