  1. I certainly hope so…
  2. Even when it makes no sense…
  3. Sorry. Other than to satisfy an impatient fan base, why would the Bogaerts situation need to be settled before the Sox know their needs and budget? That seems exactly the opposite of how it should be done
  4. That kind of turnover isn’t that uncommon in MLB
  5. The Sox aren’t rebuilding…
  6. Oh he absolutely does. I do get some acquisitions are more geared towards long term goals, but some short term improvements are necessary…
  7. Probably not. Polio is still around. Bubonic plague is still around. Eradicating a disease is not easy…
  8. That can be said about plenty of Red Sox teams that didn’t come in last, too…
  9. I think people make way to big a deal of the last place finishes. I’ve seen plenty of non-playoff Sox teams that were less exciting but whose saving grace is they played in a division with one of two even worse teams…
  10. It’s not a complaint so much as a fact that next year’s team looks a lot like last years team so far. But that’s also true for all of MLB…
  11. I fully expect to be…
  12. Absolutely. And ideally do so while keeping Whitlock in the crapshoot mitigation bullpen…
  13. Or the fact that the Phillies rode the worst bullpen of all the postseason teams into the World Series…
  14. It doesn’t eliminate it, but it does mitigate it…
  15. Well, he’s making player evaluations and completely ignoring batting averages and RBI!! Would ol’ Harry Frazee do that? Huh? Would he? You don’t see Harry Frazee ignoring batting average!! You know why? Because!!
  16. Did teams even make those moves back then? It’s easy to think those MiLB free agent moves were sprays there, but if you go back and look at the transactions from teams even in the late 1980s, B-R doesn’t have any MiLB deals…
  17. Downs’ leash just got a lot shorter. Ronaldo Hernandez is probably absent from this list. He’s future role is DH. One has to wonder how much more Dalbec the Sox will put up with, too…
  18. Perez and Pederson accepted QOs. Tyler Anderson signed with the Angels. That’s the list…
  19. They should release Brasier before hard-throwing lefties, soft-throwing righties, and December.
  20. He had been DFAd by the Pirates a couple days ago. The Sox clearly liked him. He plays lots of positions and showed excellent OBP skills in the minors, so I get it. But he’s not an impact player and no one thinks he is, including the FO..
  21. Is BA right in this guy is 5’ 151lbs? Or is that a typo?
  22. They can pitch. End of argument…
  23. Well, the Sox are very likely to sign a slew of players to MiLB contracts starting soon. You could act like each one was the sole focus of the front office and maybe even throw around the phrase “lightning in a bottle” a few times every time the Sox grab a 26yo minor league pitcher. The key to selling it is to de-emphasize the “minor league” aspect of the contract. In fact, never mention it at all and act like it’s a multiyear MLB deal…
  24. I think slow off-seasons are the norm these days. I don’t expect very many major moves until after the New Year…
  25. I don’t think they will give up on Darwinzon s quickly as you think. He’s 24 and still has options left. But Ort can go now…
