  1. Going to game this Afternoon at Pawtucket, Sheffield is suppose to get his Triple AAA debut.
  2. So far so good for Tyler Thornburg, another good appearance last night. 1 inning, 1 hit, 1 K. Leaving in a few minutes for the PawSox game this afternoon. Sheffield making his debut for Scranton Yanks, Justin Haley going for PawSox. Not bringing the Bruins any Luck by watching them, so take the wife, and get some fresh air.
  3. Our old buddy Mauricio Dubon is hitting .343 at Triple AAA. Almost a sure thing he'll be called up soon for the Brewers.
  4. 4 hits, 5 Runs by the Yanks, that's hard to do with no HRS.
  5. You tell me. It hasn't changed? Probably hasn't changed, but teams are now learning how to Control a Players best years, while they are cheap.
  6. The Arbitration Process, has made signing a Pitcher as a Free Agent, a real gamble. Owners and GM's I think are starting to see this. Take Noah Syndergaard. Made his debut at 22, by the time he gets to FA, he'll be 29, you want to sign him say at 25+ million, at that age? He'll be 30 the year he signs and Pitches. Me, no. His better days are behind him. He'll start trending more down then up. Might get 2 or even 3 good years from him, but age and innings will catch up to you, as a Pitcher. Why I feel the smallest window for greatness, for any Player in the Majors, is a Pitcher. That's why I think when you pay 20+ million a year to any Player, I expect very good production. At 30+ a year, you better give it to me as an Owner.
  7. It is what it is, is something you cant control. In this case you can. Belichick uses this all the time, as far as Ref's making a bad call, or rules that are changed. But as far as Contracts, and signings, he'll never use this phrase. He controls it.
  8. Sportstrac has Kimbrel's market value at 16.5 million a year. Thanks for you service Craig, wish you well.
  9. Braves are 19-11, anything happens First Month of season, at 124 million a year total team payroll. Actually higher than I thought.
  10. To me any Pitcher that is getting 20+ million a year, is like going to High Roller Slots at the Casino. I also think long term you'll get more value at 30+ Million a year with a kid like Machado, then any Pitcher. Machado should give you 5-6 years of good productivity consistently, in long term, play every day,win you more games. Less of a gamble. 3-4 years of Dominance by a Pitcher, who Pitches every 5th day, more of a gamble, and less wins long term.
  11. He relied on his Fastball to get hitters out when he was younger, it helped all his other pitches, didn't need to throw strikes. Now Velocity is down as I expect, as you get Older. He now needs to command secondary Pitches for Strikes. Batters will wait for a hitters count on his Fastball. Todays hitters have been seeing 95+ mph fastballs since Single A. Fastball hard pitch to get by todays hitters nowadays. In College he was hitting 98-99. 5-6 MPH less off his fastball, makes him hittable. Now he must make adjustments, and stop thinking same kid as in College.
  12. Velocity doesn't make you an Ace in the "Art of Pitching" It helps, but command, and Brains helps more.
  13. He hits .240, plays good Defense, I'm fine. He's by no means Johnny Bench. Saw him at Double AA for a whole year, this is what I expected from him at the Major League level. 20 HRS, .300 avg. would never expect that. .240-.260, 10+ HRS, and good Defense, he did good.
  14. He's at 100 at bats, next 100 important. Then a decision has to be made, if your out of Top spot, and chasing the Yanks. Your aim is win Division, not Wild Card, when you have the highest payroll in Baseball.
  15. The smallest window for continued Greatness at any Position in Baseball is Pitcher. Very Rare you get 10 years of continued dominance at this Position, nowadays. Cut their innings, cut down number of Pitches, to try to save their arms. And its still a very small window. FA is a gamble at this position.
  16. Swihart was higher rated Prospect at that time, and Padres had no Young Catcher. He just hit in the Majors at Catcher, .274 in 84 games. Had years of control, Switch hitter. Major League ready.
  17. Think about Kimbrell Trade if Swihart was included instead of Margot. Would JBJ be our CF? Dombrowski seems to me compounds problems.
  18. Don't play him. Keep him on the bench. Put another kid in CF, at Pawtucket. What if that kid catches on, and does good, and can help the Sox, during year, you'll never know, way this Management is handling it now.
  19. If there is implications because of Contract, why play him at all. If he adds no value to the Parent Club, why play him. Put him on 6 month DL, and play a kid that might contribute. Make up BS injury, tell him your getting your contract, but your not in our plans.
  20. Release him, your going to pay him anyway. Bring up a kid from Double AA to Triple AAA to get some important at bats. If Castillo is useless he wont get picked up. This way we'll see if Dombrowski evaluation is correct. Why block another Prospect, if you have no plans to use him because of Salary. That's stupid.
  21. This to me better comparable player too. ^^^ For me at least I have to compare Positions.
  22. Duffy has now pitched 27 innings in Fenway and has allowed 8 HRS. I don't think good park for him.
  23. One thing, you want Betts leading off. With the way the bottom 3 are struggling at this point, if you bat Betts 3rd or 4th, might miss an extra at bat in a game. Could be a difference in a game. You want him up as many times as you can. 1 more run then your Opponent, is the only number I really care about.
  24. If Duffy continues this trend he'll give up 40+ HRs this season in 200 innings.
  25. Last 10 games they played, Vasquez, JBJ , and Lin are 9 for 99 with 5 RBI's.
