  1. BTV hated this deal, valuing Schreiber at $9.7mill surplus value but Sandlin only being worth $2mill. Hopefully Sandlin can prove BTV wrong…
  2. You left out being muscular. That’s also on your list…
  3. Agreed on both counts…
  4. Also, what exactly did Bauer do to get on the Sinners List? It’s actually very possible he was simply the victim extortion…
  5. Tommy Pham is on the list now? He slapped Joc Pederson!! That’s commendable! Honestly, who doesn’t want to slap Joc Pederson? The Moral High Ground here apparently has a threshold of Sainthood as the cover charge and it doesn’t get counted towards the minimum. Heck, Tyler O’Neill has no skeletons in his closet, but that doesn’t stop people from fabricating some…
  6. Not like women and babies are such big fans of Joe Jacques…
  7. He wasn’t punished for his activities, and therefore was never proven to be at fault. (He was never charged with any crimes, so he couldn’t have been found guilty.) But the reality remains - he is aPR nightmare. I mean, OJ was acquitted, too. Has it helped his public image? All that said, I wonder why the Sox are actually concerned with their image right now. They’ve turned off so many fans, Bauer could win a second Cy Young and half of New England might not notice…
  8. Bauer and Clevinger!! Total cost is $10-12 mill AAV. Granted they’ll be hated by women and babies…
  9. If they’re image-conscious, why are they eagerly pursuing some sort of Ebenezer Scrooge persona this off-season?
  10. Depends who you ask. Fangraphs dropped him down to #69. I’m still not worried. Struggling in 100+ PA in AA Ball at age 20 while injured? That’s not a recipe for failure…
  11. So… sell low on him?
  12. I don’t think Bauer was ever really all that adjusted to the culture here. That’s why he got into trouble in the first place…
  13. They have to say that. Assuming they’re keeping up the front of running a baseball team. But if they’re invested in this documentary, they obviously have some priority somewhere on some list to make it as entertaining as possible so as to get a sequel next year…
  14. Strong disagree. The whole idea of not trying to compete is already a MASSIVE public relations nightmare on its own. Why not make it even better next year by 1) trying to compete while 2) jettisoning Bauer at the same time? Now THAT could get some positive press!! It’s all about the opportunity…
  15. Kim is probably the best defender of the five shortstops starting for the Padres. This does make sense. But it makes me wonder how Xander feels. Also part of me wonders if putting Kim in the tougher position is for that Opening Day audience in Seoul…
  16. Good question. Also would signing Snell or Montgomery make it more difficult to extend Burnes?
  17. So the Blue Jays and Angels have joined the Red Sox in saying - not adding significant money without dealing some away. The new addresses for Snell, Monthomery, Bellinger and Chapman are getting more limited daily…
  18. Maybe ChatGPT has some Japanese pitcher data?
  19. That all depends on how well you read Japanese…
  20. I wasn’t counting anyone who offered a Bauer an opportunity to go f*** himself as making a legitimate offer…
  21. Worth pointing out that didn’t mean anyone has made an offer…
  22. On Teel, who checks on at number 80 on the Fangraphs Top 100 ”…Teel’s defensive movements are also rather mechanically maniacal, with a ton of extraneous movement as the pitcher completes his windup. Unlike the ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it approach to his offensive mechanics, his defense may need to be simplified as he’s tasked with receiving more advanced arsenals as he progresses. Teel’s arm is strong, but as with the rest of his movements, it’s an atypical look for a catcher, as he slings the ball from a sidearm slot that at times looks more like an off-balance cross-diamond throw from a shortstop. Odd duck as he may be across the board, Teel nevertheless presents a well-rounded overall profile and seems likely to stick at catcher.” Source: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2024-top-100-prospects/
  23. Not that I know of. Maybe I should start Japangraphs…
  24. Ok then make it $2 million extra!!!
  25. The bigger deal with Bauer is that he hasn’t pitched in MLB since 2021. Yes, he’sa PR nightmare that teams have been avoiding. But we also don’t know how he pitches any more as well. Maybe MLB. teams actually aren’t avoiding the controversy; maybe he just isn’t as good any more…
