  1. Just joining after watching the first two. The Sox are ahead but the have also made several blunders that could have been or were costly. When Chavis stole 3rd Verdugo didn't get the message. That didn't hurt. Perez got up 0 and 2 on Stanton and proceeded to throw 4 balls. Then Bogaerts made an error on an easy ground ball and Perez got unlucky on 2 close pitches. We need tto play cleaner baseball.
  2. I'm with you on all the moves. Need to platoon for Dalbec. Would it be Marwin?
  3. Dewey, Cheatem & Howe
  4. He is certainly one option for the leadoff spot. From an article today, the Sox leadoff is deplorable The Red Sox actually have been among baseball’s worst teams when it comes to getting production from the No. 1 spot in the batting order. Hits 26th Batting average 28th On-base percentage 30th Slugging percentage 28th wOBA 30th OPS+ 30th I doubt that Duran could do worse, but the Sox could still trade to fill the position, but then what would they do with Duran?
  5. Yesterdays Worcester results: Jarren Duran, CF: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 BB, 1 R, 1 RBI, 1 K, 1 CS Marcus Wilson, RF: 3-4, 1 BB Franchy Cordero, LF: 1-5, 3 K We need a left handed bat and Duran is looking good. Wilson is also but a right handed hitter.
  6. I have a great deal of respect for both Bloom and Cora. I probably don't know or understand the issues faced by them in making moves to improve the team, but it does seem clear that moves should be made and soon. Santana is not getting it done, nor is Andreise. Others are struggling, but not everything can be fixed at once. Is it the CBT getting in the way of making moves or some other issue as yet undefined? I am for making moves to improve the team now.
  7. The weak areas are obvious and there are options which could be tried. Why not try at least some of the options? Cora has done good things that's why it is hard to understand the lack of action now.
  8. Richards walks the rookie to pitch to a left handed power hitter. Does that make sense?
  9. There was talk of trading Brayan Bello and another to pick up a 32 YO pitcher from the Diamondbacks. We need to keep our promising pitching prospects.
  10. Yes, and I recall someone said the same thing about Duran's striking out three times. Cordero has had a problem with striking out at the ML level as well. It does give one pause about both of them. I do think Cordero gets called up before Duran primarily because Duran will be given a chance to play in the Olympics. I think Duran with his speed is likely to be given a chance to lead off when he gets called up, probably in August.
  11. One note from Worcester yesterday is that Cordero went 1 for 5 but struck out 4 times. Gives one pause about promoting him.
  12. My brother sold his place on Damarascotta Lake a few years ago. We used to fish there every summer and catch a lot of bass, some really large ones. My brother is 85 now so the place got to be too much for him. Have a nice visit as Maine is a beautiful and still rural state.
  13. It will be interesting to see what the Sox do in the starting pitching area going forward. We don't appear to have an ACE this year. We have Houck possible in July and Sale in August, so there is hope internally. Could we design a trade to get a serviceable starter with a couple of years of control? With Brasier coming back the pen should be solid so it is beginning to look like we can make some noise if we reach the playoffs. Our defense and base running needs some help and we may already have help for the offense internally so going after starting pitching might be the smartest move.
  14. Is Cordero a leadoff hitter? That is what the Sox could use and yes they need another left handed bat. I think Duran goes to the Olympics and Cordero comes up.
  15. Position Player of the Week Jarren Duran (Worcester) There were a few good options here, and really you could flip a coin between Duran and his teammate who will come in as the honorable mention, but the heroics from the end of the week push him over the top. Duran walked it off in Worcester on Sunday to end their week, and to end a big-time six-day stretch for him. Over the last week Duran hit .385/.448/.692 with a pair of homers and a pair of doubles. Interestingly, Cordero was the alternate player of the week in Worcester. So we have two left handed outfielders who deserve a look or another look. Santana is the guy on the short leash.
  16. Lets keep all our prospects in Worcester and continue to play guys that don't get it done. Yeah.
  17. It's an example. Duran is being judged based on an ideal whereas the Sox have roster players who are far from ideal.
  18. You aren't concerned about Santana?
  19. The Sox played three games in high temperatures that can impact pitchers. We also made key errors in the game and only produced 3 runs off of 11 hits. That was not our best effort and a day off will help. help. Hope the minor injuries we experienced can be overcome without going to the IL.
  20. He was taking a lot of pitches right over the plate for a long period and he was slumping badly then. I hoped they would coach him to swing at any pitch right over the plate and he started doing that with better results. His hitting has improved to the point where he should not be sent down.
  21. Houck is also nearing readiness. He may come in as a long reliever at first so maybe replacing Andriese makes sense.
  22. Jarren Duran. RF: 3-4, 1 HR, 1 R, 2 RBI. Latest from Worcester. Lets give this kid a look and send Santana down.
  23. I believe Bloom will stick to the plan. That his moves to date have resulted in a competitive team has been somewhat unexpected and a plus. Our minor league prospect list has been strengthened and we have a likelihood of drafting well. I rate the job he has done to date as excellent. If anything I am impatient for him bringing up some of our better prospects now to improve our chances of playing in October. Maybe he will go the other way and pick up help at the trade deadline. As long as he keeps in mind the idea of sustainable excellence, I am all for it.
  24. The runs are piling up since they began watching for sticky substances on the baseball.
  25. How about a grand slam from Arroyo. Good move.
