  1. The Red Sox could ask for Dustin May while the Dodgers, who are negotiating from a position of strength, could ask for Triston Casas and Bobby Dalbec. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/players/8834/ https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/players/7832/ https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/players/7960/ Probably not happening.
  2. The Padres are unlikely to assume the $57 million owed Mookie Betts and David Price this year (even with shedding Wil Myers' $22.5 million salary).
  3. The Dodgers, who have won seven straight division titles with two recent trips to the World Series, would probably just walk away from the deal instead of upping the ante.
  4. With incentives, last season Kenta Maeda earned $8.525 million in 153.2 innings over 37 appearances, including 26 starts: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12Fdcz-v1dHv7WUA6N73JhLNL7cZ-JCaUSRyh8LQvG7A/edit#gid=1570933962 https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/maedake01.shtml That's about $8 million more than Brudsar Graterol's 2020 salary
  5. That's a possibility although the Red Sox would have less payroll flexibility if Kenta Maeda meets his salary incentives.
  6. The Red Sox face a tall task trying to improve on an 84-win club that received career years from Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers, Christian Vazquez, Eduardo Rodriguez and Brandon Workman. The Sox may expect positive regression from some of Chris Sale, Nathan Eovaldi, Andrew Benintendi and Jackie Bradley Jr. but 2020 may be the perfect year to step back with an eye on 2021 and beyond.
  7. The Dodgers need not offer anything more if Alex Verdugo and Kenta Maeda have passed their physicals. Brusdar Graterol should not be the Dodgers' problem.
  8. The Twins are unlikely to trade two Top 100 prospects for Kenta Maeda.
  9. Jordan Balazovic: https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/19697-Deal-hits-major-Snag-we-need-something-added-or-different-player?p=1305940#post1305940
  10. The Dodgers reportedly negotiated the proposed trade to keep under the luxury tax threshold. Assuming the entire David Price contract would likely be a deal-breaker for the Dodgers.
  11. With the proposed trade, each team assumes an injury risk, especially the Dodgers with David Price and his rumored net annual salary of $16 million.
  12. Perhaps the Red Sox asked for Jordan Balazovic but settled for their second choice in Brusdar Graterol. Or not.
  13. Because the Twins have the asset in question, the Dodgers should not be asked to sweeten their contribution.
  14. What if righthander Jordan Balazovic replaces Brusdar Graterol in the deal? https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=balazo000jor Balazovic, who is three weeks younger than Graterol, lacks the latter's MLB-readiness but is similarly ranked at MLB Pipeline: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2020?list=prospects … and similarly rated at FanGraphs: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-33-prospects-boston-red-sox/ https://blogs.fangraphs.com/top-43-prospects-minnesota-twins/
  15. What if righthander Jordan Balazovic replaces Brusdar Graterol in the deal? https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=balazo000jor Balazovic, who is three weeks younger than Graterol, lacks the latter's MLB-readiness but is similarly ranked at MLB Pipeline: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2020?list=prospects
  16. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that Alex Verdugo has been "medically cleared," according to MLB Trade Rumors: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/02/latest-on-potential-mookie-betts-trade.html
  17. We don't know whether the consummated deal was better than, worse than or the same as earlier offers. We're confident that Chaim Bloom waited until late in the offseason to pull off the trade.
  18. The Dodgers reportedly will trade Joc Pederson and one-time All Star pitcher Ross Stripling to the Angels, who might compete in the loaded American League West.
  19. https://highheelsonthefield.typepad.com/all_heels_on_deck/2019/02/dodgers-after-dark-the-sexual-assaults-mlb-never-investigated-a-teams-culture-unexamined.html
  20. The Red Sox did well. On an MLB Trade Rumors poll, I gave the Red Sox an A and the Dodgers and Twins Bs. Good trade all around (assuming players pass physicals because each team assumes injury risks).
  21. Agreed, but how do the Red Sox go about rebuilding the farm?
  22. Is that language necessary on this friendly baseball forum? Calm down, take a deep breath and consult a trusted support person. FWIW, I too like the trade ... for all three clubs.
  23. That would include David Price and Brusdar Graterol.
