  1. I wonder how many would think he was promising if they knew his fastball sat at 86-90mph. That’s not bad for an 18yo, but it’s not crazy uncommon either…
  2. Or… it’s only Thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving, btw) and the off-season is rarely in any sort of motion yet anyway. Last year was a bizarre outlier because teams were rushing to make moves before the lockout. I do actually wonder if Rangers GM Chris Young started his lockout by reflecting on his flurry of moves and saying “Wait… I paid Corey Seager how much?”
  3. He’s saying the Sox would have grabbed Park with a Rule 5 pick, but instead decided to trade for him. I see what they like about him, but he’sa stretch to be anything more than a utility infielder and the Sox will probably try to sneak him (or Downs) through waivers at some point…
  4. Maybe the Red Sox know more about this guy than we do and just because he had a good ERA in 22 innings of the Dominican Summer League really doesn’t mean he has a future in MLB…
  5. Neither has anyone else. The biggest free agent names off the board so far are Tyler Anderson, Martin Perez and Joc Pederson…
  6. Or… he wouldn’t. Let’s say Seattle ranked those outfielders from worst to best. Then Duran would be ON TOP of their depth chart. That’s right. Numero Uno. It’s all about perspective. But if Seattle did that, suddenly that trade looks just a little better, doesn’t it?
  7. Not only did they trade for him, they publicly said he’s replacing Bogaerts!!! Or maybe they didn’t and he’s a guy that will struggle to hold a utility infielder position…
  8. If they DFA Ort, it’s worth it…
  9. Even Dave Dombrowski signed guys like Ryan LaMare, Brennan Boesch and Anthony Varvaro…
  10. Upgrade? Over Diekman, probably…
  11. 2021, one of only 2 years (and counting) that did not occur PRIOR TO 2021…
  12. But do we know what Devers is asking for, including years?
  13. I really doubt this is the only bullpen move, even if they decide to keep Whitlock in the bullpen full time…
  14. He was traded to upgrade defense. Some theories involve including Seiya Suzuki in that defense…
  15. His CF numbers were too small to draw from, but he really lacked the range…
  16. You do realize in the original post you said prior to 2021. Right? “Siri, what team did Hunter Renfroe play got in /021?” “No, Siri, the other Hunter Renfroe!”
  17. He really struggled with RF at Fenway. But he could cover up quite a few defensive shortcomings with that arm. His lack of versatility didn’t help much either. Cora had to use him in CF a few times (not Renfroe’s fault) and it really wasn’t good…
  18. Not to mention, who cares if anyone said it? Not like Bloom reads web forums for his player valuations…
  19. Sarcasm aside, Milwaukee still unloaded him for the exact reasons I stated. And actually, so did Tampa..
  20. Do I dare text my Cubs” fan daughter, who actually liked Crook?
  21. That’s a fair point, but is Rendon a good comp if Devers cannot stick at third?
  22. In the 4 years prior to signing his deal, Rendon had 30 Defensive Runs Saved. In the past 4 years, Devers has -39 Defensive Runs Saved. If I’m negotiating against Devers’ agent, I would remind him those two players are not as equal as the offensive half of the game indicates…
  23. That his salary was less on 2021 and 2022 plus acquiring him allowed Milwaukee to dump Bradley? Renfroe made sense in 2022 for the Brewers at his salary. He’s no longer as cheap. Other more important players (namely Corban Burnes and Brandon Woodruff) will command raises in arbitration, and Garrett Mitchell has been deemed MLB-ready with Sal Frelick not far behind. Make sense now?
  24. Using 28yo Matt Olson isn’t much better…
  25. Considering he played for Tampa in 2020, I’m going to say yes…
