  1. And so it goes… https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/03/red-sox-chris-murphy-ligament-damage-elbow-surgery.html We knew this was possible. The SP depth was pretty thin even before Murphy…
  2. Let me guess - German Shepherd…
  3. Dogs also never lie. Unless there’s a sunny patch on a sofa…
  4. Hendricks signing may have simply been a pre-emotive strike to replace Jansen and/or Martin. It’s possible Jansen (36) and Martin (37) might not be re-signed, especially if they want multiple years. They should have made a similar move Woodruff…
  5. If Montgomery gets only 4 years, he should fire Boras…
  6. And they already blew the draft pick on Chapman. Better of stockpiling those missing picks in one year than losing multiple first rounders…
  7. He was drafted in June of last year, has already played in AA, and probably debuts this year. He is clearly being fast tracked. Are the complaints now that it still isn’t fast enough? Since he hasn’t even played professional ball for a full year yet, maybe they’re still trying to determine if he is ready. If he debuts in June/July, he isn’t being held back for an extra year; it’s because he’s only played for one year. Nick Yorke looked like a sure thing within a year of getting drafted. Did you want him starting at 2b in 2022?
  8. Are those the ones that made the angels weep?
  9. Does he get into why nothing in nature is blue?
  10. Wong has an option left. Perez might have a chance to make the Sox…
  11. With Teel reaching AA last year, I get not investing in catching right now. Teel could be behind home plate in Fenway by July…
  12. That’s the devil at work!!
  13. Now do we need to do a position by position comp?
  14. On opening day, Story was not on the roster. Gone from last year’s opening day roster: Duvall, Verdugo, Turner, Arroyo, Hernandez, Chang, Tapia, Kluber, Sale, Schreiber, Bleier, Ort Not sure who the newcomers are, but it looks like this off-season the Sox added to the opening day roster: Campbell, Slaten, Weissert, Cron and Romy Gonzalez (Source: Roster Resource) That’s it for the off-season. Although a lot of players have been added from the minors or are hopefully not on the IL. And Grissom will debut this season at some point in the near future…
  15. This is Trevor’s first spring training with Boston. Maybe for once he can hit the ground running…
  16. I’m going to call replacing Kike with Story an upgrade…
  17. I’m liking the optimism, even if some of it is sarcastic optimism. Sarcastimism, if you will…
  18. Winckowski should never throw 3 IP. Not with how often Cora likes to use him…
  19. It’s was a little easier for the 2023 Sox due to the balanced schedule. But that they did it twice while playing 76 games against the AL East is flat out crazy…
  20. The Yankees are far from locks, and while Severino-German-Brito did combine for 50 starts and 289 IP, these were not mainstays in that rotation. They will need Fluke Health from Rodon and Cortes and a solid return from Cole. But if the Judge-Soto-Stanton lineup doesn’t position that 82 win team as one of the most likely to displace a playoff team, then who positioned themselves better? Maybe Seattle, who, like Boston, will rely on a lot of younger pitchers in their first full season? Surprise spender KC? They’ll be improved, but is Wacha and Lugo enough?
  21. As many questions as the Sox have in their rotation, I think you will find the rest of the AL has numerous teams in the same boat. If we look at last years 6 post-season participants (Baltimore, Tampa, Minnesota, Houston, Texas, and Toronto) how many are worse than the team that ended the season? And what teams in the AL did enough to supplant any of them? (Maybe NY?)
  22. How about Eovaldi-Gray-Heaney-Dunning-Cody Bradford? That’s what Roster Resource has the Rangers defending with…
  23. And the guys under 24. It’s not worth holding a guy back a year to make sure you control that age 31 season…
  24. Better starting rotation? Bello-Pivetta-Crawford-Houck-Whitlock or Eovaldi-Gray-Dunning-Heaney-Pérez?
  25. I’m surprised how many think the Sox will come in last with 78 wins or more. That the Sox have accomplished this in the last two years didn’t underscore how rare it is. In MLB history, there have been as many 110 win teams as there have been last place teams with 78 wins…
