We need to be more objective. We need to consider results . Dombrowski made two major trades . Kimbrel and Sale . We had Kimbrel for three years . A hundred and something saves . Three times an All Star. Sale is still here . He has been one of the best , most dominant starters in the game . All Star starting pitcher twice . We beat the Yankees . Won the A.L. East THREE straight years . Never happened before . And we are crying about losing the likes of Logan Allen and Michael Kopech ? Neither is currently on an active roster . They have a total of three MLB wins between them so far . Dombrowski may not be very lovable . We may not like his style of dealing prospects , but let's try to be fair about it . When Bloom wins three straight A.L. East titles , I will be the first to applaud him.

Yanks blew another one tonight . They look a bit shell shocked , to be honest . Ottavino had nothing, yet doofus Boone left him in until he destroyed his ERA for the year.

That was last year . He had a very good year in 2019. No argument there. His OPS has never been above .750 in other years . It is .730 so far this year . I would have to see more to call him exceptional.

Comparisons to Theo remind me of the comparisons to Pedro . How many times have we heard , " This guy could be the next Pedro " ? It never seems to work out like that however .

Kimmi , Yes , we would probably disagree on the definition of " significant " return . We would also probably disagree on the quality of the prospects D.D. traded .

They have a new training staff . They fired last year's jabronis , and replaced them with the current jabronis . Same results .

Bell , You have a certain " Dilbert " logic about things . That is a good thing to have .

Kind of an odd love / fascination being shown for Logan Allen. San Diego has since re-packaged him to Cleveland . As far as I know , Padre fans are not lamenting this . He is currently not on the Guardians active roster . His somewhat less than illustrious MLB career so far : 2-3 record . 5.86 ERA . 35 innings pitched . 45 hits allowed . 20 strikeouts . 19 walks . He is now 23 years old , and on his way to Jabroniville . I do agree that he would fit right in with our current crop of jabronis . But I do not miss him at all.

It is not so easy to stay on top for several years while maintaining a strong farm . The system is designed to make it a " tough trick." Anyway , I'm not the kind of fan who is content with losing as long as I can say , " The future looks bright ."

The idea that we could trade Mookie to L.A. and then re-sign him as a free agent was nothing but a pipe dream . It was never going to happen like that .

Well , the team's record should count for something . The results have to count for something . It can't be all about the process . Maybe I just don't have the patience for five year plans . Bloom has not earned the " In Bloom we trust " faith . This is his team now . And it is not good . I do hope it is better next year .

I feel that prospects have two uses . One : To fill your present or future needs . Two : To trade for someone who can fill those needs . I have no problem trading them when the opportunity is there and the return is significant .

I just think the trust in Bloom is misplaced . Fifteen years in the game , never won a championship . Now his plan is to pretty much start from scratch with the Sox. I don't have much confidence in the guy . Not trying to argue with anybody . I just think Bloom is a small market guy who has become overrated .

We all have a tendency to look too deeply into things . Anytime Mookie was asked about it , he said he liked playing in Boston, but wanted to see what free agency had to offer . I think he was being honest. Sox ownership had decided to limit their spending, so they opted to trade Mookie for the best deal they could find . That was pretty much the end of it . They were not going to bid against the Dodgers after that . Mookie liked it in L.A. and took the Dodgers's offer . Whether the pandemic had anything to do with it is something we do not know. Obviously, the Sox are not as good a team without Mookie. Life goes on.

The Bloom supporters were quick to give him a pass for this season's horror show . Now it looks like they are already giving him a pass for next season as well . How long will this go on ? Four years , five years ? Some of us may not live that long.

MLB has had a large amount of injuries this season . This has affected the injury prone Yankees as much , if not more , than anyone. What we are seeing is that the Yankee minor league prospects , now being counted on to take up the slack, are simply not as good as they have been hyped. This is often the case with young prospects. The team taking the field for the Yanks these days is very mediocre.

I just received official notice that the tape of this game will not be going to Cooperstown. Apparently, they still have some standards . -
People do fall in love with the young prospects. In Chris Sale , the Sox got one of the premier pitchers in the game . Yoan Moncada has settled into being a pretty good , but not exceptional ballplayer. Michael Kopech is sitting out yet again while still living off his reputation as the next Nolan Ryan . He has a grand total of 1 major league victory to date . Sometimes these kids are really not worth falling in love over.
