  1. I'd have rather given 95 million to an over-the-hill Nomar just so he could get the money for actually giving a s*** about playing MLB.
  2. David Ortiz's entire career as a Sox and the money he actually was given in salary v. Crawford, Sandoval...disgusting.
  3. This guy made more money as a Sox than the 1967 Sox made in their entire careers combined....think about that for a while...that should make any person sick.
  4. The Sox spent years nickel and diming already Sox on new contracts and while many worked out in Sox favor after the fact, it certainly goes to show how silly the Lester contract negotiations were. Laughable now.
  5. As a member of the VinaGosko March N Chowdah Society, when you start making statements that pitchers don't pay their dues, you are completely daft.
  6. Price contract will pay off because he will finally win a playoff start (hoping :-) ) Sandoval and CC can't be matched. Both are and were travesties as Sox.
  7. Rusney deal was unbelievable at the time. It was the Puig Gold Rush...teams clamoring to sign an unproven player and the Sox won the bidding, sadly.
  8. Darling somehow came off as the most genuine of the "fans" who were interviewed. Yaz is up, his mom would yell and everyone ran to the radio. Petrocelli's accounts were great, and Jim Lonborg, what a helluva pitcher and great guy.
  9. Here's the best part of that 5some although it was more about Pedro striking domination of the AL ERA title. Pedro-Sox. Clemens-former Sox. Mussina-should have been Sox, but last second Yank, thus allowing DD to net Manny, and Colon, who later played for Sox and incredibly 17 years later was still in MLB.
  10. I remember little things about the late 60s/early70s Sox, but it was the 75 Sox that really had me hooked. Playing baseball, collecting Sox cards (Freddy Lynn rookie four-square card), and scoring games off the TV. Made a bet with my elementary school teacher 75 cents and he won with the Reds (and I paid him with 3 quarters, which for me was a lot back then). Basically I was born a Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Patriots fan, and when the Pats won in 01, the Bruins in 11, and the Sox in 04,07,13, I can tell you that nothing pissed me off more than watching bandwagoners jump on from other teams, other locales, and then have people say I'm a bandwagoner. No I suffered through the agonies and the many special great moments of the pre-Brady/Bellichick Pats, the pre-Francona/Epstein Sox, etc. Go Sox!
  11. If only the Sox had Kevin Cash to call pitches. Is this Sox retro chat? Where the white women at?
  12. Spend less money on the Morelands of the world.
  13. Sandoval, Crawford....could not handle the money or the weight of wearing a Sox jersey...enough paying for guys who are potential wrecks.
  14. I really don't have a problem if Lin and Marrero played at 3b rest of season. They get enough hitting and fielding from the position of late.
  15. Jackson was phenomenal, I would add him to the Top 10 List. At the time he was NFL/MLB, it said a lot about his athleticism to be a power hitter and a powerful RB. It was too much to ask him to be both for too long. The NFL hitting took its toll
  16. Greatest Athletes? Jordan, Orr, Jim Brown, Jackie Robinson, Jim Thorpe, and Babe Diedrickson for women.
  17. Lovullo proved his worth last year, I still think this guy is the epitome of class and loyalty. Makes him a better manager prospect now than when he was actually doing the job last year.
  18. thank you, jbay
  19. I have to say that seeing moon and the word "rookie" by him just doesn't seem right at all.
  20. Bad News Barnes continues his Sox saga
  21. Hi, I enjoy my morning coffee, I like long walks on the beach...I'm a Sox fan and I try to have some fun on the board. I don't post as much as I used to, and I once was a member of Can-Land on the very old Globe boards...back when some of the chatters were hysterically funny and not as serious as today's posters get way too often, including the idea that it's okay to make things very personal. Look forward to good Sox chat.
  22. Where all the white women at??
