    That's a possibility although the Red Sox would have less payroll flexibility if Kenta Maeda meets his salary incentives.

    The Red Sox face a tall task trying to improve on an 84-win club that received career years from Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers, Christian Vazquez, Eduardo Rodriguez and Brandon Workman. The Sox may expect positive regression from some of Chris Sale, Nathan Eovaldi, Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. but 2020 may be the perfect year to step back with an eye on 2021 and beyond.

    The Dodgers reportedly negotiated the proposed trade to keep under the luxury tax threshold. Assuming the entire David Price contract would likely be a deal-breaker for the Dodgers.

    The Red Sox did well. On an MLB Trade Rumors poll, I gave the Red Sox an A and the Dodgers and Twins Bs. Good trade all around (assuming players pass physicals because each team assumes injury risks).
