  1. Boston Red Sox calling up Tanner Houck on Thursday; righty will join Jarren Duran on roster for series vs. Yankees per MassLive. Nothing much to add......
  2. Nope, lose to us and win vs others......I don't believe they can get back in the hunt...too many teams to overcome...Sox, Ray, Blue Jays will not ALL tank. I just want them to think they can get back in it. Wild Card Berth, 2nd spot occupied by the A's, Rays 2 1/2 up on the A's. 3 1/2 back, Seattle 4 1/2 back, Yankees, Blue Jays, Guardians 5 1/2 back, Angels The boat can only hold two passengers....
  3. Hello? Buhler? Buhler? Anyone here? Everyone at work?
  4. Cynical me want the Yankees to stay in the race so they can add more payroll, go over the luxury tax threshold and lose their younger talent in a trade.
  5. A 6-3 lefthanded shortstop projected to be #1 pick by many landed on our lap. I wanted pitching but the kid seems to have future in the league. I'd think there's much more talent gap between Marcelo and Trey Ball than their draft positions, #4 vs #7. Ball set a low bar for future #1 Sox picks.
  6. Oh wait, I forgot about the lack of production from our 1B.
  7. So what do I complain about? Kike seems to be filling in nicely leading off. I don't have to see Santana on lineup card as often. Marwin's playing time is limited with Arroyo coming back. Whitlock is being used in higher leverage situations. Josh Taylor got his bad outing out of the way so he can go on another streak. Godfather said to Johnny Fontane...."You're going to act like a man. What's the matter with you?" Garrett the Johnny Fontane Richards has finally quit whining. Sawamura has adjusted to US's Bigger Balls. Japanese are smaller. Duran has been called up. Houck probably will be next. Chris Sale is on track. Life is good.
  8. I always think I'm smarter than sportswriters. I just can't write as well.
  9. I haven't seen anything on Chris Sale's rehab assignments but he maybe back by August 1st assuming no physical set backs. We need to tread water for next couple of weeks, not going deep dive against AL East foes. Our pitching scares me a little.
  10. Per MLB.com, Power Rankings 4) White Sox (7) The White Sox sweeping the season series over the Orioles in the first-half finale was an indication of how this season has gone for them so far -- Chicago has won 26 of 31 games against the four teams with the worst records in the AL: the Orioles, Rangers, Royals and Twins. Against everyone else, they’re 28-30. And the second-half schedule is favorable for the South Siders: they have the fifth-easiest remaining schedule in the AL, behind only the Rays, Tigers, Royals and Astros. We're 32-24 vs +.500 teams. Not sure why we're ranked behind a team with 28-30 vs .500 teams. We're #5. It doesn't make sense. Not a big deal.
  11. I seriously doubt Bloom would give up on Dalbec this soon.
  12. Yep....Hey we could be here talking about last year's team....
  13. It's 'rumored' that Tanner Houck is also getting promoted...No it's not coming from me, a poster on SoxProspects. Do we need a link?
  14. You have good memory.
  15. So you think he got better the last 30 days?
  16. So I will tell you I took much grief from many of you about Duran. It was my contention that he can help us BASED ON WHAT BLOOM HAD SAID ABOUT HIM. My point was NOT that he'd be starting CF (it's ok if he can keep the job) but that maybe he can help us. What the f*** do we have to lose with trying out these players? He's not 18, he's 25 or something. We're playing for the pennant. Send his ass back down if he's NOT helping. Why NOT exhaust every avenue trying to make the team better?
  17. His agent is stupid. Let's do the math. We'll round the numbers to $19M. It's actually $19.375M. So at the end of 2022, all JD has to do is to sign a two year deal for $26M or $13M per year. He would have earned total of $45M (the amount agent is going after). Anyone here don't think JD can earn $13M per year? Fire the sucker.
  18. This is really a good table to look at. For those struggling, I'd ask Cora to bat me 8th, I believe we lead the majors for that slot.
  19. Houck has started 3 or 4 times since returning from his injury. All is well with him it appears....
  20. Okay let's get this right. I've been harping on this for Months. Cot's baseball is my go to link. We are $4.5M under the cap WITHOUT Santana's salary. It used to be that his contract amount was listed as $1.75M or so, but the amount was NOT included in the luxury tax payroll. It was simply left blank. I actually e-mailed them POINTING OUT the error. They did NOT respond, however now they have COMPLETELY delisted Santana from our 40 man roster. Santana signed a major league contract sometime in May. Our gap is LESS THAN $4.5m. STUDY IT, LEARN IT. MEMORIZE IT.
  21. His issue is he's seen as a DH and not as a left fielder. Think of David Ortiz.
  22. He's already making $4.575M as arbitration I player. Think of Mookie Betts when he reached A2 and A3.
  23. Not to nitpick but Devers will get $8-$10M in 2022.
  24. Seabold finally making his first start... Connor Seabold is indeed making his season and Red Sox organizational debut tonight in the FCL. He's been shut down since the end of April with "minor soreness" in his elbow but had no structural issues when checked out. He's been throwing in Florida for a while. Connor is ranked #6 in SoxProspects and he came from the Phillies along with Nick Pivetta in Hembree/Workman trade.
  25. You are correct in what you said. I like to think I'm being consistent. Maybe not. I don't want any prospects being traded, that may not be possible. I don't think Bloom is ready to demote Dalbec. What I thought I said was the management will be patient with Dalbec. But we need better production from 1B especially against right hand pitcher. Thus the need for platooning. If we have Arroyo and Kike, I'm not sure we need Marwin. Santana should be gone. I would think Duran is an upgrade over Santana. Against right hand pitcher, you can play Duran in CF and Kike at 2B and a lefty platoon partner at 1B. That gives us additional 2 left handed hitters hopefully more productive than Marwin/Santana combo.
