  1. Reportedly the Sox did try to acquire Rojas. Not sure how far it got…
  2. I was actually surprised they sat out on Correa. I figured Cora would be pushing heavily…
  3. Both Texas and Seattle reportedly offered Story deals similar to the one he got in Boston, but it seems as though Story’s agent(s) tried to leverage one offer against the other and both teams backed off. Texas moved on the second choice Corey Seager. Seattle held on to Crawford…
  4. I’m not buying Ort just yet, but I think I’ve stopped selling on him. Or at least I’ve stopped leaving him outside and hoping some wandering vagrant steals him…
  5. If the Sox were all about signing free agents to make the fans happy (and do so on the cheap), then our shortstop today would be Elvis Andrus at a minimum.
  6. I’m not so sure Story is a guy you sign to placate a fan base. I think they signed him because 1) his offense would be close to Bogaerts’ and 2) his glove would be better. So far he has yet to play a single inning at shortstop…
  7. Paxton is going to minimize bullpen innings?
  8. AAA. Why break up the pen right now?
  9. 19 of those 65 runs were given up by Houck and Crawford - two injury replacements in the rotation. So first of all, was Houck’s first start representative of his last two spring training outings?
  10. I assume we should draw the same conclusion for the Mets?
  11. Hey!! I do the injury jokes. You go back to your word play tie-ins and obscure baseball references!!
  12. They also had Ryan Weber as the #3 starter…
  13. Bello and Whitlock could be at/near the top of this rotation for the next 4 years. That’s not a bad starting point…
  14. No. Why are you counting the spring training games?
  15. But he didn’t do a great job of it. For Lackey - who was going to make minimum wage the following season - he got Joe Kelly and salary dump Allen Craig…
  16. The Pirates have one stolen base in two games…
  17. Too much! Make Pitt throw in Oneil Cruz..
  18. Team needs clutch hits from someone other than Duvall…
  19. Most #1 starters (definition pending) have a shorter shelf life than position players. Start there and the #1 starter might be a #3 by the time you put a team around him…
  20. But you chocked…
  21. And the reason the Sox have produced so few pitchers in that time, whatever it is, it is ABSOLUTELY NOT because 2 draft picks in a 12 year stretch didn’t work out….
  22. Missing on two #1 draft picks in the last 12 years didn’t make the Sox farm thin. Houston chose Mark Appel and Brady Aiken in consecutive years as the NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK in the entire draft and both completely busted almost immediately. Yet somehow they keep churning out quality pitching…
  23. I think you do still have to count Whitlock. He and Bello could be big parts of this rotation for the next 4 years…
  24. You think he still gets invited if they’re 30th? One thing to bear in mind is the Sox have 5 pitchers out right now, and it’s impacting the rotation and the pen. There may never be a day when the entire staff is healthy, but they still could step up if the returning arms do what they’ve shown they’re capable of…
  25. His rotation choices in 2022 finished 18th in fWAR and 19th in FIP. Not sure that’s all that fine…
