Hey my old favorite, how about Joey Votto? I always thought he'd be great in Sox uniform. Two more years of contract left at $44.5M. He'll solve our 1B problem until Casas is ready. Supporting a .889 OPS. What the hell, sign Kimbrel, Votto and Scherzer.....Yeah, I've had few beers.

Despite Scherzer's reported preference for West Coast teams, Red Sox ownership is encouraging a final push for the 37-year-old, according to The Athletic's Jim Bowden (subscription required). The club is reported to be particularly motivated by the prospect of Scherzer backing up Chris Sale, who is nearing his return from Tommy John surgery, down the stretch. Thank God John Henry smells another championship.

Jonathan Schoop, Tigers 1B/2B With 17 home runs and a .799 OPS, Schoop is having a solid offensive season for the rebuilding Tigers. He’s on a good contract -- he’s owed less than $2 million this season -- and will be a free agent at the end of the season. Schoop could opt to sign an extension to stay in Detroit, but if those talks stall, he can add some pop to a contender in need of a lineup boost. We need an infielder to add to our current roster as Marwin, Arroyo and Santana are all out for extended period. Chavis just sucks. Our only other alternative is Kike at 2B. We can go JD, Verdugo and Renfroe in outfield but then who DH's against left handed pitching? Moon, you're good at this sort of thing. What do we do?

We better replace Richards with Houck......maybe someone will take him off of our hands for PTBNL. He was hit hard all day.

Richards should have pulled after 3 innings....that would have pitching 5 innings in a 9 inning game.

I would pay FULL PRICE just not watch this game become a 9 inning game. That would be cruel.

Richards.....8 hits, 1 walk, 4 ER, 4 innings pitched. That's the pitcher he is.........waste of $10M.....he needs to come out of rotation ASAP

He's getting hit hard. Our starters are getting plenty of rest. Even though it's a double header, this will be Houck's second start. E Rod only went one inning last time out. Time for gut check. Man up time.
