    Holt made a tremendous play at 2b and has filled in adequately. Don't really care if he leads off or not.

    Izzy Alcantara had one of baseball's all-time meltdowns in the minors. I think he took his bat and started swinging it at the pitcher and all hell broke loose.

    Nothing like Carl beating his chest like he reached a milestone on the hit off Moose. I have to admit that was fun to watch (saw it on TV live) considering it was ruining a Yankees' perfect game. Didn't need to see another Righetti no-no.

    LMFAO at Manny/Nomar...so true...or don't forget the Jimy Williams "mandatory rests." Farrell and Tito did the same but problem was when Jimy did it it was usually when the Sox couldn't buy hits from anyone other than Manny/Nomar.

    Brock Holt has not seen MLB pitching for what 2 months? Xander hasn't done much overall of late and if Hanram isn't hitting and Moreland isn't hitting, then that's how you can get shutout (over 7 innings). Sox just have to plug away, they are in an overall hitting slump. But they will start hitting again and it will be majestic. Once that happens, the Sox will extend a lead in the division. The pitching, both starting and relieving is fine.

    Blue tops might be a little better, but still feels like exhibition game.

    The Red Tops always come off as exhibition jerseys to me. If you are going to go alternate go with those funky white hat, throw back milk man jerseys, at least you have some sort of like "hey, that's pretty cool," or "my god, they look like a milk man's convention!"....or find a new one...throwback 70s...The Red top? yawn.

    The eye test doesn't fail on Yaz, Lynn, Evans and Betts, Bradley as 5 truly terrific defensive outfielders and Darren Lewis for what it's worth could play wicked good defense as well. I felt Ellsbury did a good job as well, but often he made up for late jumps with his speed. In the current series with Sox, Ellsbury reminds me that he covered the ground very well in Fenway.

    Everyone always talks about Teddy Ballgame as larger than life. I feel that way about Yaz. This guy just ooozes respect and professionalism (and he was booed by fans for dogging it and booed even more for the perception he got Dick Williams fired). He was and is an all-time icon. Like the interview for that documentary, it's literally talking to a legend. The '75 All-Star Game. Wow, the Natural. I mean the way he walked up to the plate. His great clutch hits in 75 and his defense in LF after Rice got hurt, 78 Playoff HR off Guidry. Yaz wasn't the last of that Era of baseball, but he sure as hell is the only Sox player that I feel like I'm a little kid just listening to him or watching old highlights. He just was a God to me.

    Oh yeah, I had a Sparky Lyle poster on my door when was in Boston. But those who know me, know that's part of the aura. I was a big time Lyle fan, I think because of the first name and he was pretty good too. Oh if they only held on to him....75,78...arggggggh. I can't remember who they traded him for, some guy whose name escapes me.

    roy, in '75, I went to an Angels game that I'll never forget in Anaheim after we moved out to the Left Coast. Tiant v. Tanana. It was a great pitching matchup and both threw 4-hitters except Tanana struck out like 13 or 14 batters. But here's the thing that I'll never forget about that game. Tony Congilario pinch hit for...Fred Lynn. Yup. Lynn struck out like 3 times and in the 9th Johnson sent up Tony C who I think also struck out. Frankie was sick awesome back then when he had an explosive fastball to go with his slider. Him and Nolan Ryan. Angels just had little else those years and some offense, but not enough. Lynn goes on to win ROY, MVP...but he really did get pinch hit for in that game.
