  1. I hate the way he wears his hat!! Also his pitching sucks...
  2. Castillo makes about $12mill annually. If JBJ starts making $9-10mill next year, Castillo is barely an increase. The Sox could trade JBJ and replace him for maybe $2-3mill more. It might be cheaper than using free agency to fill holes...
  3. Castillo has shown himself to be a capable defender in limited action. At some point, he won’t be too much more expensive than Bradley, if at all...
  4. The Astros might take their foot of the proverbial gas pedal due to their comfortable lead...
  5. I don’t think any fan base contains as many whiny conspiracy theorists as the Yankee fan base...
  6. If JBJ winds up making more than Castillo, should the Sox trade JBJ?
  7. Wait. Is Billy Williams the Babe from BDC?
  8. The Giants 37 instances of cheating on yourteamcheats.com still outnumbers the 26 instances listed for the Patriots...
  9. Why would the Sox trade Bradley for a good glove no bat outfielder? Or, if the goal was to get a hitter, why would another team trade a good bat good glove outfielder for Bradley?
  10. The only way the teams meet in the ALCS is if one team is the Wild Card and the other is the #2 or #3 seed...
  11. Actually according to yourteamcheats.com, the New York Jets cheat more often than any other NFL team. This is largely ignored because, despite all the cheating, the Jets still suck...
  12. When fans say the Sox overpaid for Kimbrel, they mean the Sox gave up too many prospects...,
  13. Or to vilify Lucchino. But it was always less supported and more about what some people wanted to believe. He was probably instrumental in a bad move here and there. But he was not likely as bad as the universal scapegoat he is portrayed to be...
  14. That seems to be a good summary of what people think. But the guy worked in sports for decades. While he might not have been among the most knowledgeable sports executives, he was very likely much brighter on the subject than many give him credit for being...
  15. I think a big factor was always that Lucchino spoke about himself as more of a businessman than a sorts guy and fans leapt to the conclusion everything with him was financial and it did make him look unlikeable. But the guy worked for sports franchises for his entire career and probably enjoyed the winning teams as much as we did. And he certainly knew more about sports than any of us...
  16. A big part is that fans overvalue closers. Kimbrel has been great, but at the time the Sox has bigger issues in the rotation and spending valuable trade chips on a closer (and picking up the entire contract to boot) was not necessarily the best use of his resources...
  17. And then became of soft-tossing lefty for the last 18 years of his career. I’m not saying Kent is a future all star. He’s a minor leaguer doing a better job than many realize solely because he doesn’t fit the mold of what many fans and scouts want from young players. For pitchers, that means radar gun readings. Well there are no strong set of minimum standards to make the majors. The odds were always stacked against Kent anyway, but maybe he can still get there.
  18. That’s what I was telling Jamie Moyer just the other day...
  19. Players make recommendations all the time. The GM still has to acquire the player. Pedro probably recommended several players to the Sox brass. Perhaps he was also pushing for Ramiro Mendoza. Do we all get to remove that black mark from the GM?
  20. I don’t know if he was but I think there is a very strong tendency on this board to blame bad moves solely on Lucchino...
  21. Margot’s season is about the same as JBJ’s.
  22. Ockimey is universally accepted as a top ten prospect in the Sox system. Kent does get no chatter. This is true...
  23. Not to mention a player’s batting average can get worse if a slower runner gets thrown out at home on a sac fly attempt. If the speed of another runner makes you look like a better or worse hitter, that is a flaw..
  24. Ironically the thread makes more sense now that he is hitting. When he wasn’t hitting, it was nothing more than a multi-page argument to sell low on him. I say don’t just keep Bradley - extend him...
  25. The only reason to even think about this would be if the Sox had another outfielder coming up they needed to find a place for. The Sox don’t have that guy, not even in Rusney Castillo.
