  1. What fan has ever celebrated staying under the luxury tax?
  2. This should start an endless series of internet jokes, all of them with the same punchline. “Ball two.”
  3. Replacing O’Halloran?
  4. Possibly. But even at $2mill, he's making just a bit more than Reese McGuire money...
  5. Sox should have been in on him.
  6. Keller has been worth 7.5 fWAR through 523 IP, which is a total for maybe 3 seasons, making him worth roughly 2.5 fWAR per year. Bello has been worth 2.9 fWAR for his first 214 IP, probably 1 pace for 1.5 seasons, pacing him at about 1.5 fWAR per season to date. Bello has not been as good as Keller to date, but I think he can outperform him over the next few seasons, assuming no injuries. But the risk of injuries are also why the Sox can get away with a lower salary with Bello; he is in a much riskier position.
  7. Kennedy made it sound less sarcastic…
  8. Not sure 43 is a deal breaker for portraying Sam Kennedy. And if you say she no longer acts and isn’t doing her job, that only makes her a better fit for the role…
  9. Schreiber turns 30 in March…
  10. Only if the part of Sam Kennedy is played by Jessica Alba…
  11. MVP asked them in post 1377
  12. Apologies. I missed your conference due to my page set up.
  13. I assure you the members of the front office are al working together towards a united goal. Our primary gooal is to make the team better and be more competitive in 2024. We have no plans to reduce the budget. We are weighing the current options agaist our needs now and in the future. No. The candidate we arrived at was our top choice all along. Absolutely not. We feel as though we are well on our way towards achieving this goal now that we have the right person in charge. We are allocating our resources as we feel appropriate to establishing ourselves as being perennial contenders. Again I assure you this team is working together as the best assembly of front office talent we have. Any comments directed at the poor performance of any individual have likely been taken out of context. And there is your John Henry press conference for the year. Did you expect anything different?
  14. But Sam made it sound like he was making suggestions. As if the FO hadn’t thought of any (all) of them already…
  15. Sadly, predictive text…
  16. Why? Is he stupid? Or did Pedroia tell it first and Sam simply followed up? It seems really weird that Kennedy would take this to the press…
  17. No. He’s a dirt cheap platoon bat. He could and possibly will be replaced if a cheaper, better option presents itself. Of course, that does depend on the Sox finding a talker for his contract.
  18. Reyes has over 1,000 innings at 3b in his career, counting MLB, MiLB, and foreign leagues. Granted, that’s only like 111 games, but it’s not inconsequential…
  19. The word you’re looking for is “hearing”. Not exactly the same as listening…
  20. He plays baseball for like $1.5mill. That’s a valuable skill on this team…
  21. Unless they sign Gio Urshela…
  22. How this story got leaked does amaze me. Unless Pedroia was the original leak. But even then, the quotes from Kennedy fell along the lines of “Pedroia told us who the free agents were,” which is really odd considering I don’t think anyone truly believed that the Sox were unaware…
  23. One thing we have learned this off-season, Old Red was dead wrong; Henry doesn’t have ears everywhere…
  24. It looks like, unless they actually add that other RHH outfielder that has been dominating the top of the Priority List for two months now, that only one of Rafaela or Abreu starts the season in Boston. Barring injuries, of course…
  25. Yoshida (14%) and Devers (19%) were also a big part of it…
