    So is that simply not tolerating a learning curve? I’ve seen numerous posts about how Casas’ offense is clearly suspect. Casas has a higher OPS after 130 PA than Wander Franco did. Or Mike Trout did. Or… I could go on. I’m not saying he’ll be as good as them, but most rookies require patience. Now the ask is about Hamilton. How many errors before he gets given up on? Or how well does he have to hin first 100 PA before he’s just another failed prospect? Not to mention - Dalbec played SS for ONE GAME. Not so sure he was anointed full time starter just yet…

    Hamilton never should have been added. Dalbec has limited expect SS but actually hasn’t been all that bad. Yes, he made an error. Know what other shortstops will make errors this year? All of them! I don’t Tomase’s complaint that Dalbec, at 6’4” 280, can’t play SS due to his size. Did he ever hear of Cal Ripken? (Cue Old Red replying “Dalbec is no Ripken and thus missing the point.). I don’t know if Dalbec is a good solution at SS or not, but if he isn’t, the culprit is likely not his frame. It seems as though many have already thrown in the towel on 2023. If so, what’s the issue with Dalbec at SS?

    My biggest Bloom gripes (that mvp omitted, although I clearly don’t agree with his whole list) 1. Turning down Graterol 2. Keeping Ort over Ward and German

    I will admit I wasn’t big on Springs when he was here. He only pitched 20 IP, but his 7.08 ERA left a lot to be desired. His 4.81 FIP certainly showed him to be unlucky, but it wasn’t exactly dazzling either. When that deal was made, most of the buzz was about giving up Mazza. Perez? He was a middling pitcher for 8 years, came to Boston, pitched as a middling pitcher for 2 more. And has had one good year since. I don’t mind giving up on him. Heck I thought they gave him one year too many as it was…

    Pretty sure I was saying months ago that being Tampa North wasn’t necessarily a bad thing…

    Even this year, what’s he had so far? A veteran Sale who has thrown 48 IP in the past 3 years. Kluber, another aging vet coming off arm issues. Houck, who has two pitches. Whitlock? One start after an injury. Not to mention the Orioles and Rays— who make up 50% of the Sox opponents - are apparently two VERY GOOD HITTING teams. I mean, if McGuire was catching for Glavine-Maddux-Smoltz, think he’d turn them mediocre? (Bear in mind old friend Javy Lopez couldn’t.)

    No, but the 2022 number might be influenced by several starts from Connor Seabold, Josh Winckowski, Kutter Crawford and pre-epiphany Brayan Bello. (He also caught some of Bello’s good outings.)

    I don’t care as about the logic behind it. The Sox needed an opening day starter but in the end all of the rotation spots will get 32-33 starts. The order matters very little, especially since the 5 pitchers in the opening day rotation are all unlikely to never miss a start…

    The Sale thing couldn’t be more overblown. Besides cashing the largest paycheck on the team, what exactly has Sale done in the past 3 years that has earned a stranglehold on the role of Opening Day Starter? I think you might be spending a bit too much effort about a minor change in the role of a starting pitcher who has as many wins since 2018 as Michael Wacha had last year…

    The Phillies started out 22-29 last year, fired their manager, and then squeaked into the postseason and rode their momentum to an NL pennant. If the Sox are close to that record after 50-ish games, I expect Cora gets fired …
