  1. Again. Second best reliever one season ago. This year, only two innings pitched. Relax. He well get significantly better. He well NEVER be perfect. And I think for Some that might be the minimum expectation. ...
  2. Can you name one veteran backup catcher who was ever traded for a young AA power-hitting prospect? Guys like Leon typically via waiver claim. ..
  3. It's not "nonsense". It's just very unlikely. It is a true statement that the ONLY CHANCE he leaves Boston is of he wants to leave the city. The point here is that he certainly won't be doing it to get more money, since we all agree that is not going to happen period. The "whine and trade" scenario is provaly more likely to happen but less likely to work. Since no one will take that contract, and hopefully Dombrowski isn't stupid enough to pay him to pitch elsewhere. (And getting a good return is also not likely in this case. ) So does this lead to phantom DL stints like Sandoval got?
  4. What was so shaky about Smith yesterday? He faced 3 hitters. One hit, one k. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not shaky. ..
  5. So KC is going to swing a desperation trade for a catcher in order to compete, but in the process trade away their best starter?
  6. I expect Price to be here for 7 years. But part of me does really hope he bails after his year.
  7. It is amazing that it only took one inning this year to completely give up on the pitcher with the second lowest WHIP from the Sox bullpen last season...
  8. Dombrowski made a deal to get himself a new data plan. Enjoy your games sitting a top the Monster at Sprint Park...
  9. Solid point, although I think Barnes is more experienced than Smith...
  10. Didn't Grigorius bat cleanup against Cleveland in the ALDS last year? Was it a mistake when he homered twice of the Cy Young winner in game seven of thst series?
  11. Wow. Only 3 games in and only one inning where Sox pitching has allowed more than 1 run, and already NINE PAGES worth of posts second-guessing Cora. Somewhere, John Farrell is laughing....
  12. Sort of the point. Price isn't getting the same money anywhere else. So the only chance of him opting out is if he values leaving Boston more than money. Certainly he can try to get out other ways, like demanding a trade (which actually is very unlikely to work). But the only way he opts out at this point is poor of desperation. I don't expect it to happen. ..
  13. If Price opts out, it will be because he desperately wants out of Boston. He isn't getting a better deal at his age with question marks surrounding his elbow. None of us had any idea if he desperately wants out of Boston. ....
  14. I think it is very important that the entire bullpen be evaluated by one inning.
  15. That's why God invented the DVR...
  16. Really? I'm not exactly dazzled by Benintendi in left field, let alone center. I know he played center in college, but that was then. Plenty of guys don't play their college position in the majors, which was why Tim Wakefield nevet played first and Jon Olerud never pitched. .
  17. Is that mostly because their Florida fans never see them in the March, since the Cubs typically play all their ST games in Arizona?
  18. My daughter actually has a pink Cubs hat...
  19. Never worry about a slow spring training for a player under contract. After all, what do these games mean to JBJ? It's not like he is in danger of losing his starting job And especially NEVER worry about a slow spring training for a streaky hitter. ...
  20. You know, there is more to pitching than velocity. 100mph fastballs do nothing if their not strikes...
  21. Here's what bothers me. If Wright had been accused of using PED with no more evidence than rumors on an online article, people would be condemning him, supporting his suspension, accepting his release or DFA. And that behavior (PED usage) doesn't hurt anyone except Wright himself (maybe). why are we harsher on PED usage than domestic violence? This is not directed at any individual, but on us all as baseball fans as a whole. With DV, we want proof and knowledge of the incident. With PEDs, we're more than ok with rumors leading to suspensions and bans...
  22. True. Wright's suspension is proportionally smaller than the controversial original two games received by Ray Rice. (Granted, Rice left far, far more proof behind him.)
  23. Maybe he never laid a hand on her, but maybe not. But MLB can't ignore any accusation on a subject this serious.
  24. That "story" barely says anything. Between the two of us, we covered all his points in 3 posts. Maybe two...
  25. There was that story last year. I hadn't seen out this year. And I find it hard to believe. That means, for example, Jeremy Hellickson, who was available 10 days ago, looked at a potential Sox rotation already featuring Brian Johnson and Hector Velasquez, and somehow thought no way he could beat out those guys and he had a better shot in Washington. I admit I never spoke to Hellickson about this, but somehow I think the former ROY isn't so humble about his abilities. I get not signing Dickey. The guy is 43. He's won a Cy Young. He's made millions. I wouldn't be do surprised if he overly started he would not take a minor league deal. But his like Hellickson and numerous others have been put there for months. ..
