  1. So basically.. probation...
  2. Really it all depends on what Price wants. If he only wants money, he probably stays unless his agent thinks he cna get him more. If he wants to play for another team regardless, he is gone. Not everyone makes all the decisions on money. If that was the case, Tanaka would be a free agent right now...
  3. If it gets to the point where his elbow is scaring GMs and failing team physicals, he has already opted out...

  5. A player who goes off just before free agency. ..
  6. So they signed him just long enough to convince Manny Machado to join him in Cleveland. ..
  7. I am no Mitch Moreland fan, but in the raw power department he might be the most underrated hitter in MLB. When he connects, he hits shots that travel further than almost anyone in MLB. The problem is getting him to connect regularly. Its like he lacks the ability to hit a ball between 330 and 380 feet.
  8. A 200 inning season with his typical performance might...
  9. Yonder Alonso = Option Year Hero, Exhibit A.
  10. I can agree with that. German had a three year surge that was far, far better than the other 10 years in his career. But he still wasn't better than Varitek...
  11. I get the disappointment in Hanley, but the solution isn't to oversell the extremely bland Sam Travis. I think his middle name is "Meh"...
  12. Cherington certainly deserves the blame for Hanley, Sandoval and Castillo. I hate seeing the repeated Lucchino cop outs. Either Cherington made the moves or didn't have the faith from his superiors to handle the job. But he also got rid of some equally bad deals, built a solid farm, and really his fault in the 2014 last place is somewhat suspect. He basically brought back a World Series champion roster, and that team didn't perform to the same level. If status quo is a bad thing, people must hate Dombrowski so far this off-season. ...
  13. The roles were reversed last December. But teams have a tendency to look better when no one is injured...
  14. I do plan on continued needling of his man-crush on Aaron Judge, possibly to the point of immaturity. Is that acceptable?
  15. John Schuerholz made a good run at it...
  16. Price's decision will also be based on input from his agent as to whether or not he thinks he can get David a better deal, which might mean more years in place of more money...
  17. I wonder if Dombrowski and Cora are as concerned with Hanley's option as people on this board. Especially if Hanley can return to being even a fraction of the hitter he was that first month in Boston before injuring his shoulder. If he doesn't hit and that option still vests, there are a few actions they can take. ..
  18. I do think this is the year Bogaerts breaks out and tears up MLB pitching. He will, however, very likely continue lackluster defensive play at shortstop. ..
  19. I don't expect the Sox to clear up the logjam until they actually have the logjam. If they sign Martinez, then maybe they start exploring trading Bradley again. I know a lot of fans think this hurts Bradley's trade value, but it really doesn't. If other teams want him, they'll make their best offers they are willing to make. If multiple teams are interested, which is likely, then teams do have to outbid each other. Bradley's value is based on his performance, salary, years of control, and how badly or not other teams want him. Not on the Sox depth chart...
  20. Bradley I is a 3-4 fWAR with 3 arbitration years left and ranked #46 on Fangraphs trade value list, comparable tp Aaron Nola and Robbie Ray. He can get a very good pitcher in return if a match up can be found. ..
  21. Or keep the lineup as is and sign Darvish or Arrieta. ..
  22. Or keep the lineup as is and sign Darvish or Arrieta. ..
  23. So... not going to create the anticipated splash in season ticket sales?
  24. Moreland is back. So.... Delusional Dave?
  25. Yes. Small sample. But the larger point was that he spent 5 years in AAA before adjusting to the pitching at that level...
