  1. Who are the nominees for the position player who pitches the ninth? I’m thinking McGuire…
  2. Am I the only one who watches Barraclough and thinks “when does Kaleb Ort come off the Injured List?”
  3. I’ll do you one better - why promote him to Boston at all?
  4. It’s Grant Gambrell time! Any chance the Padres DFA Hader and he passes through waivers to Boston?
  5. Hopefully they just leave him in there, take the loss, DFA him tomorrow, and have a full rested bullpen for the next 2 games. I mean, why take him out now?
  6. I’m hoping they clear this logjam by moving an outfielder for a pitcher. If so, I could see Duvall sticking around as a right-handed option in the OF…
  7. So glad we got Barraclaugh instead of a real relief pitcher…
  8. Urias with bases loaded this year 2AB, 8 RBI, 5.000 OPS
  9. One odd thing about this series I noticed rather late in it, and maybe this is more common than I realize. Dodger manager Dave Roberts played for both the Dodgers and the Red Sox. Red Sox manager Alex Cora played for both the Dodgers and the Red Sox. Does this kind of thing happen more often than I realize? Granted, Cora didn’t play for too many teams, but he does have some others on his resume…
  10. Eventually he’ll just get relegated to AAAA player…
  11. Bello had some home run issues, too…
  12. The old “team says we made an offer; player says they never got an offer.” Fans always believe the player, but no one blames the post office…
  13. You’re only saying that to push your book “If Mookie Did It”…
  14. Lugo and Coffey are already playing 3b…
  15. And he’s using Fenway Entertainment Group (or whatever) money for everything. Does he have a financial interest? Of course. But if the Sox sign a player to a big contract, does it affect him personally? Of course not…
  16. More likely OF depth, since every team has that “excess of shortstops” in the minors that the Sox really don’t have…
  17. He and Martin were never teammates, so probably not much there. Did you mean Jansen?
  18. Henry doesn’t pay for these guys with his own money. No owner does…
  19. How about “not” Opening the wallet and maybe trading for players under 30 wittily worn down ligaments that can actually stay in the field all week? No point in keeping all these prospects if you’re going to try it up all the position player roles for 8-10 years worth billions of dollars worth of contracts…
  20. They’ll go all in on a Ohtani just to watch him get hurt, too…
  21. Still it’s a poor job by Bloom that it’s still August and we still have Murphy and Llovera in this bullpen…
  22. It may be. But no way it is. It’s more likely just the first time he actually gave an answer…
  23. With stat checking, the Sox are tied for 14th in MLB for HBP with 56. Seattle leads the way with 91…
  24. You get them to demand a trade? I think ideally one game should be the max a player did for slumping…
  25. The Sox defense is really bad. I heard Pedro Martinez on the radio saying he felt it cost the team 10-15 wins. That feels excessive, but I’m not going to put a number in it. As for Verdugo, I do think he is likely to get moved, but if it happens, it’s more related to contract than defense. Personally I think moving Duran makes more sense for a couple reasons…
