  1. The Sox are going with youth and zero depth. Move all the young middle relievers to the rotation, then don’t go get any middle relievers to replace them! Not a plan I like…
  2. They can add 3 players once they actually start moving bodies to the 60 day IL. I get why Giolito isn’t added yet, and not sure if Mata is actually going to the 60 day IL. But no idea why they haven’t added Hendricks to it yet. I have strongly suggested DFAing Dalbec multiple times, but I think what keeps him around is that he has an option year left. Also if the goal is to have a RHH that excels vs LHP, Dalbec (.855 OPS vs LHP) has shown himself to be a better option than Cron (.814 OPS vs LHP career, .747 VS LHP last season)…
  3. It’s good to see them not wait until year 5 to extend a player…
  4. Depends when it starts…
  5. I’m sure if he did well, we will be hearing about Sale all year and how he shouldn’t have been traded, just like we did with Eovaldi last year…
  6. While no names were released, there’s a very good chance Grissom is better than anyone else that was offered for Sale…
  7. They will have at least two open spots on the 40 man roster once they start adding Mata, Giolito, and Hendricks to the 60 day IL. I assume Cron gets one of them…
  8. It’s nice to see the Sox for once not waiting until a player has 4-5 years before they try to extend him…
  9. I thought about that. It doesn't apply to Montgomery in multiple ways...
  10. I can find numerous article about Clevinger expressing interest in Boston. Nothing about if they talked or not. Either way, he seems like a scumbag...
  11. It seems odd that a mere 6 months ago, many were lambasting Bloom for not dealing Sale and his whole contract for nothing, but now that Sale has been dealt for a quality young player with multiple years of control, he’s missed…
  12. If they offer him what he wants, why not? Most athletes seem to prioritize as follows: 1. Money 2. Playing time 3. Winning It’s rare to see a player in any sport turn down more money to start on a losing team to take less money to sit on the bench of a contender…
  13. More likely less than 1.5. But at some point the Sox can add Giolito, Hendricks, and Mata (?) to the 60 day IL, which would open up 3 spots on the 40 man roster. (Not sure why Hendricks hasn’t been added already.) I assume CJ Cron gets one of these spots. But that does leave two open. The Sox are going to fill them…
  14. It is amazing how suddenly Sale’s injury-prone image is what’s been flushed down the toilet. For multiple seasons here, it was “you can’t count on Sale”. But now, as he has managed to throw all of 4.2 innings without getting hurt, he’s clearly back and in pre-injury form…
  15. MLBTR, which means other source(s) have…
  16. The latest diagnosis is he likely has Tommy John surgery. If that does happen, he’s probably out until July, 2025. This would be his second procedure if he has one…
  17. Probably not. And that’s odd because they’ve been to connected to Clevinger…
  18. We know. And that makes him guilty to you. I’ll admit he seems like an *******. But I bet he has that in common with more players in MLB than we all realize…
  19. Now if we don’t ask…
  20. Oh please. Sure character is important but what do we mean by that? Does that mean any temper tantrum or sign of emotion such as throwing the ball over the CF fence means the player should be blackballed? As far as we know, he was blackmailed. There’s been no proof of him doing anything wrong in the scandal that got him suspended. Plenty of other players suchas 2024 free agents Mike Clevinger, Julio Urias and Aroldis Chapman have bigger scandals. The difference? Those players confessed, probably because they were guilty, and we as fans and MLB forgave them and moved on. Bauer didn’t confess, and we assumed him guilty, and there goes his reputation. But what if he actually didn’t do anything wrong? Should the Sox avoid all accused players on the chance they’re guilty? Is this how “character” works?
  21. So this is the rarest of occasions where the Sox need to use my plan and it just might work.
  22. You still want him to have a contract he’s happy with. The Sox were the only team in on JD Martinez in 2018, but he still managed a 9-figure deal…
  23. Sign Montgomery and Bauer, which basically equals wjust Montgomery money. The solution is easy, and the Sox can scream “panic move” when the media stars dredging up Bauer stories. For less money, they could sign two from Clevinger, German and Lauer. But Clevinger is worse than Bauer and German is not exactly up for sainthood either…
  24. He probably did exactly what you said - tried to pitch through some pain. Didn’t it strike you as odd that Sale, who was known for being underpaid his whole career, agreed to another extension in which he was clearly going to be underpaid? And did so just 8 months before free agency? If he didn’t know he was hurt then, he clearly strongly suspected his 2019 was not going to help his case for a big money deal…
  25. So… on board with a perfectly healthy (as far as I know) and willing to play for the league minimum Trevor Bauer yet?
