  1. Offense especially and defense were problems tonight
  2. Is he supposed to kidnap them? That you said “signed Josh Bell” actually takes credibility away from you. It’s ok to be frustrated. But there’s no need to be ignorant about this stuff…
  3. True. But right now Cora appears to have a “f*** It” squad that he uses together consisting of Robles, Danish, and Diekman. Apparently his logic is why waste even a semi-effective reliever if one of these guys is going to blow the game anyway? But Cora, particularly with his usage of Houck and lately Robles, is far from blame-free with this bullpen..
  4. Yes. And he needs to stop doing that, although it wasn’t the question. And Cora is the one who puts him in…
  5. The GM doesn’t put relievers into games…
  6. Well then tell me what contenders are looking for unproductive shortstops…
  7. Yes it is truly awful that his teams have a .564 winning pct covering the last two seasons. I know it’s not exactly Dombrowski, whose first two seasons soared to a .574 winning pct, making them a whopping 1% better. But I think we can adjust…
  8. I think you overvalue what it will cost to get 2 months of Josh Bell…
  9. I’m glad you’re not our GM….
  10. There were a decent amount there yesterday…
  11. The Red Sox if they dealt Bogaerts, for one…
  12. Actually, what’s your point? The Sox are alive and doing well in the post season picture RIGHT NOW. While GMs do have to look towards “next season” all the time, and especially this time of year, that doesn’t mean they ignore the present…
  13. I’m not quite with you on Cordero, who looks like a bench bat/strong side platoon OF to me. He’d probably be better in CF than he’s been at 1b. I suspect Josh Bell/Jesus Aguilar/short term rental to be there by the end of the month…
  14. Robertson is fine. Ditto Michael Fulmer. Both will be on multiple radars…
  15. Teams trade for unproven players every July. In fact, nearly every deadline deal involves at least one. Last year the Sox bulked up the pen and got a premier bat while giving up Aldo Ramirez, Alex Scherff, and Michael Chavis. Are we pretending those were elite established players?
  16. Since May1, Robles has 1 save, 3 holds and 5 blown saves. That’s as unreliable as it gets for an alleged MLB reliever. And yesterday’s blown save came in one of the easiest opportunities any reliever will ever see…
  17. So your argument is he’s “unproductive” but he still can be dealt for elite prospects? Explain…
  18. He wasn’t “nails” in Philadelphia…
  19. If the price is a 23yo A ball third sacker having a career year, it’s worth seeing if it’s the “real Robertson.” And truth be told, it doesn’t have to be. As long as he’s an improvement over Robles and Barnes, it’s worthwhile…
  20. Because we’re in the playoff hunt and his “unproductive” stretch is all of two weeks. But let me guess - now that the Sox lost to a bad Cubs’ team, you think they’re clearly not going anywhere. The 43 wins were the outlier; yesterday was the real Sox team…
  21. But if the Sox acquire one good reliever plus move Whitlock to the bullpen, the situation improved drastically, unless they also pull out relievers to fill the rotation. But a pen of Robertson, Houck, Whitlock, Schreiber, Davis, Strahm, Diekman, and Brasier is a huge step up. (I’d DFA Barnes and Robles today, but I doubt Bloom does.)
  22. BTV gives Robertson a surplus value of 0.7, which makes him equal to many Sox prospects, none of whom are very exciting. Nick Northcut (0.8) is probably the most intriguing game based on 2022 numbers…
