Yes he was. But not related to performance. The waived him in order to get his salary off the books once they realized they were not heading into the postseason and it was too late to trade his salary away, and he was ineligible for a QO.
That might be the type of move we see several teams make going forward…

Turnbull is an unknown at worst given his recent injury history. But he was absolutely a good pitcher prior. Do the Dox have 5 better reliable starters?
I don’t think Dalbec’s abilty to backup 1b (which he does poorly) matters much since he’s not much more likely to make the 26 man roster than you are. He’s easily replaceable in that regard, preferably with someone more versatile…
But a $25mill AAV isn’t chump change!
