    Cora is pissed . He will tell the boys , " win tonight or no post game pizza ."

    D.D. emptied the farm of mostly overhyped , overripe produce . Nothing to weep over . He took them to market and came back with three A.L. East titles. Well worth it .

    The pitching coach , or hitting coach , as the case may be , is always a convenient scapegoat. Yeah. That's it . It's that lousy pitching coach . Fire him . Experienced , highly paid , veterans like Sale , Price and Porcello need better coaching .

    D.D. won three straight A.L. East titles by being aggressive. This year , for some reason , he stopped being aggressive.

    Cora is having a team meeting before tonight's game . He will tell them that ownership and management have so much faith in you that they did nothing at the deadline . Well , that and the fact that they don't want to spend any more money on this . And there was the insinuation that you were overpaid and underachieving. Let's go boys . Win this one or there will be no post game ice cream .

    Standing pat is seldom a good plan . I was always opposed to it . Some said it would not be a problem . Besides , if need be , we can always pick up something good at the deadline . Oops . Scratch that .

    Overall , the offense has done their part . One criticism might be that they don't seem to have a lot of comeback in them . When they are losing late , the game is pretty much over .

    There should be no thought of firing Cora . But please stop anointing him as the greatest .

    Here's hoping that facing the Yankee's hapless rotation will be just what the doctor ordered to get this team back on track . Still too soon to give up .

    Everyone likes to hold on to their young prospects. Most of whom will never amount to a hill of beans .

    With two months to play , the Sox have now lost 50 games . Last year we lost 54 for the year . Regardless of what old Pythagaras thinks , each game is a separate contest. You simply have to score more runs than the opponent. Whether it is through offense , pitching or defense doesn't matter . The Sox have not been doing that often enough this year . Will that change in the final two months ? We can only hope .

    The Yankee's rotation is an absolute mess . Cashman doing nothing about it is mind boggling .

    The game has changed . You can get by with your starters only going five or six . But you need a strong and deep bullpen. In the end , it is all one pitching staff . Would you say that our infield is producing, but our outfield is not ? What good does that do ? You win or lose as a team .

    Simply that sometimes you have to make a change . Even if it means spending more money . In the case of the Sox , it would be easier to improve the bullpen than the rotation. It has been that way since opening day .

    As we often hear at victory celebrations; " Red Sox fans are the greatest fans on earth ." Well , at least as long as you are meeting or exceeding their expectations.

    The pitching coach is usually the first to be axed . Easy scapegoat.

    I paid a mechanic plenty , but he did a lousy job with my car. I am going to keep bringing it back to him until he fixes it up to what I thought his capabilities were . My car still doesn't run right , but I am not going to pay another mechanic . Why should I ? I have spent plenty on the car already . Guess I'll walk .

    Jackie has a seven year career . He has established what he can and cannot do . No surprises here . He is what he is . Take it or leave it . Right now , we do not have a better alternative, no matter how you slice it.

    The Sox doing nothing at the deadline is not surprising . Dombrowski and Cora have said repeatedly that they think there is enough talent here to win it . So far , that has not happened . Will the final two months be different ? Possibly . We will find out soon enough .

    We just have to keep the faith with Sale . And hope he does better . But giving him that contract was questionable considering the red flags . Maybe a little too hasty .

    I would say that Price is simply not as good as those guys . Most of them anyway . Sale is , or should be , but something is missing with him .
