  1. I always like the cheese wurst at Comiskey/US Cellular/Guaranteed Rate Field. As semi-edible space age polymers go, it’s among the top ten…
  2. They’re bringing back Heinz ketchup!??????? It all makes sense now!! I’m on board!! Hopefully the next step is to trade Jansen and get rid of that off-brand Dijon…
  3. The others can go back and forth between the majors and minors
  4. Apparently he’s seeing Dr. Neal ElAttrache. When you don’t see Andrews, ElAttrache is Tommy John Jr…
  5. Hey maybe they need to cast a villain. Think Henry wants to play that part?
  6. Yes I said Cron was the least versatile. But if he makes the team, they can demote the other three. Of course with Refsnyder out, two of the others might make the team. González also offers a ton of versatility…
  7. Joely stands a good chance. No really sure about Cron. Best hitter of the candidates, but lest versatile defensively. Assuming Refsnyder and Grissom start the year on the IL, and Valdez (2b starter?), McGuire and Reyes are locks, that leaves Cron, Dalbec, Gonzalez, and Hamilton for the last two spots. Cron is the only one with no options remaining. That might give him the inside track...
  8. Turn off the sound and listen to Castiglione?
  9. I'm sure he does. But I am not so sure he and the other two I mentioned also the 26 man roster to start the season, barring couple more injuries. Especially if Cron (also in that opening day lineup) does make the team.
  10. But necessity is a reality. If the Sox do get that far into the season using only 6 or 7 starters, they could be in for a surprisingly good season. But it's not very likely. So when 2 or 3 starters face some inevitable short IL stints, do you think the Sox bring up Gonzalez and/or Perales?
  11. It might have to be. I'm not so sure the Sox can keep Gonzalez, Hamilton, and Dalbec all on the 26 man roster to start the season without a couple more injuries...
  12. I'd say a very good chance, given their limited SP depth. I don't see them making it to July 31st with only 6 or 7 different pitchers drawing starting assignments...
  13. On opening day? Even Cora isn't so liberal with rest days!
  14. I came close with one I posted, but I added in Colas and Dillon Head into the deal. (It helped that Thorpe, Iriarte and Wilson were already announced.)
  15. That's fair. My issues with King are that he only has 2 years left (for now), and he has never started more than 9 games in a season and never pitched more than 104 innings. It is an interesting trade in that it sends both players back home, with RI native and BC aum King coming to Boston and SoCal native and Long Beach State alum Duran returning to southern California. (Although admittedly, Los Angeles or Anaheim would be better fits for a true homecoming for Duran.)
  16. But why would the Sox bench Devers and Duran on opening day? They're likely facing RHP Luis Castillo.
  17. I have some pause, given the years of control difference and King’s very limited track record as a starter. But that was the clear best one-for-one trade for Duran using the system at BTV…
  18. That looks like names were drawn out of a hat…
  19. Yeah I posted the Duran/King trade here and on BTV. One Padres’ fan commented to being very much in favor…
  20. Almost spot on. 44.5 to 42.4
  21. All I did was say what the actual tense was and you then flew off the handle, calling me humorless because I didn’t appreciate this upper class joke clearly aimed at English Department chairpersons circles you hang out in. I didn’t try to pick any fight. That was and still is ( Oh and I kept asking why you were responding to me when your joke was actually challenged by someone else who even proposed a wager that you have been avoiding. I also haven’t resorted to your level of childish insults. I will admit it’s odd for me to be the mature one. But here we are. I will admit that this repeated admission that this joke has never gotten anything but laughs is tough to believe. Outside of jad questioning it and my one little response that you couldn’t handle, it appears to have fallen flat here..
  22. Part of me understands it but part of me struggles to believe Duran is worth that much in a trade. Granted, Snelling is 20 and Head even younger and neither has much experience above A ball. (Snelling has pitched 17 IP in AA; Head has never been). So it’s not like these players are sure things…
  23. Also, as the Brewers are not a heavy-spending organization, they likely try to fill Williams’ temporary absence internally. I would expect former Red Sox RP Joel Payamps (2.55 ERA / 1.047 WHIP / 1.6 bWAR in 70IP in 2033) to be one such internal candidate. Adjust your fantasy drafts accordingly…
  24. I don’t get this acquisition from the Padres’ viewpoint. The unloaded one year of Soto to get 2 years of Michael King and 2 years of Cease? And did so at a time when they have no outfielders?
  25. For RHP Drew Thorpe (recently acquired in the Juan Soto trade), RHP Jairo Iriate and possibly more. Odd off-season the Padres. Unloading Soto and then acquiring Cease, only controlled one year longer than Soto, with the return. I guess it was all about nothing more than saving money with SD. They’re clearly not rebuilding. Hopefully they can get the White Sox to include an actual outfielder. Maybe Oscar Colas?
