  1. I don't think it is fair to the team or their fans to miss the playoffs due to a tiebreaker. I am pretty sure they could figure out how to work it into the schedule. It might be a little inconvenience, but they used to do it before they had three wild cards.
  2. MLB has done a lot of stupid things in the past few years. The " ghost runner" for example. But nothing has been dumber than the tiebreaker rule. Two teams finish with the same record, but one goes to the playoffs and one does not because of the dumb tiebreaker. How ridiculous is that ? A one game play-in is so much more fun and so much more exciting.
  3. The three wild card gimmick is having the desired effect. Keeping more fans interested and keeping more and more cash flowing to the Lords of Baseball.
  4. I have no interest whatsoever in fangraphs. I think they are frauds just trying to make a buck juggling numbers, without having any understanding of the game. I think at one point they had the Sox at 15 percent to even make the playoffs, despite the obvious talent level of the team. Now they have them at 95 percent to make the playoffs. When the Sox clinch a spot, they will raise it to 100 percent. They are frauds .
  5. Any team can beat another team in a best two of three game series. And the Sox are pretty much on a par with Houston and Seattle. No intelligent bookie would give you long odds on a series like that. I don't know ( or much care ) about the pencil neck geeks on fangraphs. They know analytics, but they know little baseball. The playoffs are a crapshoot. Get in and hope to get hot. Go for it.
  6. N.D. defense has given up 68 points in two games. The pass rush is weak, just one sack so far. The secondary is weaker, cannot cover and cannot tackle. Is there any heat on the defensive coordinator, Chris Ash?
  7. How many G.M.s and assistant G.M.s does it take to change a light bulb? This seems like a lot of unnecessary overhead and overlapping duties. Whose turn to take the lunch orders today?
  8. One of the things that was said about the 2018 Red Sox was that they thought they were going to win every game. I think this year's team is developing that same attitude. Obviously, you have to have talent, but that positive mental attitude and confidence is very important to continued success.
  9. If you can't spot the sucker in your first half-hour at the table, then you are the sucker.
  10. Jorge Alcala is only 30. He has a live arm, throws hard and is apparently healthy. Teams are willing to give a guy like that another look. Red Sox fans are not known for their patience.
  11. On YouTube, there are some good A I fakes on Aaron Boone. Quite realistic and very funny. Some on Judge also.
  12. No one ever gave a second thought to Joe Ryan. Now, we can't live without him? This is a talented Red Sox team that is playing fast, loose and with a lot of confidence. They have the ingredients needed to succeed. And it shows.
  13. What is going on with Mookie ? He is having an awful season.
  14. The Sox have not won the A L East since 2018. Now, they are poised to do just that. They are absolutely an improved team. There should be no argument about that.
  15. Payton Tolle has been promoted to AAA. Looks like they are fast tracking him to Fenway.
  16. Does anyone really think that the Sox could not beat the Astros in a playoff series? Or the Blue Jays ? Or the Tigers ? Or the Yankees ?
  17. A number of professions, and writers are most certainly one of them, have a mission to not simply report the facts, but to influence others as to how to think and what to believe. There is even a relatively new and growing field known as " influencers ". And most people, whether or not they realize it, are susceptible to being influenced, especially if they are predisposed in that direction. There are relatively few folks who are truly independent, think for their themselves and form their own opinions. And sports, including baseball is no exception to this.
  18. I think the trade deadline is overrated. There is so much hype that people get crazy. " It's the deadline. We have to do something. It's our last chance to improve. We need this. We need that. Do something, Breslow". And we saw the weeping and gnashing of teeth when Breslow didn't do enough to please them. But sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone. And the Sox are looking pretty good post deadline. All that anger for what ?
  19. No problem with the deadline .Sox have a good thing going. Plenty of winning momentum. Why mess around with a good thing ?
  20. With a win today, the Sox pass the Yankees in the standings. Two teams going in opposite directions..
  21. The green uniforms are a gimmick to sell more merchandise to the marks. And there is one born every minute.
  22. The question was " Are we good enough now "? The simple answer is, yes, we are. This is the best Red Sox team in several years.
  23. Why are we here ? That is the question. I don't know.
  24. The competition added more talent for sure. No doubt about that. The Sox will need the best efforts from the existing talent. I don't see any reason for despair. The team is playing with a lot of confidence right now. We'll see what happens from here on out.
  25. The ever greedy Lords of Baseball will always look for ways to extract more money from their loyal customers. It's getting to be more like pay-per-view.
