  1. Wong is our catcher. Move to another area of this team.
  2. I think you are all wet..... Bloom and others consistently state that they are NEVER, NEVER told to stay below the luxury tax limit. So do they lie to us ALL THE TIME? Duran was not on their radar. They HOPED Casas would do as well as he's doing. They HOPED Wong would be their future catcher. They HOPED Yoshida would carry his bat from Japan to Fenway. They HOPED Verdugo would finally get out his funk. They HOPED Devers would give us another stellar offensive year. They HOPED Turner and Duvall would provide offense and leadership. They HOPED Bello would become a fixture in the starting rotation. They HOPED the bullpen would improve greatly over 2022. Many things went well....... I await for this winter....we'll know what Henry is all about after winning 4 titles. It's GO TIME.
  3. Abreu has been hot over last month. I hope we keep riding him. He doesn't need a day off. It's a go time.
  4. My latest core group (age) yrs of team control starting in 2024. Exchange any of them for a better talent. Here's our 'window of opportunity'. CC Wong (27) 5 yrs 1B Casas (23) 5 yrs 2B Reyes (29) 4 yrs SS Story (30) 5 yrs 3B Devers (26) 10 yrs LF Duran (27) 5 yrs CF Rafaela (22) 6 yrs RF Abreu (24) 6 yrs (it's not because of his first 3 games. Cora was very high on him during spring training) DH Yoshida (30) 4 yrs By all means, bring back Turner, Duvall and Verdugo or any other rentals. I am extremely pleased with our young and/or 'controlled' talent. We just need starting pitching, starting pitching, starting pitching, starting pitching. Get them while our position players are cheap.
  5. I agree with everything you said. Bloom will need to decide on Verdugo this winter. It's his walk year coming up. Or he can do nothing. But I think he has a value for someone.
  6. This Mookie Betts appearance is a painful reminder of the contrasting fortunes of the Dodgers and Red Sox Headline in Boston Globes. Contrasting Fortunes? LA Dodger won the Division in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 (won the World Series in COVID Season), 2022 and second place finish in 2021 while winning 106 games. MY ONLY POINT IS MOOKIE DID NOT CHANGE DODGERS FORTUNES. THEY'VE BEEN WINNING EVER SINCE 2013. Mookie joined a winning organization. Oh by the way, we have 4 World Series rings in this century, Dodgers have won just one in a 60 game abbreviated season. Good for them.
  7. We are not trading away Duran. He's under team control for 5 more years. Verdugo should be traded to make way for Abreu. He has more power potential. Left to right should be Duran, Rafaela, Abreu. Yoshida DH'ing.
  8. Abreu went 2-3 with a double, replacing ejected Verdugo.
  9. Yep...you are absolutely correct
  10. With all due respect to all of you, Henry did not spend $300M NOT to have Devers at 3B for the Sox. Stop it!!!!!!!
  11. Wilyer Abreu is joining the Sox with Duran going to IL. Not that I want Duran on IL but getting to see another young player will be fun. I really want him to show us his offensive prowess. I'm hoping he has a higher ceiling than Verdugo.
  12. The biggest disappoints this year were Cora insisting on playing Kike at short after knowing he sucked at short and couldn't hit and pitching Kluber "just one more start" after Kluber showed he had nothing left in his tank. He stayed with the two too long. Probably cost us 5 games or more. Worst use of $20M.
  13. I don't care what anyone says but there's really no excuse for swinging at that pitch. Unfortunately, I think that's who he is. Plate discipline is not his strong suit.
  14. Would you extend Casas?
  15. Core Group Update (team control starting in 2024 inc) CC Wong (5) 1B Casas (5) 2B Reyes (4)/Urias (2) 3B Devers (10) SS Story (5) LF Yoshida (4) CF Duran (5) RF Verdugo (1) DH ??????? SP Bello (5) SP Kutter (5) RP Whitlock (5) RP Winckowski (5) RP Bernardino (5) RP Llovera (5) RP Murphy (5) RP Walter (5) RP Houck (4) RP Schreiber (3) SP Sale (2) CL Jansen (1) RP Martin (1) SP Pivetta (1) I'm sticking with this for now. $60M.....3 starters at $20M?
  16. One thing we should all acknowledge is that it take more than one or two superstars to sustain a team through 162 game season. You gotta pack the 26 man roster with good baseball players. As an example, bunch of crummy pitchers in slots 11-13 will kill a team at some point. Replacement players should be good enough not only to hold the spot for an injured player but actually contribute when playing.
  17. My only point was had we signed Nate instead of Kluber, we'd be in a better place. Sure he is on IL now but his 19 starts, 2.69 ERA, 11-3 record, 123 IP (Bello is tops for the Sox at 119 IP) sure would have helped. Let's move on..... We really need to do a better job this off season. F for starters and A for Martin and Jansen last winter.
  18. We do backflips when a starter goes 5 innings. That adds up to 150 innings pitched in 30 starts. Oh my, times have changed. Where have real man gone?
  19. My only point was it seemed as though the Sox did not pursue him hard enough for whatever reason. Many people on this board thought he was injury prone.
  20. I had to change out batteries on my key board. I cut and pasted the article from MLB.com. I didn't want to mislead anyone. Not my comment.
  21. It's incredible to think had we signed Eovaldi and not Kluber, we'd be closer to being in the playoffs. I praised the Sox for signing Eovaldi when they did, coinciding with the final year of Porcello's contract. Sadly I was okay with letting Eovaldi go four years later thinking we had better options. Live and learn.
  22. 8. The 2022-23 free-agent field has been … not so great Look back at our list of the top free agents from what had seemed one of the deepest and most dynamic classes in recent memory, and there’s not a lot to make you feel warm and fuzzy right now. Without getting into all the specifics here, injuries have hindered the impacts of Judge, as well as top starters deGrom, Justin Verlander and Carlos Rodón. Top shortstops Trea Turner, Correa and Xander Bogaerts have all had less-than-dynamic campaigns, José Abreu is having the worst season of his career, and the most notable aspect of Willson Contreras’ year was that brief period when he was moved off the catcher position. Not every deal has been a dud, of course, and there’s a lot of time before the final evaluation of most of these contracts. But for now, it’s surprising how little impact has come from the upper echelon of last winter’s open market.
  23. Not much chatter here about what Kutter's been doing. He has to be in the rotation plans for next year, along with Bello and now Houck. His unique delivery and multiple pitches make him a legitimate starting pitcher.
