  1. So Tanner doesn't pose health risk in US but does in Canada? I love our new science. 2+2 is now 5.
  2. GM IP-(ER) Pitcher 01 5.0-(3) Eovoldi 02 5.2-(4) Pivetta 03 3.1-(3) Houck 04 4.1-(1) Wacha Quality 05 4.1-(3) Hill 06 5.0-(2) Eovaldi Quality 07 2.0-(4) Pivetta 08 5.2-(0) Houck Quality 09 5.0-(0) Wacha Quality How to speed up games? Just watch Wacha pitch. Get the ball back, throw. Similar to Whitlock/Houck. He looks pretty darn good to me. Yeah I know it's the Twinkies. Great command.
  3. Most definitely. Then you won't need a $30M/year starter, not even close. You'll also need couple of guys on strict 'cleaner' roles. Guys that can come in and just pitch to eat innings where games are lost.
  4. Darwinzon Hernandez pitching line: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K, 0 HBP. WooSox lead 9-0 in the top of the fourth inning. At some point, do you evaluate a pitcher solely on WHIP and not on BB/9innings? Please don't be flippant. Does his ability to strike out hitters factor into his walk ratio? If he's allowed to start a 'clean' inning, does it ultimately matter if it's a base on balls or base hits? Base on balls is just one base. Hits can be multiple bases. Say in 10 innings, I rather have Darwinzon pitch with his strike out ability than say Brasier. Brasier can't pitch out of runner on second with no outs without giving up a run. He almost has to be lucky that hard hit balls goes to a fielder.
  5. Whitlock threw 10 sliders and got 9 called strikes + whiffs. He also hit 97 and had 12.5 mph of separation between his sinker and changeup. He's ridiculously good. per SoxProspects. He's a throwback....keep rowing.....I know he's married but boy he would be a great pick up for my daughter...lol.
  6. In large part it will depend on Paxton's ability to come back and pitch well. I like Eovaldi and I may give him $22M but no more than for 3 years. We finally have Price's $16M coming off and JD's $22M for sure. This will be an exciting winter in my opinion. It should set the tone for next five years, I hope. There should be an attraction playing for Boston with its fanbase. Stadium is full. Team will look to be competitive each year (let's just forget 2020 other than the fact that we got the #4 pick). I'm pretty sure E Rod would rather pitch for the Sox. He took the money and he'll be able to take care of his family very well in exchange for spending 6 months in Detroit for few years. So few fans in such a big stadium.
  7. GM IP-(ER) Pitcher 01 5.0-(3) Eovoldi 02 5.2-(4) Pivetta 03 3.1-(3) Houck 04 4.1-(1) Wacha Quality 05 4.1-(3) Hill 06 5.0-(2) Eovaldi Quality 07 2.0-(4) Pivetta 08 5.2-(0) Houck Quality
  8. Question for all you pitching gurus..... How does Whitlock warm up on his game days? Can we assume that Cora/pitching coach lets him know he maybe called? Does his pregame routine differ from say Barnes due to anticipated innings to be pitched? Is he good and warm 'more' than say a traditional closer when he comes in? Or does he warm up like any other pitcher? How do you warm up as a starter that comes in in 5th or 6th or 7th inning to pitch 3 or more innings?
  9. We speak of 'serious' offer but no one knows what that is......I don't care what other shortstops received. If the offered amount is correct, then Sox simply doesn't value Xander as much as many fans do. No freaking way I give Xander $30M for say 6 more years. TV ratings only go down if Sox becomes non competitive. With a payroll of $230M, I doubt we become the Orioles. We'd have the dumbest front office if that's the case. How many of you are going to quit watching the Sox if he goes elsewhere? That's the real question. Are you now going to become a Dodgers fan? I have two options. Watch the Sox or don't watch the Sox. I don't care to watch another baseball team. As long as there's a hope that the team will be competitive, then I'll watch them.

  12. Hell that would be a quality OPENER.
  13. Xander stat line for 2021.....23 HR, 79 RBI, .863 OPS another player's stat line.....25 HR, 78 RBI .792 OPS Latter makes league minimum, do you really want to pay Xander 8 years @ $30M? Borass, come again?
  14. Not sure why there's no talk of Eovaldi extension. Afraid that the day after he'll have another Tommy John surgery? Or turn into Matt Barnes?
  15. GM IP-(ER) Pitcher 01 5.0-(3) Eovoldi 02 5.2-(4) Pivetta 03 3.1-(3) Houck 04 4.1-(1) Wacha 05 4.1-(3) Hill 06 5.0-(2) Eovaldi In 2021, Eovaldi started 32 games, 7 times pitching into 6 innings (and less than 7) and 7 times pitching into 7 innings. Longest stint was two 7.2 inning starts. He pitched at least 5 innings in 28 of his 32 starts. He really had a good and healthy year. Some may say a Porcello like. In 2021, Pivetta started 30 games, 10 times pitching into 6 times (and less than 7) and 1 time pitching into 7 innings. Longest stint was one 7.0 inning start. He pitched at least 5 innings in 20 of his 30 starts. Moon, was quality start considered to be 6 innings and 3 runs or less?
  16. Yep. This is whey Bloom saw signing Story was a higher priority than Suzuki for reasons people here should know. It makes sense despite all the talk of Story/Xander playing together for long term. I can just imagine Boras' volumes of 'reasons and benefits' as to why Xander deserves $30M/8 year deal. Good luck with that.
  17. He has good stuff. I hope he's given a good look. Another multiple inning guy.
  18. My Bullpen Ranking after Detroit series 1 Whitlock 2 Barnes 3 Robles 4 Diekman 5 Strahm 6 Sawamura 7 Valdez 8 Brasier 9 Kutter 10 Davis
  19. I was a big fan of E Rod. I just think it was time to part ways. I didn't want to watch him pitch for five more years.
  20. Eovaldi is getting better. Not sure about E Rod.
  21. Except E Rod has a five year deal. Paxton and Hill may only last 1 year. Bloomisque.
  22. 8 yr, $248M deal. In his 6 years, the team has only finished above .500 once, in 2016 when they finished 2nd. Since then, 3 5th place finishes and 2 3rd place finishes. I wonder how much revenue he generated for the team?
  23. $32M to watch him hit his milestones is high price. Another $32M next year to watch him do what?
  24. Another one of those frustrating guys to watch....always with high pitch count. I'm glad he's with the Tigers. A waste of $15M in my mind and Bloom's obviously.
  25. I can't see Sox keeping Davis when Taylor comes back. 4 lefties in the pen? At the very least, I see Davis gone when the roster is trimmed to 26 players. I'm encouraged by our pitching thus far. Kutter has good stuff. He's better than both Brazier and Sawamura. Eventually we'll score some runs. I just worry about JBJ in right. He's incapable of squaring up his bat to the ball. Countless weak ground balls. He's right up there with Marwin and Santana. It's scary to think they both hit better than JBJ. Ugh.
