  1. I'll assist since I know the Yankees' injuries this year: Gerrit Cole - out for season Luis Gil - missed first 3 months Clarke Schmidt - pitched 2 1/2 months, then out for season Giancarlo Stanton - missed first 2 1/2 months of season Jake Cousins - out for season Jazz Chisholm - missed 1 month Fernando Cruz - missed 2 months Jonathan Loaisaga - pitched 2 months, then out for season Oswaldo Cabrera - played 1 1/2 months, then out for season Ryan Yarbrough - missed 2 1/2 months Aaron Judge - missed 2 weeks Mark Leiter - missed 1 month Luke Weaver - missed 3 weeks Austin Slater - missed 1 month Also DJL and Stroman missed a bunch of time, but that was probably a positive.
  2. Yamamoto pitched 8.2 innings of no hit ball tonight versus the O's, but lost the no hitter on his last batter as Jackson Holliday squeaked a HR over the fence to make it a 3-1 game. The Dodgers bullpen then came in and gave up a double, hit by pitch, walk, walk, and single to get walked off for the second game in a row. If I hadn't watched Game 5 of the WS last year I'd say this was the most absurd loss I'd ever watched.
  3. I guess we'll see what prevails this series then: The Yanks' recent propensity to wilt during an important series, or the Sox recent suckage
  4. Giolito's stats actually look pretty good. Does that match the eye test?
  5. We might regret it if any more starters get hurt, since all of our depth has been sapped (Cole/Schmidt out for year, Carrasco traded). But otherwise this is the smart move. Eat the money and let a higher upside pitcher (Schlittler) get some MLB experience.
  6. What's that Bible quote? Something about if you're lukewarm then you'll be cast down into a pit in hell.
  7. O'Hearn to the Padres, you can cross that one off your wishlist
  8. It's always hard to know how Coors Field affects hitters. LeMahieu became better than ever when he left, Arenado had a bit of a resurgence after leaving Colorado as well before he got old. My expectation for McMahon is probably like a .240 hitter who walks a lot and has some pop.
  9. He's not Suarez but still should be a big improvement for us. The Yanks are going from Peraza/Vivas' 25 wRc+ with mediocre defense at third base, to McMahon's 90 wRc+ with great defense.
  10. Yep, Boone is a pretty bad in game manager. I don't know how it compares to other managers though since I feel like every fan base has the same complaints. But one thing I do give him credit for is player management. He's never lost the locker room or there are never any press blowups, which is harder in NY since everything is magnified by the media. But that also makes me feel like he is too buddy-buddy with players and never holds them responsible for boneheaded mistakes.
  11. Let me know if you need some restaurant recommendations for NYC.
  12. You're welcome again!
  13. I made the first cut after striking out Volpe three times on some wicked 70 mph heaters/changeups. But I dropped out after his dad cursed me out, I don't need that kind of negativity in my life.
  14. It's just one of the many problems they've struggled with over the past month. From extended team-wide slumps on offense, to abysmal hitting with RISP, to bad defensive gaffes at crucial points in the game, to dumb baserunning late in games, to stupid managerial decisions (though this is year round)... June was certainly a month to forget in Yankeeland, and July isn't starting out any better.
  15. So are the Sox sellers at the deadline? They're only 3 GB of a wild card spot, and if Breslow believes in this team as much as he says he does then I would think they should be looking to add MLB talent at the deadline. Otherwise I guess 2025 will be yet another 'rebuild' year.
  16. Kettle Black is a great spot. I'll pickup wings from there occasionally when I'm visiting my parents. It was also one of my go to bars when I was under 21 and using my chalked ID to go drinking.
  17. Duran beat the throw by plenty so it wasn't a bad decision to go for 2. Just a bad overslide.
  18. It only took 10 minutes from when you posted this for it to go up to 53 unearned runs, lol.
  19. I know Wicked Monk. They moved from their old location to over by the Verrazano Bridge. It's become a cop bar now. Haven't been there in several years but I'm pretty sure it's still around.
  20. Yep I went to Xaverian too (graduated about 20 years ago). My parents still live in Bay Ridge but I'm living out in Queens now. I do remember Chadwick's but not that other place, must be before my time.
  21. Bay Ridge
  22. Some fun facts about the losing streak; - The 30 inning scoreless streak was the 5th longest in Yankees history - During the scoreless streak the Yankees only had a man reach 3rd base in 2 of those innings (both during extra innings) - During the last 7 days before last night's win, 9 of their 10 regulars in the lineup had a wRC+ under 60 (100 is league average), and 5 out of those 9 had negative wRC+
  23. Defense didn't help last night, but with the way the offense is playing there's no margin for error. Yanks pitching/ defense has given up 2.67 runs per game the last 6 games (and no more than 4 runs in any game). So to lose every single one of those games is strictly on the offense.
  24. I don't think I've ever witnessed the Yankees get shutout three straight games in my lifetime until today. 29 straight scoreless innings is pretty rare. At this point if they're gonna keep losing they might as well do it in record fashion.
