  1. And it’s not exactly shocking he got injured. Not to mention, if Dombrowski is trying to pull something off here, this would literally be the dumbest way to do it. Song’s biggest problem is the lack of pitching; burying him on the injured list is not a remedy for that. All of this lamenting for a guy who hasn’t pitched in years is weird. We don’t even know of he’s any good any more. Jay Groome was at least pitching when he got dealt and no one seems to miss him one bit…
  2. If he’s so Great and Objective, why can’t he remember 2020?
  3. Only watching. Not playing. Not attending…
  4. I’ll try. Just getting back from AZ…
  5. They’ve needed to for months…
  6. Well it is one way to help learn a local language. But as an English-speaking American who once moved to a non-English speaking country, a much better way is to watch movies that you’re already familiar with in the new language. Talk radio offers almost nothing in that regard
  7. Usually the guy who spends more money has the shorter leash…
  8. I think you’re inflating your (and our) importance. There are probably 10,000 Red Sox forums on the Internet. The chances that anyone in the Sox organization even knows this website exists are almost nil. Also growing up nowadays with any athletic skill garners so much positive attention from family, friends and hangers-on that anyone who actually makes MLB could easily have an entourage that filters the media…
  9. That’s fine. Good for him in learning a second language. Of course, it still doesn’t mean he listens to local talk radio in English…
  10. The underscored message here is Ort made the parent club…
  11. I’m willing to bet most players don’t even listen to local sports talk radio. Why would they?
  12. The question is though, how hard is the Spanish-speaking media? A significant chunk of players speak little to no English and simply ignore the English language media. And turning up the volume actually doesn’t break the language barrier. As for Yoshida, as I understand he speaks no English, I don’t think media pressure is going to be an issue…
  13. It’s weird how Sox fans think of you play on the Red Sox, you’re inundated with pressure and become a virtual prisoner that can’t go out in public, but if you play for the Braves or Royals or Brewers or Cubs, you can blend in with the fans while in full uniform…
  14. They just signed Franchy Cordero…
  15. Because we all know no other city in the USA has talk radio and sports media. Probably safe to assume Kyoto had it as well, and there the media might have even spoken his first language!!!
  16. I believe comments on MLBTR from multiple people, and they all got it from that notoriously fake account. Ort is still with the Red Sox. It’s a sad day…
  17. And I saw Kaleb Ort DFAd somewhere. Worth noting, even soxprospects didn’t have Mondesi on the 60 Day IL on their transactions page…
  18. I’m not sure he had other options in many cases. I think he made some good moves and some fairly awful ones. The awful ones will probably be the ones that pan out…
  19. But it was all heart!!
  20. Well so far this off-season, no one wants Politi…
  21. If Christian Vazquez is on your “how could we let him slip away” list, it hurts the credibility of the whole thing. I mean, no Brock Holt?
  22. I think moving Dalbec around and making him more versatile is a good idea. The only idea I’d be more excited about would be making him a weak side platoon corner outfielder. He has surprising speed and a cannon for an arm. If Dalbec could learn to judge flyballs (and not from whoever taught Duran) he could have a legit future as a weak side platoon bat. Duran really needs to return to 2b. This whole OF experiment has been a mega flop…
  23. Story could be out for a while. But when healthy, Mondesi is one of the most exciting players in MLB. The problem, as you guessed, is he’s rarely healthy…
  24. Duran and Dalbec are certainly tradable, but as neither is all that much of a player, that’s basically what they would get in return - someone else who isn’t all that much of a player…
  25. With Baltimore, it needed to be the 26. And he was already left off our 40 once; that’s how Baltimore got him. But honestly, I’m not so sure Politi is much of a prospect…
