  1. No team stays on their “current path” forever and every team sucks eventually. The A’s, like the Rays, flip back and forth between successful and unsuccessful seasons. They’re usually either in the cellar or in the postseason…
  2. Seriously? You do realize they won that game?
  3. I think you’re forgetting that the league is watered down…
  4. It only takes one cocky pitching coach that thinks he can save him. Still, the Sox would be lucky to get a low A ball batboy in return…
  5. He makes a decent point about Diekman
  6. Should be twice as good. We have twice as many Hamiltons…
  7. Sergio Romo had 5 opener starts during a season in which he had 25 saves…
  8. I don’t get why Cora didn’t go to Pivetta. I assumed Pivetta would start the next day. Clearly not the reason…
  9. The point was about Oakland not spending and perennially sucking. They clearly have solid stretches. Their big problem now is they unloaded Chapman, Olson, Murphy, etc. a couple years ago and focused on quantity over quality. All they have to show for that haul is Shea Langeliers and Esteury Ruiz..
  10. Which team has made the postseason more times since 2012 - Oakland or Boston?
  11. 100 degrees on the cool nights!
  12. It’s like Cora misses the entire point of that strategy…
  13. You do realize the Astros are only 2 1/2 games better than the Red Sox. A difference roughly equal to one series against Oakland…
  14. Leave Winckowski in the bullpen. He’s needed there…
  15. Any team can get derailed by a rash of SP injuries…
  16. He was better than I thought he’d be…
  17. We’re still in the time of year when all that’s available are DFAs. Bear in mind the Dodgers thought enough of Scott to add him to their 40 man roster at one point. Scott, like Garza, is unlikely to finish the season with Boston…
  18. He should never bat, either, but you’ve working his way into the lineup at 3 positions…
  19. And 2b, SS and RF. Why are we limiting him?
  20. Maybe his best chance…
  21. But he’s fine for purposes of moonslav’s lineup…
  22. Agreed. I wondered why not use Pivetta over Ort. Or, frankly, a randomly chosen fan from the bleachers over Ort. But I assume Pivetta (and possibly the fan) are pitching today…
  23. Well, we know it isn’t Ort. TBD = Pivetta?
  24. Refsnyder has played 418 career games at 2b, including 43 in MLB. He originally came up as a 2b with the Yankees…
  25. Dalbec’s OPS through the years: 2020: .959 2021: .792 2022: .652 2023: .490 Casas got off to a slow start but has a .779 OPS since April 16. Dalbec hasn’t seen that number for 2 seasons and is on an obvious downward trend. His 2023 OPS is almost one half of his career high, which was during a pandemic-shortened season. Dalbec has no future in Boston…
