  1. A momentum killer. Doom.
  2. The Jays have a tough lineup, but it is heavily right handed. I think they could be vulnerable to right hand power pitching , as we saw yesterday. Don't know if Richards fits that description. Short leash for sure.
  3. Houck clearly is legit and belongs in the rotation. All the talk about how he needs another pitch and should be in the bullpen is pure overthink and counterproductive. Together with Sale , they can revive the rotation and revive hope.
  4. It was indeed an epic collapse. And it definitely gave the whole chicken and beer thing more notoriety than it otherwise would have gotten.
  5. Actually , Heaney settled down. Gave his team a chance to come back. And they did.
  6. Actually , Barnes and Kimbrel are pals . Very supportive of each other.
  7. Barnes has made it clear that he likes to get ahead in the count with a first pitch strike. While that is a good plan , sometimes you can get ambushed . You don't want to get too predictable.
  8. One thing to look out for , whether with Matt Barnes or anyone for that matter , is the fatigue factor and little injuries cropping up. This is a long season following last year's abbreviated one.
  9. I'm not sure how much the crackdown on stickum has improved the offense . But the pace of games is still terrible and the hitters are still striking out like crazy.
  10. Versatility and flexibility seems to be a growing trend in MLB these days. Schwarber seems almost surely planned for first base and some outfield play.
  11. There is always the chance that a traded prospect will end up making you look dumb. But as a rule, you should not hesitate to trade prospects for a proven top talent. And today , baseball hungry Latin America is providing a steady flow of new prospects every year. It's fine to consider the future, but you do have to live in the present as well. When you see a chance for the brass ring, you have to go for it. ( None of that means that I am giving up on this season. Not at all. )
  12. We can't let our health be affected by a baseball team or anyone else for that matter , no matter how much we may like them. It is strictly a pastime for us and a lucrative living for them. Perspective is so important in life.
  13. Our entire lead over the Yankees is now due to our record in the head to head games. Other than that , we have not outperformed them. And they are certainly playing better than we are at the moment. This needs to change ASAP!!!
  14. I don't think we should have any campaign against another poster. Live and let live. If you don't like his stuff , don't read it . It's that simple. We can all make up our own minds about that.
  15. And some of his stuff is actually funny.
  16. I know. It wasn't you.
  17. And I can't see crying about giving up prospects. Prospects are prospects. Chances are they will never grow up to be as good as the guy you got for them. And there are more prospects coming along all the time.
  18. The thing I don't understand is mocking the Yankees's moves. They did a great job at the deadline. They got exactly what they needed, exactly what they were missing. And it is paying off already.
  19. The owners cannot complain about the Luxury Tax. They put it there. And they can get rid of it. I'm sure the Union wouldn't object if they did.
  20. Yup . I'm not volunteering . The old BDC went a long time without mods , and it got a lot crazier than this. Can't let these things bother you.
  21. It does hurt to see other team's deadline pick ups doing well and helping their team win ballgames . We can feel disappointed and a little envious, but we do need to make the best of it . We can always say , " Yeah , but look what they gave up . They mortgaged their farm and their future." That should help .
  22. It is sometimes surprising how many responses there are to the Ghost's over the top , obviously intentionally outrageous posts. But unless he gets personal or political , I don't see a reason to ban him. It's all part of the fun and it does give some folks a chance to show how super serious and knowledgeable they are by body slamming him . Or , he can simply be ignored. Sometimes we let too many things bother us.
  23. Crazy Joe Gallo.
  24. I think Cora has the player's respect. They are trying. I don't see them tanking at all. The problem is that some of them are just not that good. It stands to reason that the more good players you have , the better the team will be. The problem is how much are you willing to spend in dollars and prospects to get them? I do think Schwarber can help . Don't know how good he will be defensively , but he does have a lefty power bat. Sale is the biggest factor. And I don't get the reluctance some have to put Houck in the rotation. Just look what we are running out there now. Anyways , you can't give up on this team every time they hit a rough spot.
  25. Just trying to keep up and keep hanging in there. Like sands through the hourglass.
