  1. Did Dalbec die?
  2. Does San Diego have any prospects left?
  3. Mayer to SD j/k
  4. Or send Bradley to SD…
  5. There’s no irony in people complaining about bolstering the farm and also complaining that other teams are able to swing deals for superstar talent. None at all…
  6. A little over 4 hours left to see if Nate and/or JD will be changing uniforms. I’ll admit it - mixed emotions…
  7. Reportedly they had a permutation for just such a contingency. Apparently San Diego will now try desperately to move Hosmer to a team not listed on his NTC. (MLBTR cited “one of the 20 teams not listed. Obviously it’s just one of the 19, as the Padres are unlikely to deal Hosmer to themselves.) It will be interesting to see if San Diego can sign Soto and have a roster with him, Tatis and Machado all making $30mill+…
  8. And the 2019 Red Sox won a title? You did use the word “guarantee”…
  9. Even bigger than Diekman-McGuire…
  10. The best are the ones who say no team will ever want to play for the Sox. Because experience has taught us all that every one of the29 other teams is so much nicer to its players…
  11. Neither does spending tons of money on free agents…
  12. So? It will always be true. Teams can re-sign any player they deal away, Just because it didn’t happen in 3 instances spanning 8 years don’t make it less true. It does at best make it less likely, but that was always the case when the Sox are but one of 30 potential teams. One reason it usually doesn’t happen is the team - not the player - has no interest in a reunion, and never makes an offer. I suspect that will happen with Vazquez. But again - keeping Bogaerts changes that, doesn’t it?
  13. A pattern? Are we equating trading Vazquez and Diekman to trading Betts? The Sox are holding Bogaerts, which certainly breaks that pattern.
  14. Watching NESN while sharing a couch with the Grim Reaper?
  15. Best offer plus a hug?
  16. It’s absolutely a reason why he would. Doesn’t mean he necessarily will…
  17. Side effect of Cialis?
  18. Best offer…
  19. Rather than scouting for it again, what was your answer?
  20. We can discuss his grade from me once you tell me which Mookie deal was the option he should have pursued. I’ve only posted the options for you three times…
  21. It’s that you keep calling out Bloom for doing nothing about positions they’ve clearly been trying to fix. You can only trade when another team is willing. Like 1b. They had a clear plan. Use Shaw and Dalbec and maybe Casas can force himself into the mix. Franchy Cordero was NOT part of the opening day platoon. He wasn’t even on the opening day 40 man roster, let slone the 26 man roster. And like Shaw or not, his resume does include being a starting 1b for multiple MLB teams. He just didn’t work out this season, unlike a couple other players who came to the organization with far less impressive careers, such as Schreiber and Refsnyder…
  22. Lest we forget the should-be-forgotten Julio Valdez, the worst Sox perpetrator of all time…
  23. I cheered for Cone in 2001, but beyond a singular “hot parking lot” joke, I’m not calling out McGuire either. See, that’s called consistency. Not hypocrisy…
  24. The thing to me is they had clear OF and bullpen and even 1b plans before the season. However, injuries, weak depth, and some players just flat out not producing made them all weaknesses. It’s not like any of them were ignored. And when you have weaknesses like that, your only options are internal ones until other teams are willing to trade. To me, the Sox absolutely did not exhaust all internal options, but I am not going to pretend they didn’t try them…
  25. Some people are just never happy…
