  1. I think one of the keys to the Sox making a second half run is Duran heating up and sparking the offense, as well as being a team leader. Trading him would be a mistake.
  2. My confidence has never wavered. Breslow has done an excellent job of putting this group together.
  3. It is hard to have much interest in these kinds of games. Kyle Freeland is 1-9 with a 5.49 ERA. He is 32 years old. Why is he still in MLB? He is worse than the Door Dash driver the Nats started last Sunday. Seriously, they should not be charging major league prices to see this.
  4. The Rockies are an absolutely awful team. An embarrassment to MLB, if that is still possible after all the other embarrassments they have had in recent years.
  5. Devers is a slugger, so his bat is missed to an extent. He is also a grossly overpaid DH. Poor defensive player. An apparent malcontent. A guy who often does not hustle. He was not a good fit on an energetic, enthusiastic, upbeat, young team. They are better off without him. Breslow knows exactly what he is doing, unlike that jerk scout who called him a bleepin' stiff. That fool is now trying to explain to his family why he no longer has a job to go to every day. Meanwhile, the Red Sox are off and running.
  6. Going to miss those guys. Could always count on Dave Martinez and the Nats to lay down for his buddy, Alex Cora, and the Red Sox. Most notably in 2021 when the Sox swept the season ending series in D.C. to reach the play-in game. Maybe Alex will give him a coaching job now that he is out of work.
  7. Three Red Sox players were named to the A.L. All Star Team. Bregman, Chapman and Crochet. All three were off season acquisitions by Breslow.
  8. Cora getting a little too cute there in using Chapman in the 8th , presumably due to matchups. It's become a trendy thing with the analytics guys. I think it is better to keep these guys in their roles.
  9. We don't have all that many baseball seasons in our lifetimes. Any time you have a chance , you should go for it. The future will always be the future. It never gets here.
  10. He is one of the best closers of his era. And he is some kind of freak who doesn't show his age. I fail to see how any fan can quit on this season now. I just don't understand that. Maybe there is something wrong with me.
  11. Chapman has 350 career saves. 14th most all time. He has had a few great seasons. And at age 37, he is throwing as hard as ever.
  12. Trading your All Star closer when you are this close in the race is one of the worst suggestions in quite a while. And that is saying a lot.
  13. It's a travesty on baseball. I tried to place a bet on the Sox, but my bookie, Paul " Needle Nose" Minagge just laughed and walked away.
  14. The rumor is that the Yankees are holding tryouts for relief pitchers in the Yankee Stadium parking lot this afternoon. All are welcome to participate.
  15. Who?? Has even the most knowledgeable baseball fan ever heard of Ogasawara? Is it true that this guy was delivering food to the Nat's clubhouse this morning and they signed hm to pitch today?
  16. The Yankees have lost all of the lead they had built early on. More and more, opponents are pitching around Judge. They have a number of problems. It will be interesting to see if they can turn things back around.
  17. Devers should not be playing third base or first base. The Sox probably should have realized that a while ago. He really is the stereotypical DH. A poor defender. Maybe slightly out of shape. Certainly not the most energetic guy on the field. But he definitely can hit and hit with power. He may be overpaid for a DH, but there is nothing that can be done about that now. I think he will have success with the Giants. I also think the Sox will be fine without him.
  18. A number of games coming up with some of the weaker N.L. teams. For the Sox chances, this could be a case of now or never.
  19. Baseball is a funny game. Many of the results are not decisive. The Sox have lost a lot of close ones. Often it comes down to making one big play or getting one big hit with runners on. More often than not, the Sox have not come up big in key situations. But it does show that it doesn't take all that much to turn things around.
  20. 40 million bucks is a lot of scratch for a " good clubhouse " guy..
  21. It is much easier to evaluate defense when you are at the ballpark. But the vast majority of what we see is on TV. So, no matter what stats or metrics you want to go by, you are not getting the full picture from the television.
  22. Baseball is a competitive sport. The Sox are the third highest valued franchise. There is no excuse not to go for it. Saying the " future looks bright" and the farm is looking good is something we have been hearing for several years now. That's enough of that.
  23. I think that you, being a Yankee fan, still have a little worry about the Sox making a late season run. As such, you would like to see them give up and sell off at this point. I would not expect you to agree with that, but it is my opinion. And I have known many Yankee fans.
  24. I think the Sox should do their very best to improve the team and make a run at the playoffs. Wait til next year is getting very old .
